Daily BITUB- "Work for Others"

Yesterday I found myself full of emotion.  I was excited for a moment for a pat on the back and then brought back to reality with the realization that it's not about what you've done, but about what you do. It's easy to get caught up in other people's frustrations, it's easier to be disappointed in their reactions, but we all play a role in moving forward toward solutions and doing what we can for others.  Every day we come face to face with challenges, with those that don't take ownership of their opportunities, with people who will put themselves before others no matter the impact it may have... That should never deter us from standing strong to our values, to living with our belief system, to pushing ourselves beyond limitations, to never wavering from the fact it isn't about us, but rather about making a difference for the people who matter most. After all what we did yesterday was simply another step towards doing it better today.  

As we move to the weekend I will leave you with the prayer I say every day (that one of my mentors gave me years ago).  It's a reminder of what it means to do what we do and be blessed that we can.

Prayer for Success in Work

Glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my many sins; to work with thankfulness and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop, by means of labor, the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, prudence and patience, never surrendering to weariness or difficulties; to work, above all, with purity of intention, and with detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account which I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all after thy example, O Patriarch Joseph. Such shall be my motto in life and death.
