Daily BITUB- “To Do Lists”

As I was sitting writing out things I needed to get done I started seeing a pattern emerge. Several things on the list didn't at all align with my priorities. Then I realized, as I looked back at my to do lists, that several of those things had been on there for a long time. While other things had come and gone quickly, efficiently, and with great care. The pattern was pretty evident after I allowed myself to see it. The greatest commitments are all tied to our values. They are infinitely linked to what is undeniably important to us. God, friends, family, faith... Foundations that keep us steady and we can build off of. The more things you put on that list that aren't tied, or related, to your values the more chance you have of never having enough time, desire, or need to complete them. You can't keep doing things, and putting things at the forefront, that are not at all aligned with your values. That's a recipe for setting yourself up to live an unfulfilled life as you encounter dead end after dead end and you just can't seem to figure out why. So, as I completed my list I intentionally crossed off the things that were not aligned with what is important, with my values, with what will make me and others better. It quickly went from a list of "I have to do" to a list that "I get to do"... And that makes all the difference.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you have the strength and the courage to refine your list. Make the things on it matter and choose the things that remind you exactly why they do.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Happy Thanksgiving”

"I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus." (1 Corinthians 1:4)

While every day God provides us something to be thankful for it is on this day that the overwhelming feeling of gratitude is present in us all. It is a day where you might reflect on the past year and how things may have not been exactly as you had hoped. That's probably an understatement. You may think about the challenges you faced, the setbacks, even the moments you felt that today was the day you gave up on that dream or goal. It is in those reflections though that you also get to see things you may sometimes overlook. You see the undeniable gifts that God bestows on you as you come face to face with someone who has overcome, who continues to fight for their beliefs, who inspires, motivates and is surrounded by blessings that lift up and hold tight as you progress through your journey. It is a reflection that shows the support of so many standing with you, the love of those that matter most and the beauty in a life filled with the abundance of God's unconditional love.  A love that provides opportunity to be your blessings, to pursue your goals, to love and be loved, to share, to create, to persevere, to be remarkable.  A love that lets you stand back and give thanks for this day.  Another day the Lord has made.  Another day where you get to be glad and rejoice in it. Another day to be thankful for everything this life has already given and has yet to offer.  Another day to be intentional in bringing others joy, and another opportunity to influence your moments and those around you. Today may you realize just how thankful you truly are and how so many are thankful for you.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and may you all have a safe, healthy, blessed and Happy Thanksgiving.

Daily BITUB- “Value Your Potential”

Why do you undervalue your experiences? Why do you undervalue who you are? Maybe somebody told you that your journey didn't matter. Maybe you feel your path doesn't matter, your life's moments aren't significant, your scars aren't deep enough. Every single thing in your life gets to matter. It gets to matter if you want it to matter. We sometimes stand in this place we are in and feel as if we aren't worthy of being happy. We don't deserve to have more. We don't deserve help. We don't deserve to venture out and fill our potential. It's easy to think that when we won't stop undervaluing who we are and why God has created this path for us. It's our path. The potential in it is as great as we need it to be. You have to believe it. Really believe in it and in you. It's not a cliche or a good quote. It's real. It's emotion, passion, feeling. Your ability to see your tomorrow starts with you today. It's powerful to trust that you are worthy, capable, able, and deserving. It's not selfish to want more. Especially when that dream has the potential to impact others in a positive way. We are all created with a purpose. Yet, so many people never allow themselves the opportunity to find that purpose. I once spoke to a group of High School students years ago. I was convinced it didn't go well. Until years later one of those students sent me an email and told me how impactful that day was. How sharing my failures, my fight, my journey helped them find a way to keep going. That's just it... We may never know our impact. We may inspire one person. We may change the course of someone's day, life, moment. We may be the blessing they prayed for. There is nothing about you to undervalue. God created you. You have a reason to be. You are full of potential and you deserve to allow yourself the opportunity to realize it.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you embrace the you that you are and give thanks to God for the opportunity to become anything you allow yourself to be. Life is what you make it. Gratitude to God for this life is living it to your full potential.

Have a blessed, healthy, and safe day all.

Daily BITUB- “Questions”

Why me? Why now? Why can't a catch a break? Why can't I just be happy? What's God's plan for me? I once sat with someone who asked me those very questions. I told them that I've asked those questions myself time and time again. Despite the fact that God always pulls me through. Despite that no matter how hard it's been here I am. Our human nature often finds us questioning ourselves. It's so much easier to believe the bad stuff than it is to have faith the good will come. There is no silver bullet, there are no promises, there is no advice to offer. Only prayer. Only faith. Only belief that laying our worries before God is the answer. I've been there. I've told myself that God won't get me through this one, and then He did. Not because I sat there and waited, but because I believed that He would help me.  I trusted that if I used the many blessings around me I would be ok. Maybe it didn't go as I had planned, but doing nothing could have never been the plan. So, you do something. You take the moment and you influence it. You bring your strength to the forefront and you gather up all your experiences, good and bad, and you press on. You press on because you know God will be there, through it all, hands out, ready to help you realize you are exactly where He intends for you to be... and you will know He is the answer to all your questions.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you is this..."Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Focus Your Energy”

I think often about where I want to invest my time and energy. I think we all do. Yet we must also think about where we don't want to invest that energy. There are people and things that draw out the worst in us. We spend countless hours of ours lives trying to deal with it, change it, overcome it. Yet, we find ourselves drained and weary from those fights. Fights we can't win, because it simply isn't that important to us. Thus, we aren't all in. We don't give it our all. Yet, we convince ourselves we are. We are so convincing we stop putting our focus on the things that matter. We stop chasing our dreams. We stop setting goals. We stop helping others. We are so determined to impact something that has no bearing on our lives or what comes next. We start putting that energy on things out of our control. We neglect our family, our friends, our commitments. Yet the very thing we are focused on has moved on. They continue to live and to function. They are not occupied with us. Yet here we are at a standstill. Right now, more than ever, people are putting energy in to things they can't control. Stop. Focus on what you do. Focus on your influence. Focus not on the people you live with, but the people you live for. Focus on your moments. Focus on your blessings. You might just illuminate those paths that negativity makes dark, and remember just how bright that energy can be when you allow yourself to invest and put the focus where it should be.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you can put down the things that burden you that aren't yours to carry. Allow yourself the opportunity to use your energy where God intends for you to be so that you may shine through His blessings and your faith.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Perception”

We've all heard it... Perception is reality. The reality is that perception can be everything. In some cases it's the only thing. How do we change that? How do we change our perception of people, situations, experiences? Honestly, first we have to care enough to change it, and then understand how that perception was created. Maybe it's broken trust, gossip, something we think we saw. We have to think about the moment. Sometimes we have to remove the emotions from it to really see it. Often in those moments of extreme feelings things can get lost in translation. Think about it. What something means to one person may not mean the same to another. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. We are constantly encouraged to express our individuality.  Perception through experience allows for that. It's what makes us who we are. No matter what is said or done, how it makes us feel is how it is perceived. Happy, sad, angry, content. Every emotion lends itself to a perception.  How we look at ourselves will influence how we look at others. All of it plays in to the day to day perceptions we allow ourselves to have. Our moments are ours. Our feelings, our point of view, our situation, our environment belong to us. So remember, we can think the good or bad into any situation. It's a choice. Dark-Gives us opportunity to see the light. Adversity-Gives us opportunity to overcome. Hurt-Gives us opportunity to heal. Faith-That gives us the strength to believe when it seems impossible to believe. So, as we hope to be perceived, so should we try to perceive others. Get the facts. We must take a moment to listen, to know, to understand others. After all our belief tells us to "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31). Have faith that even in our darkest moments there is beauty, strength, and hope. Let yourself feel the good in people. Let yourself see the power of positive points of view. After all it might just be your positive perception of things that inspires others to see the same.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you let God's light shine in your life. That you take time to look at every situation from the eyes of compassion, understanding, empathy. That you are open to move past perceptions and find truths.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Fill The Gaps”

You know you have gaps in your life, but have you ever admitted to yourself there are gaps in your life? It's not easy, because then you would have to do something about it. Sometimes we miss them because we have them filled with things that provide short term satisfaction. Things that don't last and create even bigger gaps when they are gone. We all have gaps. Gaps in knowledge, gaps in behaviors, gaps in relationships. Gaps between you and your relationship with God. Maybe we allow things to be overlooked, but somehow those gaps find a way to expose us at the most inopportune times. Sometimes those gaps grow beyond our ability to stand at all. It's easy to tell someone else how to fill those gaps, but hard to practice what we often preach. We must, at some point, take the risks, push ourselves, venture into the unknown if we are going to truly find ways to fill our gaps permanently. There is always a solution to the problem, always an opportunity to learn when you lack the knowledge, always a chance to work at having better more meaningful and intentional relationships. Always opportunities to move ourselves closer to God. We must first acknowledge there is an opportunity, and the next step is to understand that as hard as it is, as much as we want to ignore them, that we must grab hold of what matters and use it. Strip away all the other things creating the illusions that things are ok. Be purposeful. Be passionate. Be honest with yourself about what you need and why you need it. What you start to realize is that you have blessings right now that can fill those gaps. Then, whatever is left to fill let God do it. Pray. Pray for the strength to remove all the things clouding your path, all the things holding you back, and when you do you will find "these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)... And that will always be enough to fill even the biggest of gaps.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is You and my prayer for you today is that you are able to allow God to help you fill the gaps with His love. That you realize you can, and in allowing God's Grace to be abundant in your life you will.

Have a blessed week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Veteran’s Day”

"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost." - Arthur Ashe

While our honor should be everyday, we take pause to pray for, to give thanks, to honor our Veterans today. So many of our grandfathers, grandmothers, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, cousins, friends and family have served and provided us with the freedoms to chase our dreams, live our lives, do whatever we can imagine possible. They are heroes without ever asking to be.

To all the Veterans... Thank you for being our blessings, for putting so many before yourself and for the countless sacrifices you and your families have made, and are still making, for all of us. May you know that we are grateful today and every day, and through our actions may we do our best to show you we are. God bless you.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer today is for our Veterans. That they may feel peace, our gratitude, and our appreciation.

Daily BITUB- “Focus on what you control.”

Focus on what you control. I have heard that said so much lately. Yet, as much as I've heard it said I see more and more people allowing things out of their control to consume their entire day. They spend so much energy on posts of people they don't even know. They argue with some person half way around the world with no true resolution in sight. Missing moments in front of them. Missing the opportunities to impact what is front of them. Locked to a screen of rants they forget about the power of being present with the people around them. People they can help, can encourage, can guide, can listen to, can learn from, teach. People that deserve their energy and attention. People who tomorrow will be there unlike the person on the other end of that post who will simply move on to the next thing they can rile people up with. Don't misinterpret what I'm saying. It's good to post an opinion, give your views, share experiences and knowledge, but be aware of the rabbit holes that consume the very energy you need to carry out the things that you are talking about. Be present in your day. Be intentional in your interactions. Be aware of just how much more impactful, influential, and moving you could be if you really did focus on what you control.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find comfort in your day. You take the opportunities you can to reflect, to read, to study, to pray. That you are able to use your time in such a way that positively impacts you and those around you.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Distractions”

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." (Psalm 119:105)

You aren't sure what path you are supposed to be on anymore. You've lost focus. There are distractions everywhere. Sometimes you get sidetracked. You get pulled off the path momentarily. You get caught up in instant gratification and it clouds your long term focus on the dreams and goals you have been pursuing. You have stayed on the path a long time. Don't get discouraged. Pause and pray for guidance. It's going to be ok. Those distractions are part of the process. They help you realize what really matters and strengthen your determination to finish what you started. Don't underestimate the value of every interaction. There is a lesson to be learned. There are tests to be taken. It's on you to decipher what it means. It's on you to make a determination if your priorities are aligned and why those priorities matter to you. Life is full of distractions. Full of those things that pull our interests away from the blessings we have in search of blessings we think we need. We stop appreciating our life. We stop giving thanks to God for our place, our purpose, our gifts. We move away from the good in hopes there is better. We let that cloud us so much we stop nurturing our relationships, our journey, the people in our life we live for. Make no mistake, there are going to be plenty of  distractions. Use them. They make us refocus our energy on what and why we started this journey in the first place. They realign us and reaffirm that there are people and things in our life that make us better people. They make us want to try harder, give more, be more. They help us be our best self and remind us that no matter the distractions we must face, we have our people that are constant in our lives. A constant that gives us the strength to find our way back to the path we have always known we needed to be on.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you do not give up on your journey. Every twist and turn is God's will. In that, we know through Him we will be exactly where we are supposed to be in the exact moment we are supposed to be there.

Have a blessed, healthy, and safe week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “

Share your vision. Share your thoughts, values, beliefs. Yesterday I had an opportunity to speak with someone I met at a speaking engagement 10 years ago. They reached out to me and walked me through a recent disappointment they had experienced. In a nut shell, they had a mentor that really let them down by their actions. As we talked I found more and more that the vision her mentor had was not at all in line with anything she wanted to pursue or believed in. Honestly, that will almost always end in disappointment. Why wouldn't they want to chase a vision, a dream, a goal that mattered to them? The answer, which we hear often, "It's too far fetched". Followed by, "I can't do it".  We often give in before we even begin to try. We don't allow ourselves the experience for fear of failure. Then we latch on to someone else's idea of success. We love their dream, adopt their way of thinking, only to find ourselves standing alone once they achieve it with nothing of our own to chase. Everyone is capable of achieving, stretching, chasing. There are no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic limits we put on ourselves. The desire to excel begins with understanding what matters to us personally. What do we want? Why do we want it? What will it mean to us when we achieve it? Maybe you inspire others. Maybe you become the mentor guiding others not to live your vision, but to create their own. Maybe you inspire someone by chasing after things beyond your reach with a determination to reach them. Maybe you realize nothing is too far fetched if you believe in yourself and your potential. You can have a vision. We all can. "Vision is the world's most desperate need. There are no hopeless situations, only people who think hopelessly." (Winifred Newman)

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow yourself to create a vision. Coupled with God as your guide anything is possible and everything is within reach.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “The Hand Dealt”

I think we have all asked why we were dealt this hand. We question and we ponder. We have so many things that pull us down. We have responsibilities, obligations, things we simply don't want to do. We have limitations we've been given and some we've set on ourselves. We've convinced ourselves we aren't strong enough, deserving, educated enough. We've talked ourselves out of jobs, wins, successes, growth, relationships. We've caused problems. We've created mistakes. We've failed ourselves. We've been negative influences in our and other's lives. Yet, we miss the point of it all. We miss the lessons. Think. We've not stopped trying. We've not stopped dreaming. We've not stop giving ourselves chances. We've built foundations with layers of failures, obstacles, and adversity. We've used them as stepping stones to reach higher without even realizing it. Look around you. Look at what you've created. It didn't happen by accident. It didn't happen because everything was handed to you. You've earned it. You have emotional scars. You have hurt, pain, tears. Yet you've also found the good in it all. You've drawn from it when you needed to pick yourself up and kept moving forward. You have developed thick skin, experiences to share, built bridges for others to follow. The hand you have been dealt nobody else could have handled. You handled it, and here you are ready, willing, and able to handle the next hand you are to be dealt.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you know God has a plan for you. It's a plan only for you, and through your faith, your trust, your belief you will be ok.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Where I Stand”

People continue to ask me where I stand. I stand with the beauty of our ability to do something many have fought for. Vote. Have an opinion. Have the freedom to express it. Have the desire to study, educate myself, listen to others. To respect the process and trust in it. To give thanks that despite the hate, the fear, the negative that is out there today, we don't have to be. We can come together and be one nation under God. That's not just something you say. It's something you do, feel, live. I saw posts about what happens tomorrow. I agree. We carry on, we live, we go to work, we keep doing our part to influence the outcome. My values won't change, my heart won't change, my faith won't change. While all things around me might, I will do my best to ensure the world doesn't change me. I have Republican friends, Democrat friends, friends in many states, friends from all walks of life. All of them have different views. Some the same as mine and some different. Yet, tomorrow I'm not going to care for them any less. I won't let that be taken away from me. At the end of the day we are a blessed country, with the ability to pray that the outcome of today is what it should be and in that we find the ability to do as God commanded us... "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." (John 13:34)

Be blessed everyone, be safe, be healthy and Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU.

Daily BITUB- “Influence”

As I was sitting to write for today this post popped up in my memories. It was a reminder that I felt was worth sharing. With so much negative influence in the world we must do all we can to be the positive this world needs. As I've said so often, there is no shortage of doubt, it is the abundance of belief that often gets overlooked.

Enjoy- "The Daily BITUB-October 2019"

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time"- Maya Angelou

Do you ever think what you are doing won't matter? Good or bad you may think nobody cares, is watching, is influenced, but they are. What we don't anticipate is how our choices can ripple throughout other's lives and our own. We might not even realize that impact for years to come until we come across somebody we influenced, or remember how someone influenced us. Again, good or bad. Try as we might to avoid making impacts throughout our journey we are going to. It may be a family member, a coworker, our person, our children, even complete strangers. We will make people feel, think, laugh, cry, doubt, fight, trust, give. We may be an answered prayer, a blessing, a reminder there is good in the world. We may be witness to others providing the same. We are all on this journey and how we use our influence matters. God gave us those opportunities and He died so that we may live. How will you live? How will you do what you can to live a life worthy of that ultimate sacrifice? How will you be grateful? Don't ever think what you are doing doesn't matter. It has, it does, and it will. Make your moments, be that influence that creates a better place, be your blessings, and be the best you that you can be.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow your influences to be positive and you surround yourself with God's many blessings. Remember the negative around you is never as powerful than the positive that resonates beyond you.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy week everyone.
