Never underestimate the situation someone may be facing.  There may be so much more than what we see on the surface.  Maybe you don't understand why someone is upset, feeling lost or has lost faith… That is until you ask them.  We miss that sometimes. We miss the opportunity to sit with someone and talk.  I see it often and I have been guilty of it myself.  Things get misunderstood and thus our focus can be misguided.  We fail to help one another when we don't take the time to understand one another.  Simple things make a big difference.  How are you feeling?  What can I do for you?  Where do you need me in your life today?  The blessings that surround us often need us as much as we need them.  While we may not be able to do anything more than pray for them and with them that may be exactly all they need.  As we have leaned on those blessings to hold us up, to restore our faith and to give us strength let us not overlook the possibility that today they may simply just need the same.

Daily BITUB- "What road will you take?"

Decisions, decisions, decisions.  Sometimes the road less travelled is hard to take.  The odds may be stacked against you, you may be challenged by others about your choices, you may even be doubted that you can do what you say you will.  It's at that crossroad that you must decide what matters most.  You must commit to what you believe and be prepared to fight for it!  After all this isn't new territory.  You've faced these situations before.  You know what to do!  That's when you reach within and find that inner strength!  That's when you draw upon experience!  That's when you lean upon faith and you gather up all you are and push yourself beyond the boundaries, obstacles and adversity that are front of you!  You use the walls that you must knock down to provide the bricks to build from. You pray for guidance, you pray for vision and most of all you know that God is with you through it all!  You've been down that road less travelled by before...  Trust in faith, trust in God and know that no matter the path God already knows exactly where you are and will be there when you get to where He knows you need to be.

Daily BITUB- "Where are you headed?"

This isn't going to end well!

I can see where this is headed!  

How many times have you heard those statements?  How many times have you said them yourself?  Often it is our experiences that help us foresee things coming.  We have been there and so we are conditioned to expect an outcome.  If the outcome isn't what we want it to be shouldn't we use that same experience to influence it?  Why wouldn't we?  Throughout our journey we are going to face those moments we simply wish we didn't have to.  We are going to be challenged.  We are going to be weary.  We are going to be overwhelmed.  It's all part of living life to the fullest.  It's all a part of peaks and valleys.  It's how we grow, it's how we develop, it's how we become stronger!  So what do we do with all that?  Honestly that is completely up to us.  We make the choice everyday how we will face this day.  We determine outcomes, attitude and we influence the direction our lives will go.  If you see where it is headed and it's not where you want it to go then change direction.  It's never too late to make those changes.  Never too late to be influential especially in our own lives.  

So gather up your strength, pray for guidance, lean on your faith and head where your heart leads you...  I assure you that God also knows how it will end... And He wants nothing more than for it to end well.

Daily BITUB- "Perceptions"

Envision the possibilities and the possibilities become goals.  Set an expectation beyond the minimum, and you challenge yourself to be better than you ever have.  Commit to yourself that you won't settle for anything less than everything you know you can be, and you begin to invest in you and your future.  Dream big, dream often and dream the dreams that everyone tells you are too wild... Those are the ones that make for great stories when your reality has you standing in the middle of one.  Be willing to take on more opportunities in those unfamiliar territories, and you will find that the unfamiliar parts of your journey come less and less.  Leap in faith as often as you can, and you begin to realize with each leap you are that much closer to your dreams.  Stop focusing on all the doubt that exists around you, and you begin to realize the abundance of belief that surrounds you.  

Thank God everyday for the gift of life, and you come to appreciate it more when you realize all the blessings you have to be thankful for.

Daily BITUB- "What's the plan?"

Replying to emails yesterday I had someone ask me, "What's your plan?  Where are you going with all these blogs, speaking and beliefs?  You realize sometimes you don't even get likes on FB? You got to have some plan!"

Well, I do.  

I have a plan… 

It is firmly set upon the foundation of faith, hope and love that God gives us everyday.  It is a plan that gets me up every morning and puts my feet firmly on the path that God has provided.  It is a plan that gives me strength upon reaching my limits.  It is a plan that tells me that no matter what, I am surrounded by the blessings of those that matter most to me… They are there for me, with me and near me every step of the way.  It is a plan that allows me to visualize the possibilities in living life.  It is a plan that gives me the confidence to take unbelievable chances to reach my goals.  It is a plan that tells me I can dream as big as I can imagine, and I can live those dreams if I am willing to fight for them.  It is a plan where I am blessed that I can share my thoughts and if somewhere, somehow it matters to somebody then my plan is working.

Daily BITUB- "Success"

If you want to succeed, you must first determine what that means to you.  We all have our vision of success, and understanding that the vision can change is an important part of understanding what it will take to achieve it.  If you haven't evaluated your focus in awhile then take a moment to see if that which you are pursuing is in line with your priorities.  If you find that your days always feel as if you didn't accomplish anything, or you are worn out, but can't remember what you did...  Then maybe your energy is misplaced.  Maybe you are chasing someone else's dream.  Maybe you simply have gotten so far away from you, you can't remember what it means to be you.  Think about what brings you joy.  Think about what gives you strength.  Think about what makes you stand up, push forward and motivates you.  Think about that dream.  Think about that goal.  Think about why it matters, where you left off dreaming it and then get after it!  Success isn't a dollar sign, a status or a title... It's understanding that you work hard, you give it your all and that you are blessed.  It's family, friends, faith, hope, loving and being loved.  It's you looking at your life, seeing your reflection, feeling joy by what surrounds you and knowing you are successful because either you are exactly in that place you want to be or you know that through God you always have the opportunity to get there.

The daily opportunity to appreciate things sometimes gets overlooked.  We run so fast through our days from one deadline to the next we rarely slow down long enough to appreciate a job well done, a goal reached or even just to acknowledge our efforts up to now.  Sometimes we even miss something we have been waiting for because we are so busy pursuing the next dream we don't even realize we are standing in one we had before.  Often times if we are missing our own achievements chances are we are missing the achievements of others.   Simple things like a pat on the back, a thank you card, even just a nod of approval goes a long way.  What seems small to us can be the lift and the motivation for someone to keep their momentum and to continue their pursuits.

Life will always be full of responsibilities and deadlines...   Today take a moment to say "thank you" and to appreciate not only those around you, but yourself as well.  Take the beauty and the blessings in the many opportunities you have to gather those "rosebuds"...  And pay close attention because you will find God provides each and everyone of us those opportunities everyday.

Daily BITUB- "Extremes"

Either we have it all or we have none!  

Either we do it or we don't!  

It's my way or it's no way!  

We've all said those things and honestly it's easy to fall into extremes when we are faced with ever changing landscapes in our personal and professional lives.  When things aren't going as we had expected then we shift and sometimes it's simply too much.  We often over compensate for things and before you know it we are completely on the other side of where we were.  I'm guilty of it and finding the balance is way easier said than done.  To realize there is a middle ground and our ability to find it will always be there... But it will take work!  Take a step back and take inventory...  See where things can be tweaked, what you may have missed and most of all where you may need help.  Chances are you have people surrounding you ready to lend a hand, ready to be there as you go through that changing landscape and most of all ready to help steady you so that you can find balance long enough to realize that you have.

Daily BITUB- "Confrontation"

Sometimes we stand face to face with a situation that we simply aren't ready to confront.  Doubt, indecision and fear can create mountains that feel like they are insurmountable... But sometimes it's standing at the base of those mountains that helps us do what we must do.  Avoiding something won't make it go away and chances are it will show up when we least expect it.  Think about situations past.  How often have we dealt with them only to find that it brought comfort to others and other times provided closure that helped bring comfort to us.  What we often find is that we are stronger than we thought we could be and that dealing with it helps give us direction for what we must do next.  It's not always going to be clear or easy, but believing that God will guide you provides the faith necessary to move forward... Forward knowing you will be where He needs you to be exactly when you need to be there.

Daily BITUB- "Foundation of Faith"

There are simply some things that make us feel as if we are out of control.  We can't ground ourselves long enough to get a footing, and thus we feel completely lost, confused by our direction and unsure of our next steps.  Life is filled with events that sometimes leave us questioning God as to "why now", "why me", " why this"!  The thing is God presents answers to those questions, but it's up to us to pay attention.  It's up to us to realize that not all prayers will be answered as we want, but it doesn't mean they aren't being answered as God knows we need them to be.  Those answers may not be immediate, but faith tells us they will come.  Faith gives us comfort that while we feel lost we are never alone.  God is ever present!  The blessings He surrounds us with are always there through family, friends... And it's all those people filled with God's love that create the foundation we stand upon...  Our foundation of faith that tells us no matter what will come we know that it can and will sustain us if we simply allow it!

Daily BITUB- "Remembering"

We all have memories of that day.  Where we were, what we felt and the thoughts of the aftermath of what was to come.  I remember being in NC and all the planes being grounded so I couldn't get home.  I was scared, nervous and in disbelief of what was happening.  I prayed a lot that week for my family, friends and for God to help those who were feeling lost in the moment.  I prayed that they would have strength and I prayed they felt the love and support of all the prayers that were coming their way.  I knew there wasn't much more I could do then believe as best I could for those that were going to find it hard to believe for quite some time.  A week later when we were able to fly again I remember having a knot in my stomach.  It honestly didn't subside for the entire flight.  It was a quiet flight... No one talked, moved or slept.  Once on the ground though I remember looking at everyone getting off the plane, and what I noticed is that we all had that look of relief.  We smiled, we laughed and as several people did I stopped bowed my head and thanked God for a safe flight.  I thanked him for the day, for the possibility of tomorrow and for keeping hope alive in our lives evident by the smiles of the people around me.  I thanked him in advance for all the things I knew He would do in the years to come as we faced the aftermath.  I prayed for peace, for faith and for love.  

Today as we remember I urge you to take a moment and bow your head and pray for all those still searching for an answer in their hearts for that day.  Pray for strength, pray for their ability to find comfort through God.  Pray for this country, for our brothers and sisters fighting wars for our freedom.  Pray and give thanks that today we are here, that we all have the ability to make a difference in our own way and that we appreciate life by living it to the best of our ability each and everyday.

Daily BITUB- "Plans"

What's your plan?  Where are you in your plan?  Are you progressing as you had expected?  Maybe you are stuck in a rut?  Maybe you haven't really decided what the plan is, or you experienced something that has completely changed your course and you simply can't get back on track.  There are many reasons we can become distracted from the goals we have set.  There are always going to be things, people and situations that can deter us.  Plans will change, as will our perspective of what the plan should be.  Our priorities years ago may not be the priorities we have today. The experiences we have had may have given our focus new meaning...  What we thought was important to us just isn't anymore.  Take a moment and take inventory of life.  Who and what matters?  Is your pursuit today going to be what makes you happy?  Is the daily mission you are on going to satisfy you?  When adversity comes, and it will, is your determination to push forward fueled by your commitment to that pursuit?  Chances are as you take a good hard look and ask yourself where you are in your plan, you will find that you know exactly what your plan should... And knowing it is a great starting point to begin pursuing it!

You can always laugh at yourself.  You can always find ways to make yourself better.  You can always challenge the norm.  You can always exceed expectations.  You can always overcome limitations.  You can always say I will when everyone else says they cant.  You can always raise the bar.  You can always appreciate a sunrise.  You can always say I love you to those that matter most.  You can always do those things you always wanted to do.  You can always dream bigger.  You can always find a silver lining.  You can always choose to be the positive influence.  You can always find a blessing if you look hard enough.  You can always have faith that God is with you... What are you passionate about?  There are so many things around us that are constant reminders that every day should matter... That every moment we get to embrace the beauty of life we should. Slow down long enough to look around you and take inventory of what those reminders are for you.  God gives us life to live.  How we live it is a choice.  He provides us things in our life that guide us and give us the opportunity to create purpose in our lives...  And purpose drives passion!  So I'll ask again, what are you passionate about?  What do you think about that gives you strength and lifts you up?  What motivates you to excel beyond limitations?  What do you dream of and why aren't you pursuing those dreams?  There are no setbacks... Daily BITUB- "Giving"

Giving of yourself is not and never should be an obligation.  It is a privilege.  Everyday we are presented opportunities to give of ourselves... And lest we forget it's not the capacity to which we give, but that we can and we do.  Think about those moments that are ever present throughout the day...  A smile for someone, the comfort of a hug, listening to someone vent, being a shoulder, lending someone your faith as they search for theirs.  It's easy to want, easy to need and sometimes even easier to forget our influence in each other's lives... But realizing the beauty of being there for someone often helps us to remember all the blessings we have experienced as someone was there for us.  Remember...
