Recognition is important.  When someone does something well we should find ourselves taking the time to show them appreciation.  We should acknowledge them for what they have been able to accomplish.  Sometimes though we determine that recognition should come only as someone completes a task...  Thus we overlook the steps along the way that allows that task to be completed!  The fight, the dedication, the commitment, the character and attitude...  The affirmation of who they are and showing our gratitude for that.  We all have those special people in our lives.  The ones whose ability to inspire comes by just being themselves!  Take notice of their focus on the values, blessings and beauty of life that gives them an ability to push even when the odds are stacked against them.  It's not by accident!  They have faith in God's plan and the willingness to show it, live it and lead by it!  Appreciate those that reach the peak, but take a moment to also acknowledge just how much their pursuit of life from the valleys to those peaks means to you.  Cherish those people... Tell them what they mean to you!  Let them know you recognize they are a blessing and tell them how much they inspire you to pursue peaks of your own!

Daily BITUB- "Move along!"

Should you be further along? If you feel like you should then what's it going to take?  What are you going to change this instant to light that fire?  You are always moving, but if the pace is not fast enough for you to see the progression then maybe you shouldn't go faster, but slow down!  Take an inventory of where you are and where you want to be.  You may be moving so fast you miss the opportunities God places in your path.  Maybe you are moving, but in circles rather then forward!  It happens and more often then not we are so focused on getting "there" we forget what "there"really is, and why "there" is where we wanted to be in the first place!  It's not a race... It's a day by day progression.  A progression that includes moments of growth, experience, peaks and valleys.  It is a progression in which we will determine, and learn, what we must to do to get to our goals and dreams.  A progression where we will sometimes ask if we should be further along, and then all of a sudden we realize we are further than we have ever thought we could be.  Stay the course and trust in faith!  God's plan is in motion... As are you!

Every decision helps us to maneuver the path.  It is within those decisions we build character, create strength, develop hope and sustain our foundation. Step into that place...

Even when it feels like it wasn't! 

Despite our most challenging experiences, and though it may not happen immediately, we learn!  There is a lasting impression left upon us.  It is the bits and pieces of memories that allow us the blessing of applying it somewhere else at another time.  We can look back at our moments and see that through our growth we aren't the person we were before those experiences.  We realize that we are looking at someone who has and continues to evolve.  Better, wiser, stronger... Realizing that faith carries us, hope nurtures us and God holds us through it all! Yes! It has all been worth it! Necessary parts of the journey that opens up more of what matters. Yes, we may not have seen any of that if we all took each moment as it came to us.  Instead we must make our moments memories.  We must create the pathways to the next level of who we can be. We must take ownership of our lives!  

It is our responsibility to nourish our blessings, fine tune our talents and work to be better than we were yesterday.  Prioritize what matters to you and don't  back down from what you deem important! While there will be tests to your foundation of faith don't allow those tests to break you or to take away the amazing potential of possibilities you have worked so hard to create.  Give yourself to God and stand ready in that faith!  It's that faith that will sustain you and become the strength you need to continue to build upon.  Remember that negative people find it hard to mask their doubt for fear that your strength will cast a light on the very shadows they are hiding in.  Every wall they put up is to keep them in not others out. Encourage them to share in your hope, to use your faith, to pray with you, to see the gifts of God so they move beyond those walls.  Remember... Throughout your journey you must not place your focus on what others think or want you to be.  

Take ownership! 

Be who you know you are! Be who you know you need to be!  Be your true self in all things!  Be your blessings and share them so that it may encourage those that challenge your progression, and maybe provide them inspiration to want to be better themselves.

How many times have we faced a day, a moment, a situation where we begged to know where all our blessings had gone.  I thought about that and realized how many times I've heard it said and how many times I've said it myself.  Looking for those blessings amidst the chaos that life can deal us sometimes clouds our vision from what is right there in front of us.  You know we take some things for granted.  We may even try to justify it by thinking it's ok because everyone does, but that really is just a way to let ourselves off the hook.  We often forget that a blessing is just that...  A blessing.  It may be our family, our spouse, a friend, a job, our children, a roof over our heads, a comforting gesture from someone, an opportunity to give back.  Yes, blessings can be many things, but they always are constant reminders of how beautiful life is and how much God loves us.  While we forget to appreciate them sometimes doesn't mean they aren't there.  We simply must try to take the moments that move us, that guide us, that give us strength, hope, make us feel loved, allow us to love and give us purpose.  Take those everyday moments and look closely at them!  Chances are those are the blessings we've been looking for and when we begin to allow ourselves to see we realize they were never lost.

Daily BITUB- "The First Step"

That first step is hard!  

It's not the doubt that holds us back.  It's not the fear that stops us from trying.  It's not the adversity that is inevitable that delays our progress.  It's not the negative that is around us.  It's not the naysayers that are constantly in our ear.  It's not the challenges that push us to our limits.  It's not the valleys that we must stand in at times.  It's not the lack of faith in God and His path.  It's not that we don't believe we can or we should.

 

Come to think of it… There is absolutely no reason not to do the things we know we can.  There isn't anyone who hasn't at some time overcome and surpassed a limitation.  There isn't any set expectation that can't be reset.  Sometimes there is no explanation. It is simply that we have so many times before talked ourselves out of the possibilities that we overlook the opportunities.  We build walls that tunnel our vision into thinking we are not capable or worse we aren't able to earn the right to chase our dream.  It isn't easy to do, but the strength is there.  The support is there!  The memories of past achievements are there!  Everything you need will be there!  

Brace yourself.

Take a deep breath.

Take God's hand...  And step!

That wall...  

You know the one!  You've hit it before!  You've come to it exhausted, defeated and weary asking how you can continue on.  As you lean up against that wall catch your breath and think about the other ones you have climbed over before.  Think about the strength that you've called upon in other moments just like this.  Open your heart, clear your mind and look around!  Look at the hands reaching out to pull you up and the foundation of blessings making the top of that wall closer and closer.  This wall is nothing more then another opportunity to build up your strength!  Trust in faith and trust in God and His wisdom that this is what you need, and believe that you will overcome this wall like the many others you have faced before!

It's such a big school, such a big company, such a big world.  Yes it is and so it's easy to feel like your individual contribution is not significant.  Easy to feel that you can't,won't and shouldn't make a difference, and some will choose to not even try.  Thing is there is only one you!  You are one unique person!  Your spirit, your talents and your beauty are gifts from God...  Gifts only you possess!  The blessings that exist within you can only come from you!  Everyday the opportunity is there to make a difference, to be a difference, to influence the outcome of the day for you and for others!  Maybe you don't see the impact of your smile to someone, your encouragement, your example of determination reaching for your goals, but maybe, just maybe you touch one life.  You matter to that one person!  Something you can't do if you don't allow your light to shine!  So don't think the world is too big to make an impact... How do you gauge the importance of events in your life?    

There are so many events that impact our lives and influence how, why and when we do the things we do.  Some provide us the spark to light the fire we need to push forward.  Some ground us to the reality of what matters most to us.  Some help us realize the true meaning of love, sharing, caring...  Some simply provide us with the beauty of a memory and the blessing of a moment we can carry with us wherever we go.  

How do you gauge the importance?  I've learned it's not about the event.  It's about the blessings God gives us in the opportunities to have them, to experience them and to live.  When you put that into perspective... Well, it's all important.

Daily BITUB- "What are your plans?"

What are your plans this week?  

How about today?  

Have you thought about the possibilities that are ahead?  How many lives you can touch?  Will you be the positive influence they need?  Are you aware of the beauty in helping others reach their dreams?  Maybe you are their inspiration... Maybe they are yours.  Are you excited about God's plans for you?  Are you willing to leap in faith and pursue the path?  How many obstacles will you overcome along the way to get to that point where you know the dreams you have are waiting?  How high can you reach and how far will you go? Today is as good a day as any to start, finish, continue pursuing that happiness that gives you strength!  Let it provide you with the motivation to be, to become, to Believe in life, in living... in the Unbelievable that is YOU!

Daily BITUB- "They"

"They" control a lot don't they?  "They" can redirect our focus In an instant.  Why is that?  How can "they" be so much of an influence to convince us to change course?  What is it "they" have that we don't?  Why are we so quick to say "they" told us or "they" said we couldn't?  Have you thought about it?  Have you considered "they" truly having nothing on YOU?  That "they" can only impact what we allow.  That everything "they" have comes from what we give them.  "They" are only as much of an obstacle as we want them the be, and often before you know it "they" can become "we".  So why not be a part of the "we" that says  WE can, WE will, WE believe!  Our influences in life are a choice.  We decide who, what, when and where we want and need to be influenced.  We control the outcomes and we are the only ones that can allow the negativity "they" bring into our lives.  We have such amazing strength and we can forget that when we lose touch of all the blessings God gives us to face the day, to chase our dreams and to live our lives.  So stay focused on that!  Stay true to who you are!  Let them watch you do what you do and just maybe "they" will realize what "we" can do!

Daily BITUB- "What did you learn?"

What did you learn yesterday?  

Really think about it for a minute.  It may have been subtle, but chances are it taught you something you will use again.  It may have been a clear lesson that changed your way of thinking and gave you perspective.  Maybe it's something you didn't even realize until you started to think about it.  Everyday there is something we can and should take away from our experiences.  Things that we are blessed with to help us on our journey.  We learn about character, perseverance, strength, hardship, joy, emotions, faith...  We learn it from others, and when we open ourselves up to the possibilities before us we are privileged to learn it about ourselves.  Cherish the teachable moments, bask in the opportunities to be taught and be conscious of all the things God places in our path so that we may better ourselves each and every day we are blessed to experience the beauty that exists in our lives.
