Daily BITUB- "Strength in Numbers"

Why are you trying to do it alone?  It's not if, it's when you will need support to hold you up, push you forward, or to simply listen.  We've all heard the saying, there is strength in numbers...  Isn't there?  Give yourself that comfort.  Be open to the possibility of letting others be there for you, and in turn you be there for them!  God puts people in our lives, but He isn't going to introduce us.  That's up to us.  Those blessings we are looking for require that we look.  Sometimes they are harder to see then we would like, and other times they are so obvious we overlook them.  Look around you.  Realize how many people are using your light to illuminate their path, and whose light is illuminating yours.  It's all part of the journey, and we get to travel it with whoever we so choose.  So be blessed to know you don't have to put yourself into everyone you live with, but you can always have the opportunity to give all of you to those you live for.

While there are no words that can truly articulate the gratitude one feels knowing the legacy of what others have done so that we may have our freedoms... I will just say "Thank you" to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice and to their families who supported them so that we can live this life of freedom, so that we can have choices, so that we can be anything and everything we choose to be. We can all honor them by appreciating life, doing all we can to live it and being willing to do our best to leave a legacy of our own.

We all make mistakes.  We all come face to face with failure, shortfalls and missed opportunities.  How we handle them is another story.  Some people will blame, point fingers, and make excuses.  Others will take hold of the situation and work on solutions.  They won't shy away from the issue, instead they will dig in more to better understand it.  They will own the moment and influence the outcome.  They will understand that the place they are was given to them because they were entrusted to deliver no matter the obstacles!  Every day in every way God sends us those things He knows will give us strength. It's up to us to decide if we want to accept the blessing in the experience or not.  I'm grateful for the valleys, appreciative of the peaks, and I thank God for allowing me today, this moment, to dream my dreams and chase my goals.  After all if it wasn't for the dark, the light you are standing in simply wouldn't shine as bright.

Daily BITUB- "A Remarkable Difference"

Everyday I get recaps from our team on their day. I have 40-50 I read and review, and try to comment on the outstanding efforts, the tough sales days, or just to say thanks.  There is one I get that opens with the sentence, "This is how I made a remarkable difference today!"  Our culture here is one of servant leadership.  Our vision is "to make a remarkable difference for our customers, our people, and within our communities."  Some days we get so busy we may miss the ones who strive to excel in that vision day in and day out.  So I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to this coach!  Thank you for working to hit your goals, to lead, to take on the challenges, to coach your people, to focus on self development, and for making a remarkable difference for them, for our company (Etech), and for me!

Daily BITUB- "Planning"

Yesterday on the way home my mind was filled with the long to do list of responsibilities coming the rest of the week.  I thought about the scheduling, the planning and what was the  priority of each task.  I thought about how I would tackle each project, how I needed to research on others, and what each completed task would look like.  Then it hit me.  Nowhere in that thought process and nowhere in my plans did I have the people who are around me daily willing to assist.  The ones ready to learn, eager and excited to be a part of the team, ready and willing to accept the responsibility that comes with taking on a challenge.  They are there.  In fact, sometimes we miss them because we forget that we can't do it all alone.  Sometimes we miss them because we are so focused on the negativity of the few we overlook the positive of the many.  Take a quick pause and assess your surroundings.  Sure you have a lot to do and chances are you'll have more today, but take inventory of those people ready, preparing, wanting and appreciating their opportunity to be a part of the plan.  It's those people that understand it's not about what we think we deserve it's about what we are committed to earning.

GET READY! 

Wake up and dig in!  The day that lies ahead of you is another opportunity to challenge the norm!  Another day to learn something new!  Another day to get inspired and dream big!  Another day to say yes I can, yes I will, and nobody will stop me!

Maybe it's easier said then done, but getting it done starts with the belief that it's you who controls when and if it gets to start.  I've heard it before... "I'm waiting for the right time."  Are you?  Well when is that?  When will it ever be the perfect time?  We can talk ourselves out of anything...  Or we can allow our fighting spirit to take over and let that instinct drive us to trust that the right time is now!  This is the day the Lord has made.  Rejoice in it by living it!  Give thanks for it by experiencing the beauty of every twist, turn, obstacle, challenge, success and victory! Daily BITUB- "The Smallest Things"

It's funny how the little things can frustrate us, the smallest insecurities can keep us from moving outside our comfort zone, and even the thought of doubt can derail our progression.  Yet, the smallest blessings we overlook.  The little things that are ever present.  A chance to hang out with friends, a cross-off on our to do list, a "thank you" from our children, a phone call to our parents, an "I love you" from our spouse, a quiet moment to ourselves...  Yeah those things we miss sometimes.  Those day to day moments that, if we allow, should keep us moving towards our goals.  They should remind us of where we are and how far we've come.  They should comfort us when we need it most.  So while we often focus on the negative,remind yourself just how much positive is ever present each and every day.  When you start to do that you'll begin to realize there are a lot of "little things" that are part of the biggest blessings in life, and that is simply too hard to overlook.

Daily BITUB- "If not you then who?"

If not you then who?  If not now then when?  If not here then where?  I'm often compelled to ask those questions of the people in my life.  Whenever I get complacent or feel like things are out of control I ask myself the same questions.  We've all heard it said that life is not a spectator sport.  It's not!  However, it's not only about being in the game it's wanting and needing to be in the game! I see it all the time.  People questioning why they are where they are, why others are ahead of them,  blaming everyone else for their situation.  That isn't going to create the motivation needed to progress forward.  It's not going to give you the career, the family, the education you want.  It's not going to help you reach your dreams and goals.  You want to be more, then you have to be the catalyst that ignites that fire!   You have to take charge of each moment and direct life down the road you want it to go.  You must be an active participant! You mustn't simply expect  things to happen...  You have to make them happen!  God gives us the path, He provides us the blessings, but it is on us to travel that path, to appreciate those blessings by using them!  After all...

If not you then who?  

If not now then when?  

If not here then where?

If you don't ask the answer is always no.  Thing is we often don't ask because we are too afraid that the answer may be yes!  We forget that yes means we get to push ourselves to achieve the things we said we would.  We get to step up and show what we are capable of doing.  Where's your energy?  Is it on the naysayers, the doubters, the ones unwilling to say they believe? Is it spending time trying to convince others the plan instead of executing on it?  The proof is in the result.  The more you give the more opportunity you have to motivate others to do the  same.  The instant we come up with an idea is the best time to attack it.  The more we dwell on it the more we begin to doubt, and before you know it the change you wanted to bring gets lost in the complacency of others.  Be proactive in your pursuit of innovation!  Don't wait until you have to do it, be ahead of the game.  Remember proactive people achieve so much more because they are ahead of the limitations others will set once they get there. Gather up your ideas, focus on the positive, draw from experience, visualize the goal, and  put your dreams in motion!  If you are still waiting for an answer if you should...  The answer is YES!

Daily BITUB- "Too much on the plate?"

You can't be afraid to take on the challenge!  I get it - you are busy.  You have so much already.  Guess what?  We all have things on our plate, but sometimes we have to get another plate, if necessary.  Too many times we stand back and identify the issues, but we are unwilling to jump head first into the deep end!  We may offer advice, we give ideas, we even criticize how others do the job, but if we aren't willing to roll up our sleeves and assist, then we are doing them and ourselves a disservice.  Stop talking about what you would do and start doing it.  You want things to be better then make them better.  You want others to understand then be patient enough to teach them.  You want to give feedback then be willing to take it.  Stop making excuses and start making solutions!  Leadership isn't about the title, it is about leading by example.  It's getting out there and in the game.  It's about speaking up, speaking out, being willing to take a chance, not conforming, doing what you know is right, and being willing to make mistakes along the way in order to find the way!  Remember...   Leaders lead when nobody is watching, but understand that someone always is.  So be innovative! Take initiative!  Motivate! Inspire! Perform! Influence the outcome! Execute!  Give everything you've got each and every day!  You know what you are capable of doing.  Stop talking about what you can't do and start believing in what you can!

Can you see it?  Are you able to visualize the outcome?  Do you know what you want to happen?  Do you know what it's going to take to make it happen?  If you aren't taking the opportunity to understand it then chances are you won't be able to achieve it.  Give yourself the tools you need to succeed by working to better yourself.  Self development is an on-going process.  It is trying and then trying again.  It is experiencing the blessings in creating moments that help us build confidence, that give us a foundation to stand upon, and strengthen our character.  We must allow ourselves the chance to grow from the shortfalls, learn from the missteps, and push through the adversity that life gives us.  Take a moment today to understand what you truly want.  Then make your moment matter!  See where you want to go and get moving!  You won't always have everything you want as you travel through life, but get on with the journey and trust that God will provide you everything you need when you will need it the most.

Take your best shot!

Why not?

We all have those people.  Those special ones that create a feeling of comfort, joy, and give us a reason to push ourselves.  Our spouse, children, parents, family, best friends...The reason we are and want to be. There is comfort in knowing if you fall they will catch you. You find more strength in understanding the heavier it is the more they will help you hold it up. There is beauty in knowing they will not judge, but they will always be honest with you. There is more hope in your dreams when you know they believe in your ability to reach them. Daily BITUB- "Listen"

Often we hear what we want to hear.  We can take it and twist it anyway we like rather than take it as it was meant to be.  We've all done it.  Sometimes though you just have to listen.  You have to pay attention to the message.  You have to let it sink in long enough to understand the point.  Then you start to realize all those things you've "heard" you never really took the time to listen to them.  So take a moment today and reflect on all those times you were given advice, given feedback, offered a helping hand, given a kind word, received a thank you, a bless you or even just a smile and a "hi.  Listen and take notice.  Listen to your parents, remember the things they've told you all along the way.  Listen to your grandparents, they have stories that paved the way.  Listen to your spouse, they may be telling you exactly what matters most to them.  Listen to your children, they may be telling you exactly what they need.  Listen to your friends, they may be asking you for guidance or offering you some. Listen to your colleagues, they may be giving you feedback to help you tackle the next challenge.  Listen to yourself, you know what's best for you.  Listen to your prayers and pay attention to how God answers them.  

There is so much being said every day...  Sometimes we just need to listen.

Daily BITUB- "Spirit!"

"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we might win, by fearing to attempt." -Shakespeare

Remember as kids we would try almost anything.  I actually jumped off the roof of our house because my brother told me to! (Yeah older brothers) Thing is as we grow that fearless spirit gets replaced by doubt, uncertainty, and fear.  We become afraid to push the limits because as we've grown older we started to let ourselves notice there were some.  I've said it before there are no unrealistic dreams, only unrealistic limitations.  Anything is possible.  As cliche as that is, there is truth there.  Anything IS possible if we want it enough!  So maybe you need to just reflect.  Maybe you need to focus your energy on your ability to outgrow your fears by remembering your spirit as a child. Reenergize yourself and tap into those instincts you may have buried deep down inside you.  The ones that allowed you to climb trees, jump fences, pop wheelies, swim the deep end, walk barefooted through anything, jump off the high dive, flip, tumble, run faster, shout, cry, laugh-All with full unfiltered, true, honest emotion. Where you were happy because you truly were and you lived because you wanted to experience all you could. Unleash that! Realize, once again, that you can't achieve, succeed, learn, live if you never even give yourself the chance to jump off your roof!

Daily BITUB- "It's Up to You!"

You are fired up!  You are ready to go!  You have worked hard for this moment!  Then...  Someone tells you it won't work.  They tell you that you shouldn't, couldn't, wouldn't. No matter what you do some people won't share your passion, energy, enthusiasm, and dedication. While you show it, offer it and give all of you some simply can't accept it.  So what?  The next step is up to you.  You can let them push you down or you can get up, get in and make it happen!  Don't stop! Keep offering! Keep sharing! Continue to be that positive! Your light touches more than you know, and it's those you can't see that need it the most. Your faith inspires! Your hope gives others a path to theirs! You are part of other people's foundation. You give strength! You are why they believe in themselves and why they know dreams can be achieved.  Yes there are more supporters than you think!  It's the little things you do that contribute to the big picture in your and other's lives. So, why you often come face to face with those who say they don't believe in you... Know and trust there are many who Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU!
