You have to be willing to push yourself into that unknown territory.  You have to be willing to leave those comfort zones and be more than the limitations that others, or you, have set for yourself.  You have to be up for the challenge of a new goal, a new level of expectation , a new adventure.  There are so many places you can go, so many things you can do, so many dreams you can dream, but you have to be willing to live!  To live with the realization that it won't always be easy, but that not giving yourself a chance insures it won't ever be at all.  So...  Let life in, be your blessings, live in faith, Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU, and leap!

There will always be doubt.  There will always be negative.  There will always be hate.  Unfortunately those are the things we tend to notice the most, we see on TV, we read about, we talk about.  We miss the rest.  There will always be faith.  There will always be positive.  There will always be love.  It is the abundance of belief, the special people in our lives, and the simple things that bring us joy that we often overlook. The things we might even take for granted until they are gone. While it may be easier said than done it's up to us to want to do it!  To need to do it!  To look past the ugly around us and embrace the beauty that surrounds us.  Grab and hold tight to those blessings and take time to notice them...  You might just start to see there really is much more good than bad.

Be there because you want to not because you have to.  How often we allow the feeling of obligation to overshadow the true blessing of helping others.  How often we ignore a cry for help because we "are too busy".  There is so much beauty in offering a helping hand, being a shoulder, crying with someone, laughing together, praying together.  Life isn't about doing so you can get something back...  It's about being blessed to give more than we take, and doing it because we appreciate what others have done for us.  Sometimes it takes nothing more than to sit down and listen, to understand, to be there.  We all have those moments, we all have things to do, responsibilities, deadlines...  But it is the things we do outside ourselves that says we appreciate the gift and beauty of life and are blessed to share that life with others.

Have you ever been in a crowded room you have been in before and realized you don't know anyone?  Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you could help, but you simply felt you had too much going on in your day you couldn't spare the time?  We've all been there.  Funny how that works isn't it?  We are so preoccupied sometimes we completely miss everything going on around us.  We miss the moments where we meet new friends, share stories, laugh at a joke, offer a helping hand, appreciate one another.  We get so caught up in having more than our neighbors we completely forget to meet them sometimes.  We let wanting and needing take the place of giving and sharing.  Maybe if we took a step back we could appreciate our blessings a little more.  We would remember the beauty of helping, encouraging, teaching, listening, caring, serving, loving and being loved...   After all while we are searching for happiness often we forget that it is these very things that are essential to truly being as happy as we can possibly be.

That's when the fire is the hottest, the passion is the strongest, and faith takes the lead! But look how far you've come!  Look how much you have already dealt with and kept moving towards your goal!  Don't take that lightly!  Don't overlook what you are and capable of achieving!  Stop underestimating your ability to persevere!  Stop saying you can't and start realizing you already have!  Stop making excuses and letting yourself off the hook!  Stop pointing fingers!  Nobody made you make the choices you have to get here, you made them.  Now you get to make the next choices to move you from here!  Be in control!  Influence the outcome!  Every moment, every opportunity, every chance you get to push, exceed, excel, try...  You should!

Don't be afraid to give feedback, to voice concerns, to be open about what isn't working.  We all have areas to be better at, we all have shortcomings, we all have our moments.  I've been blessed to have people in my life willing to tell me things that helped me see what I couldn't.  It isn't always easy to hear, sometimes it is even harder to accept, but every perception has some reality in it.  Why do people feel that way?  Why did we miss the mark?  What can we take from this and improve?  While often it is easy to point out areas of opportunity, we must be willing to be on the other end of that.  It's a blessing to have those that care enough to take time to say here you are and here is how we are going to get to that place you want to be.  We must listen, we must be willing to take it in, and use it to create what comes next.  As I've said before just because things don't as planned doesn't mean we change the plan.  No, instead we learn, grow, cherish the opportunities, and push forward knowing that today we get another chance to be better than we were yesterday.

Was yesterday a tough day?  Maybe you've had a tough month, year even?  Well you can sit and wallow in it, or you can pick up, regroup, and carry on!  After all there is still a lot left to do.  There are still challenges to be taken on, responsibilities to be handled, dreams to be dreamed!  There are still choices to be made about tomorrow, and preparation for it begins today!  Sometimes it's tough...   Sometimes all the words of encouragement, the support from friends and family isn't enough.  Sometimes it's easier said then done, but understanding it must be done means you understand that it can be!  Sometimes it comes down to you deciding that God has you!  Trusting in that as you have before!  Believing when it's impossible to believe... So get up, get back in the game, gather up your faith, take a deep breath, say a prayer and let's go!

We must hurry up and get there!  We are fixated on reaching our destination!  We want to be in that spot so bad. We want the top of that mountain!  We want to be on the last rung of that ladder!  Then we reach it...  Now what?  It's not high enough is it?  Before you know it life has passed you by. The desire to climb made you forget why you were climbing.  You missed the scenery.  You missed the small victories.  You forgot the lessons, the experiences, the adversity, the triumphs. You overlooked the meaning of it all, and thus the end result isn't as you thought...  So, you figure it must be higher, you must climb more, it's simply not what you envisioned.  Take a moment and look around you.  Take in where you are on your current climb.  Maybe you are about to start a new one...  Great, but what did you take from this one?  Maybe you are mid-climb...  Look around you and assess, enjoy, experience this  moment.  Maybe you haven't started your climb at all...  Maybe that's because you are exactly in that place you always wanted to be.  Don't be so focused on hurrying up to get there!  "Gather ye rosebuds while he may." -Robert Herrick   

The destination will always be important, but it's the journey that creates an understanding of just how important it truly will be!

Remember that everything that can be won can also be lost. That doesn't mean you back down! It doesn't mean you shouldn't try! It doesn't mean you shouldn't push yourself! It doesn't mean you shouldn't prepare, experience, and fight for those things that matter to you. All the good, all the mountains to climb, all the moments we get to overcome start with the challenge and the courage to accept that challenge! They start with that choice to back down or to step up!  While the road may be riddled with obstacles, we must trust in our ability to maneuver through them as we have many times before.  All our blessings started somewhere.  Our greatest achievements didn't happen by chance! You don't need to carry it all on your shoulders. You don't need to do it all by yourself!  Why would you?  There are too many people who are willing to help you. There are blessings everywhere!   Look around at the people in your life. Look at those that matter most and chances are they are ready to catch you, to hold you up, to comfort you.  They are the ones who support you, care and share with you. In times where everything is good we may overlook that generosity, and in times of need we may forget the ability of others to give. There are people willing to give for no reason other than giving. There are people whose faith is strong enough for all of us. People who believe in the good in life and fight so that others can see it. There is no weakness in leaning on others in times of need. Let them be your rock, and be blessed to do the same for others when that time comes...  And it will come.

Everyone has fear.  Everyone gets emotional.  Everyone has moments of doubt, confusion and regret.  Realize that feeling those things, experiencing those moments, letting yourself cry it out, scream, punch the bag...  That means you care enough for it to matter.  It means that you can channel that emotion into the positive energy you need to push yourself beyond those boundaries.  There are no unrealistic dreams and goals only unrealistic limitations we set on ourselves.  Those moments of exhaustion, frustration, and disappointment are moments we must take a breath, take inventory of priorities, pick up our blessings and carry on.  There are always going to be opportunities to quit, but in as many of those there are, exists moments to excel, overcome, and finish the drill!

If the stars aren't aligned...  Align them! Look around at your blessings. Take notice of God and His presence in your life. Daily BITUB- "Work for Others"

Yesterday I found myself full of emotion.  I was excited for a moment for a pat on the back and then brought back to reality with the realization that it's not about what you've done, but about what you do. It's easy to get caught up in other people's frustrations, it's easier to be disappointed in their reactions, but we all play a role in moving forward toward solutions and doing what we can for others.  Every day we come face to face with challenges, with those that don't take ownership of their opportunities, with people who will put themselves before others no matter the impact it may have... That should never deter us from standing strong to our values, to living with our belief system, to pushing ourselves beyond limitations, to never wavering from the fact it isn't about us, but rather about making a difference for the people who matter most. After all what we did yesterday was simply another step towards doing it better today.  

As we move to the weekend I will leave you with the prayer I say every day (that one of my mentors gave me years ago).  It's a reminder of what it means to do what we do and be blessed that we can.

Prayer for Success in Work

Glorious St. Joseph, model of all those who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work conscientiously, putting the call of duty above my many sins; to work with thankfulness and joy, considering it an honor to employ and develop, by means of labor, the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, prudence and patience, never surrendering to weariness or difficulties; to work, above all, with purity of intention, and with detachment from self, having always death before my eyes and the account which I must render of time lost, of talents wasted, of good omitted, of vain complacency in success so fatal to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all after thy example, O Patriarch Joseph. Such shall be my motto in life and death.

Daily BITUB- "Embrace it!"

Enjoy all of it!  Embrace every aspect of life!  The good, the great, the bad and the blessings.  Look at each moment as opportunity.  Don't focus so much on the what, the why, the how, but be grateful because of the experience.  Pause long enough to enjoy the happy, and remember those feelings to help you push through the sad.  Make your moments memories.  Be your blessings.  Share your laughter, share your hurt, go ahead and cry when you must, shout when you should and smile big enough to light up the room when you can!  Don't forget to pray for others as you ask for your prayers to be answered.  Kiss your family good morning and good night.  Say "I love you" as much as you can.  Remember we all make mistakes, but we all have opportunities to fix them.  Sometimes you won't know the right choice, sometimes you'll make the wrong one, and other times it's simply about making one to move forward!  Enjoy the beautiful all around you and don't be afraid to show people how much you do.
