Our dreams and our pursuit of those dreams lead us in directions that can be painful at times and joyous at other times. However, we are blessed in all our pursuits because we are able to do just that… pursue them! There are those moments within the pursuit that you come to realize the type of person you are. Every step of the way provides a lesson that enlightens us to what it will take to be better and what we, as individuals, have the strength to endure. Life is not just about the lessons though. It is about living, experiencing and growing through those lessons.  It is about taking things away from each of those steps and using those moments each and every time God blesses us with the next opportunity! The next opportunity to pick ourselves up, to steady ourselves on our foundation of faith, and to get on with pursuing our next dream.

Daily BITUB- "Not Perfect"

I'm not perfect.  In fact, far from it.  I make mistakes.  I fall short of my goals. I miss the mark.  I doubt.  I let fear hold me back.  I've given up, given in, taken too much.  Yet...  Despite all that God hasn't left me.  He hasn't given up on me.  He's there even when I can't see Him.  He's there even when my faith is weak.  Thing is, it is up to us to do our part. It's up to us to be aware of what we do and why we do it!  It's up to us to pray, to be thankful, to ask forgiveness, to give it, to receive it, to love, to be loved...  To treat others how we ourselves want to be treated. Yes, and just as I have lived with shortcomings, there have been those times I have had successes.  I have reached my goals.  I have been spot on.  I have overcome doubt.  I have conquered my fears and pushed forward.  I've persevered, forgave, been forgiven, loved and been loved.  I've been blessed that others have treated me well and taught me to be better each and every day.  Through it all God has been there.  Through it all He has been my guide.  

Even though I'm not perfect. 

In fact, far from it.

Daily BITUB- "Answered Prayers"

What is an answered prayer?  A sign of some sort?  A phone call from a friend?  A smile from another?  Getting the job?  How about not getting it?  How about a safe trip?  A good night?  Getting healthy?  Finding your lost keys?  How about getting through a tough situation?  How about strength while you are in it?  Is it no rain on a vacation?  What about rain for a long drought in summer?  Is it blessings for your family and friends?  Is it a great day?  Is it simply waking up in the morning?  Is it the laughter of kids?  How about the quiet of them?  Is it your favorite team winning?  Is it to find love?  To give love?  To be loved?  

Yes...  Yes it is.

It's all those things we might not even remember saying. "God please...God help me... God why me... God give me this... God take this away."  

An answered prayer comes every moment of every day.  Don't miss them because you are asking for more while the ones you've been asking for are being answered.

So for today my answered prayer is that I am blessed to say "Thank You God! Thank You for all the times You answered and I didn't notice."

Daily BITUB- "Timing"

You can't always determine the timing of something that will change you.  You can't always dictate who will walk into your life.  You can't always anticipate a change in your company, your school, a government policy.  No, you can't control somethings that happen, but what you do control is how you allow those things to affect you.  It may take a lot to grab hold of the downward spiral it may create; may even wear you down to a point you don't know if you can go on. All of that is definitely some thing that can happen, but what can also happen is your ability to stand back up, to take control, to maneuver through those changes and challenges and influence the outcome!  You can tip the scales if you are willing to persevere.  Life can come at you at a mind numbing pace, but why not live it? Why not take each moment and make it matter?  While you may not be able to determine the timing of change, you can absolutely determine what comes next!  There is no bigger influence in your life than you!

Sometimes you just miss them. Those special people that have gone on to a better place.  A place where they always belonged.  A place where they watch over us.  Even knowing that though... You still miss them.   It's ok to miss them you know.  It's not that you don't cherish the memories.  It's not that you don't appreciate the moments you got to spend with them.  Sometimes things just trigger memories that make you long for new ones while basking in those of years past.  It's part of feeling.  It's part of reminiscing. It's part of sharing you with others.  Faith is a powerful thing.  It tells us to trust when things become difficult to comprehend.  It tells us not to question, but to hold tight to hope and love.  It tells us that God has a plan, a path for us, and as we travel it we will encounter what we need to reach the destinations we are supposed to reach.   I have faith.  I lean on it often, but sometimes you just miss them.

Those who simply refuse to allow the past to hold them back are the ones set on reaching future goals.  Sure we learn from the past and we grow from the experience, but we mustn't dwell on those things we can't change. Think about what really matters, and often you'll find the things that did happen won't be as important as the things that can happen.  Isn't that the beauty of a new day?  Isn't that the hope that we can build our new beginnings from?  Isn't that the catalyst to a loftier goal, a wild dream, a push to overcome the adversity in your path? Be forward thinking!  Look back just long enough to see how far you've progressed. Then look at where you want to go and start putting together what you have to get started. Trust in God to give you the rest as you go along.

Daily BITUB- "Forgive AND Forget"

I was having a discussion yesterday about forgiveness.  The person said to me they forgive, but they don't forget.  I used to think that was a good thing.  After all, you don't want to forget and allow things to happen again!  The thing is, holding on to those grudges won't help you carry on with what matters to you.  It doesn't change what happened, and honestly the burden is on you not them.  Forgiving must be all encompassing.  The burden of a grudge, the anger in a situation, the negative emotion can cloud you from clear decisions and hold you back from seeing that there is good in all things.  There are blessings to pick up if we lay down those grudges.  The dictionary says to forgive is to stop feeling angry or resentful toward (someone) for an offense, flaw, or mistake.  In order to stop completely, you must completely go in order to grow, and move on to things that are important to that growth.

Daily BITUB- "No Shortcuts"

What if everything came easy to you?  What if we found shortcuts, cut corners, and things were handed to us?  At first it may seem great.  It may give us the feeling that we won't have to work for anything...   That is of course until we do!  Then what?  Would we be prepared?  Would we be experienced enough?  Would we be spiritually, physically, and mentally fit to handle what is presented to us?  God gives us challenges, not that we must be punished, or that we did something wrong; it's quite the opposite.  He presents us with situations to strengthen our resolve and to build us up for the things He already knows we are going to face.  Life can't always be easy, and instead of questioning "why this", "why now", our focus should be on "what can I do next", "what must I learn from this moment", "how can I share it with others".  In the midst of the storm we may not see it, but we must carry on, for in the beauty of a new day those blessings will start to become much more clear.

How many battles are lost before they start?  We convince ourselves that we can't, we won't, we shouldn't way before we even try way too often.  After all, that's way easier isn't it?  Sure it is, but achieving goals, being successful, reaching higher isn't something that falls in our laps! No, it's something we must work at.  It's something we must push ourselves to achieve and it starts with a belief in our ability to do so.  By altering how we think we can reach levels we never thought possible.  Our mind can stop us in our tracks, or we can let it create keys to locked doors where we find ourselves pushing limitations, overcoming obstacles, and chasing our loftiest goals.  Don't be afraid to soar!  Don't be afraid to climb!  Don't be afraid to give it all you are!  You trusting that you can is already a step in winning the battle and puts you that much closer to making your dreams your reality.

So how do you keep your faith?  How do you keep pushing on?  How do you convince yourself that what you are doing is worth it?  Not easy is it?  The craziest, most challenging times often come together.  If we had a moment to breathe maybe it would be ok, but it's one thing after another and we wonder how we can sustain blow after blow...   but then we do!  Remember, everything that comes at us has gone through God's hands.  All we endure is part of His plan for us.  The crosses we carry, faith tells us we should.  Maybe the trials we are facing today are in preparation for those yet to come.  Maybe it is getting us ready for a greater fight.  Maybe it is providing us the experiences we need to help others whose paths we will cross.  Maybe, just maybe, it is God's way of reminding us to appreciate life and all that comes with it.  Life is a gift! The beauty in taking the long way around, through the valleys, the peaks, the joy, the pain, the sad, the happy...   That is the blessing in living it.

Daily BITUB- "Focus on His Will"

Have you ever stood before a situation and immediately felt like it was a lost cause?  I mean after all, you are outnumbered!  The odds are clearly against you being able to overcome, to push through, to win.  I think we've all been there and there are times that we have backed down for fear of the fight.  I try not to dwell on the things I could have done if only I had tried, but as it creeps back into my mind, I've learned to take it and focus on how I can use it to be better today.  The focus mustn't be on the belief that the trial before us is insurmountable, but rather on the belief that God's will shall be done.  Why wouldn't we try everything if we had that as our focus?  Why wouldn't we pick ourselves up and tread through the deepest valleys?  How can we appreciate the peaks if we don't?  Despite the odds, despite the possibility that we may not win, we must believe that our victory is in the experience, the ability to fight in the first place, and a testimonial to who we are...  A testimonial that when it's all said and done we can say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful." (Timothy 4:7)

With each new day comes new hope.  With each new moment comes new opportunity.  With each new challenge comes new possibilities.  With each passing minute of the day anything can happen, both good and bad, but it is up to us to determine how we will carry on...  and carry on we must.  Life is ever evolving and we must evolve with it.  We must take what is presented to us and determine what we will do with it. Will we walk away, will we take it in, will we push through, will we give it all we are and pull others with us?  There is no right answer, you know.  No definite answer to what you will do. Nothing that tells us what choice to make. There is only the understanding we mustn't shy away from making a choice, from facing life and all it gives us. We must humble ourselves before God, pray, and trust in faith. Then we must live our days to the fullest! For it is in living we show just how blessed we can be and how grateful we are for the opportunity to make our life the best life it can be.

Daily BITUB- "Give Him Your Worry"

They say give your worry to God.  Sometimes that's way easier said than done isn't it?  Try as you might you find yourself drifting into a place where the worry can consume you.  God knows we will worry.  He knows we will carry those crosses, and He knows when we will put them down even if we don't. In the meantime we must do our best to push ourselves through the emotions, the confusion, the fear of what could come so that we may stay the course.  We must lean on faith, lean on others if we must, and give ourselves a chance to see the light in the dark.  Again, easier said than done, but believe you can and when it is time you will. 

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (

Philippians 4:6-7)

Life is filled with possibilities!   Each new day brings something new to us.  However, we must understand that life will be equally filled with new challenges we must face.  It will be filled with things we must alter, grow from, and change to maneuver through the path God has in store for us.  Living means experiencing!  It means running into our moments head first.  It means having faith that we have what it takes, and God will provide the rest as we go!  Our world is filled with blessings, and as I often say there is no shortage of doubt, it is the abundance of belief that gets overlooked.  An abundance of what can be versus what can't.  An abundance of the good that sometimes we can't see just yet, but will come when God knows we need to see it.  Yes, with each new day we must be willing to take on the challenges in order to truly bask in the opportunity within each new possibility that new day can bring!

Daily BITUB- "His Way"

God works in mysterious ways.  His plans often elude us until the moment we realize what He was doing.  It can be days, weeks, even years before it sinks in, and even then we may not be able to quite grasp it all.  While we often hear we shouldn't question God, even the strongest in faith will.  God understands we won't always accept what He has in store for us, He even knows before we do when we will turn our backs on Him...  but throughout it all he will never leave our side. Today is one of those times I find myself questioning, I find myself at a loss for words, but deep down I know God has His plan. So I'll pray.  I'll pray for His will to be done, for my faith to hold me up, and for the understanding and strength to believe even when it seems impossible to believe.

Over the past few days several people asked me what my New Year's Resolutions were.  Honestly, I don't have any resolutions, but rather I am focused on continuing the journey I've already started. A journey that began years ago and continues today.  A journey to learn what I can, share what I must, to give more and take less, to listen better, and to focus more on the good than the bad. A journey of choices to be a better father, husband, son, brother, friend.  A journey that finds me expressing more of what matters to me and prioritizing to put those people and things at the top of the list. A journey of love not hate.  A journey to try and forgive quicker, to put the grudges aside, and to show compassion, understanding, and support.  A journey of faith… Faith in tomorrow, faith in today, faith that God is in control.  A journey that reminds me I must do my part to appreciate God's blessings by living with my values and morals intact. A journey to pursue happiness, but never at the expense of others.  A journey that brings me into 2017, just the way I finished 2016...  Focused, determined, and committed to continuing the path.  A journey to Believe in the Unbelievable possibilities of what each new year will bring.

Are you so busy trying to create a life for them you forget to live life with them?  It's easy to do, and before you know it life has passed you by.  You've missed moments and overlooked memories, but you don't have to keep doing it!  Thing is your here now.  You have the opportunity in front of you to change course.  It's not too late to change.  It's not too late to start.  Every day you wake up is another chance to influence the outcome of the day! It's another chance to love and be loved. It's another day to express your feelings, and show those that matter most to you that they do!  Play a game with your kids, hold your spouse's hand, write them a note, share your day with them, call your best friend, visit your grandparents, tell your parents thank you, remind your brothers and sisters about the things only they would know!  Tell them they are your reason for living, your reason for being, your purpose...  After all you may just find they have been so busy they have been wanting to tell you the same.

You can't always expect things to fall in your favor, but you sure can set the expectation that no matter how it falls you can and will handle it.  That isn't something that can be given to you though.  It's something you must believe.  It's something you create, you hold on to, you trust in.  It's giving yourself the opportunity to overcome and having faith enough to see it through until the end.  Is it easy?  Probably not, but will it be easier to sit back and settle?  Maybe in the moment it seems like it would, but eventually it will catch up to you and inevitably we will have to face it.  So why not face it now? Why not face it on your terms?  Why not face it with the power of prayer, the multitude of blessings in your life, the people who support you, the people who believe in you, and God...  God who is and always will be right there ready when you are!  Ready, when life goes your way, and especially when you feel it doesn't.

Daily BITUB- "Happy New Year"

With 2016 behind us it is easy to reflect on what we didn't do.  Thing is, that isn't going to get it done now is it?  In fact, every day should be spent working towards whatever goal you decide to set for yourself. Think about what is in front of you.  Think about where you want to go, how you are going to get there, and what you will need to accomplish it.  Sit down and talk to yourself.  Be open and honest with where you are.  Tell yourself what matters most.  Tell yourself why you do what you do.  Set your bar high and your expectations higher and don't let yourself off the hook.  It isn't about out with the old and in with the new, it's about a renewal of things you forget you had in you. The fire, the passion, the desire to be more for yourself, for your family, for your spouse, for your kids, and for those that matter most to you.  Realign priorities if you must!  Figure out who should and shouldn't be in your life.  Tweak what must be tweaked and overhaul the things that need to be overhauled. Don't be afraid of the challenges, instead embrace the opportunity to push yourself to your limits!  It isn't until you reach them that you can surpass them!  Now, be grateful for all you did accomplish in 2016.  Be appreciative of the blessings, even the smallest ones, that got you through the year! Give all thanks to God for the gift of life and show your appreciation for another day by living it!  

If you didn't do what you wanted in 2016 then pick yourself up and get after it in 2017!  The time is now, the moment is yours... Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and have a blessed week, day and 2017!
