Daily BITUB- “Opportunity Knocking?”

Are you preparing yourself for opportunity? I've heard people often say that they will be ready when the opportunity arises. Then it does and they aren't. We must be in constant work and development mode. There are countless chances for us to learn and experience. There are even more chances to stop waiting for opportunity and to create opportunity! Most successful people aren't looking they are creating. They are taking what they can from each situation and elevating it into lessons, to stepping stones, to that next level. Preparation is constant and self development is ongoing. Those are also choices, and entirely up to you if you are willing to do them or not. You don't have time, you make time. You don't have resources, you make due with what you have and gather up and create what you need along the way. Opportunity won't always knock... Sometimes you will have to knock first and if that doesn't work then kick that door down!

Are you cooperating with yourself? How often do we push against ourselves? We do it in many ways... Shortcuts, putting ourselves down, doubting our abilities, not giving ourselves the benefit of the doubt. We have to be in collaboration with what our heart wants. We have to sit ourselves down sometimes and realign our focus and reassure ourselves why we do what we do. There is nothing wrong with a checkpoint to see if we are progressing as we expected, and most importantly as we intended. Ask yourself, are you being intentional in your journey? Are you getting easily diverted from your dream? If you are maybe it isn't your dream. Maybe it isn't your passion. Maybe you forgot why you wanted it and it's time to decide if you still do. Be your biggest ally, be your biggest influence, and it's ok to be one of your biggest fans. Sit yourself down and reflect. It's time to partner with your heart and get back to pursuing those dreams that make you passionate about life and living it.

Your dreams, your vision, your destination isn't going to matter if you don't embrace it. You have to let it be known this is what you are doing and why you are doing it. Share it with those that matter most to you. They can support you or they at least need to know what your focus is. Those in your life need to understand your priorities and how important those priorities are going to be. You aren't being selfish, in fact it's the total opposite. You are being considerate, honest, transparent. You are unconsciously asking for support. You are telling others you will chase this down and they can help, but you will not allow them or anyone to create distractions. Reaching beyond limitations is hard enough. You don't need to self create excuses and adversity. Take inventory and keep those things that move you and get rid of the excess baggage that is holding you back and weighing you down. Live your life! Realize your passion! Be your blessings! Make it matter and embrace it.

Why are you sitting around letting your dreams pass you by? Why are you surrounding yourself with dream stealers? You either find a way to expand your horizon by realizing that your vision matters, or you let it die out. There is no in between, no half way, no almost when it comes to reaching your full potential. Isn't it easy to sit and soak up the negative? Isn't it easy to sit quietly while you are being led in a direction you know isn't at all where you want to go? Of course it's easy. You won't have to step up, step out, progress. You can lie dormant and wish things will happen... OR you can make things happen. It's a reoccurring theme. Person pushes, dedicates themselves, accepts the challenge, takes a risk, leaps in faith and they succeed! They reach their dream! They inspire! What you didn't hear is the setbacks, the failures, the fear, the moments of doubt, the instances when quitting was more appealing than fighting. You hear, you see, you know the success, but it didn't happen by accident and it sure didn't happen overnight. It takes time, it takes honesty with yourself about why you are holding yourself back, it takes getting passed the constant excuses, it's takes making time, it takes a motivation that goes beyond the norm and into the unknown. It takes faith, prayer, commitment, focus, and the desire to chase down that dream that you know full well you won't be complete until you realize it.

Daily BITUB- “Pick Your Battles”

You've heard the saying pick your battles. Agreed, but what if the battle picks you? It happens. Sometimes the negativity, the adversity, the challenge shows up at our doorstep. Try as we might to avoid confrontation it seems to find us. I've learned that often it's choices we made that put us in the path of those battles, but regardless when those battles present themselves it's on us to push through them. We all face them. Sometimes they are in the form of emotions, doubts, addictions, depression, anger issues, self esteem issues... The list can go on and on. Sometimes the battle is loud and present, other times it's quiet and private. Whatever the battle though we have to realize we never have to face it alone. I know that's easier said than done as part of the battle may be denial or embarrassment. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it... You are worth it! God doesn't create mistakes. Your greatest weapon often is prayer. Then it's realizing that God may not answer like you want, but you must have faith He will answer as you need exactly when you need it. It's not your timeline, but His. Make no mistake though you have to do your part. You have to dig in and settle into that foundation of faith. You have to pay attention to the blessings, big or small, he is placing in your path. Sometimes the battle picks you, but be blessed that part of the victory may simply be realizing you are strong enough, good enough, capable enough to fight it.

A full heart is a full person. If not coming from the heart chances are it is not sincere. If not sincere it won't stick. In fact it won't matter in the grand scheme of things because it will falter when things get tough. It's not honest or real. We can mask so many things, and we do. We sometimes hide our emotions, we keep our thoughts to ourselves, we fear sharing our ideas, we doubt our worth. That is until it stirs our heart. That is until without it we aren't complete. That is until we can't fill our heart because we aren't paying attention to what's in it. We are powerful in our ability to persuade ourselves to look past what matters because often those endeavors, those dreams, those goals are just plain hard to achieve. If we don't let ourselves listen, live, become what is in our heart we are going to miss out on the things that will carry us when all the instant gratification is gone. We will miss the beauty of the journey and the blessing that our full heart makes us a full person.

I know that quote might not be something you agree with. After all you don't need anything else on you. You might be letting other's influence make you doubt you can handle anything else.  In fact you may think why me? Why do I have to carry all this? Why does God continue to think I can handle all this? I can't answer that. In fact only you can. That's between you and God. Why does God feel you can handle it and you don't? Doesn't faith say we trust in Him. This is all part of the journey. It's part of the destination and the progression you must go through to get to where God knows you can and should be. We sometimes think we know better than God, but He already knows where this journey ends. The balance you need comes from within. It's belief that what you have on you can be carried. Nobody gets to influence that as much you. Nobody can believe in it for you. It's you. Always has been. As John Maxwell said, "It's not how heavy the load, it's how you carry it."

If you aren't willing to put the time and effort into it then don't be surprised when it doesn't happen. Some things take work. Some things take even more work. There are sacrifices to be made. Priorities to be realigned. Maybe discussions to help those closest to you understand where your heads at and what you need to do. You might need to go to bed earlier and wake sooner. You might have to decide that putting in the extra hours, the additional sweat, the energy is worth it. You are going to hit walls. You will have obstacles. You will have doubters, naysayers, negativity. You will face adversity. What you do with it, what you allow to influence you, what you acknowledge is up to you. You better want it. You better be dedicated and committed to reaching your goals and living those dreams because you are going to need it. Then when it's all said and done with, you will realize it mattered. You will realize that you are capable of so much more than you often give yourself credit for. You will realize that you are the biggest influence in achieving, succeeding, realizing your dreams. You will understand that putting in the time and effort was exactly what made it happen.

Sometimes you have to see the vision that's out there. You have to dream big. You have to put it out of reach. That's where the passion to excel gets its legs. Think about it. If you really need it then you'll find a way. You won't settle, you won't give in, and no setback will make you quit. You will gather up all of you and when necessary somehow, someway find more. You find it because that energy, that feeling of accomplishment, that winning attitude always exists, but you need a catalyst to light that fire! That catalyst is not in "easy". It's not in lay downs. It's in the fight. It's in the valley. It's in the dark moments where we find that God has given us the skills, the blessings, the ability, but we must put ourselves in that place that demands we use it. We aren't obligated to push ourselves. Nobody will make us. There is no amount of "you have to" that will convince us, unless we believe. Look hard. Look past the fear, the uncharted territory, the doubt, the shadows... There in the distance is that vision. You really want it? Then let's go get it!

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."- Ephesians 6:10 

Are you surrounding yourself with those that encourage you to dream or those who are destroying your vision of it? It matters. Look around you and take inventory. Who is surrounding you? The naysayers, the doubters, the negative people feed off your energy. Yet they can only get what you give. They can only cast shadows when you don't allow your light to shine enough to cover your world. God gave you a way. He has given you strength, guidance, courage. Use it. Let it be the beacon in the distance and the foundation you walk on each and every day. Let the beauty of the positive that does exist in. You have to let it, you have to see it, you have to feed it! We can all be products of our environment or we can control our environment. We can influence it, change it, and make it what we know it can be. You are in control of who surrounds you. You control who is in your light. You control whether you'll let God in and let Him lead the way. You control if you want to shine, and just how bright you will.

There are choices and decisions that must be made on those choices all day and every day. Some are bigger than others. Some are easy and eventually you are going to have to make a tough decision at some point. You may find that you aren't sure which way to go. You may even find you don't want to make a decision at all. Not making one won't help. It won't just go away. Guess what? You may not think so, but I'm telling you that you got this. You already know what needs to happen. You have faith. Say a prayer for guidance. Let God's wisdom overtake you and do what you feel is right! As you grow and develop you will realize the decisions are bigger and harder. You will realize not all decisions are easy, some aren't going to be the most popular, but deep down you will know which ones matter most. You will know because you will have that feeling that what comes next is going to be part of who you are, where you are going, and part of God's plan to get you there.

Know your limitations. Know what is and isn't possible. Know what you can and can't do. So many obstacles we self create. We let doubt creep in and then we create walls that keep us in. How many times have we gave up before we even tried? How often have we convinced ourselves that we didn't need to chase that dream, accomplish the task, reach for the stars? How often do we choose the road often travelled? I know, it's easier to be complacent than it is to challenge ourselves. After all why put ourselves through that when we can just settle. Thing is that feeling of "what if" won't go away. Sure we can suppress it for a moment, but at some point it makes its way back into our head. Regret is awful. So much more awful than trying and falling short. In fact falling short isn't a setback it's still further than we were. It's still progression. It's still a lesson, an experience, growth! I've said it before... There are no unrealistic goals, dreams, endeavors, only unrealistic limitations we set upon ourselves. So stop thinking about what life isn't and start living and pursuing all the beautiful possibilities of what life can be.

Daily BITUB- “God Wants Us”

You know God isn't sitting there needing you. He gives us the will to come to Him. He gives us blessings, even miracles to convince us how great He is, but He doesn't have to. He shouldn't need to, but yet He does. He does because He knows we need it. We talk about faith, but often the most trying times is when that faith should carry us, but we question it instead. What does God do in those moments? Provides us light. He reminds us through our family, friends, a sign, a calling, a thought that we get to be His. We get to give ourselves to Him, we get His Grace, we get the blessing of a new day, the hope, and the unconditional love He always provides. Let me say that again... ALWAYS provides. It's on us to accept it. It's on us to realize it. It's on us to believe when it seems impossible to believe. It's on us to let Him in and keep Him in. 

It's on us. 

Yes, God doesn't need us, but make no mistake God always wants us.

You can find inspiration everywhere. You may be moving so fast throughout your day though you don't slow down long enough to appreciate it. It's there though. In the biggest influences- family, friends, children, the promise of this new day. In the smallest influences-a glance, sunrise, smile, a quiet moment. Thing is being inspired is a matter of choice. What inspires you may not inspire another. It's yours. Inspiration shapes our goals and cultivates our dreams. The most influential inspirations in our lives help make us who we are. One of the most promising parts of everyday is the ability to allow that inspiration to move us to fight, push, grow, learn and to be!

I've heard people say there are not enough hours in the day to get done everything that needs to be done. What I've found as I've focused on being intentional in my interactions and being specific and honest in what my priorities are that there are enough hours to get done what matters most. Someone once told me that if it matters then you make time. Such simple but strong words and truth. We can go about doing the things that enable us to grow, learn, be better. We can make the changes in our lifestyle to influence what and who is important to us or we don't. We don't and we allow the things that matter least to fill our days. Maybe because they bring instant gratification, maybe because it's easier, maybe because we aren't honest with ourselves about what we really need in our lives. It's hard sometimes to realign your focus, but realigning focus realigns your energy into the things that bring you joy, satisfaction, and growth. They help you become in tune and closer to who you are and in turn to the ones that are on this journey with you. Before you know it there are enough hours in the day and they have been filled with the things that fill our hearts, nourish our soul, and make us long for another day where the hours provide us exactly what God intended for us to fill them with.

God intends for us to learn, grow and experience our path. He also intends for us to make decisions along the way with Him in mind. Listen to your instincts. If it doesn't feel right it probably isn't. Those instincts deep within that guide you are filled with the values, morals and experiences that have educated you and that continue to help you grow. If you are confused, lost or wondering what comes next pray for the guidance and the strength to move forward. Pray and remember the things already in your life that have helped you before.  You have faith. Faith that allows you to leap and pursue your dreams against all odds at times. You have the support of those that love you and the comfort that only they can bring. You have the beauty of the blessings that have been by your side, that have surrounded you, backed you and pulled you whenever you needed it most. Remember that everyday is another beautiful opportunity to experience all life has to offer. The peaks, valleys, the joy and the pain. Daily BITUB- “Be Stronger”

With all the bad and negative in the world today it is so difficult to stay the course. Yet it's easy to lose faith. Easy to question and easy to be angry at circumstances, each other, even God.  Easy to point fingers, pass the blame, and take sides. It's easy to become divided. As hard as it may be though, this is exactly the time we mustn't do that. This is the time we must pull together and hold tight to one another. We must open our minds, give freely and listen to each other. We must be strong for those who can't be. We must have faith for those doubting theirs. We must give thanks to God for the light in those dark moments and we must offer to do what we can when we can. That may only be a prayer, a thought, a promise to keep moving forward and to think positive as we seek resolutions, solutions, and answers to our prayers. Yes, times are tough, but it is through faith, belief, and love that we must be tougher.

Choose it. Own it. Express it. Love it. Live it. You are in control. The moment. The minute. The second. The hour. The day. Your life. Give yourself a chance to be. Give yourself the benefit of the doubt. Don't stop and don't give up before you even start.  Don't throw in the towel after one setback. Nobody is going to convince you that you can move on, that's on you. You have to want it. Your have to feel it. You have to need it. There will be crossroad after crossroad. Choices upon choices. Decision after decision. There is no wrong one as each choice you make is part of who you are. It's building upon the foundation you set long ago. There are no instructions to living your life only doing what you believe is right, living the way you know you can, creating the experiences, learning the lessons, leaping over the obstacles, pushing through the fear. You want it? You want a better life? You want to change? You want to change the world? You want to influence the outcome? Choose it. Own it. Express it. Love it. Live it.

What if you shared your story? What if we all did? Things aren't always perfect and things aren't always bad either. I know it's hard to determine that in our world of social media where often we tend to live in extremes. You have those hiding behind the perfect selfie and others who post nothing but the bad and negative. What if, though, we shared it all? What if we were honest about our ups and downs? What if we were human? We all face it. We all have our valleys, we all have our mountains to climb, and we all have our peaks. We are not perfect, and it is through those "imperfections" we become unique. It is how we become who we are, what we want to be, and who want to be it for. Go ahead and share your story. Share it all. You just might find others who are walking the same road you are and they need your light to help them illuminate their path. They need your truth to help them realize that not every picture you see is worth a 1000 words, but the words in your story could be the start to someone's 1000 pictures.
