Rocky is one of my favorite movies. The tag line for the original Rocky was "His whole life was a million to one shot." I love a good success story. I love a good comeback. I love someone refusing to settle for circumstances and instead fights to change it. We live in a place where many people feel entitled. They have this feeling they deserve answers, deserve status, deserve more, but the question is are they, we, willing to fight for it? I've said it often in writing, in speaking engagements, face to face conversations it is not what we deserve, but what we are willing to earn. What will we stand up for, fight for, believe in and go after. What will our commitment level be when adversity is at its peak? What are we willing to earn when opportunity presents itself and is riddled with setbacks, challenges, let downs, obstacles? We aren't owed anything, but we owe it to ourselves to do the things we set out to do. We deserve nothing, but we are capable of earning everything. After all even if it's a million to one shot it is still a shot! 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is you find that you are capable. That the throws of life are there so we can earn our way, and in doing so learn to appreciate the beauty in achieving what we set out to achieve.

Daily BITUB- “Peaks and Valleys”

The mountain is so high. You can't help but question if you will ever reach that peak. You are at an impasse. You can stop or you can keep going. Inside you though, you know you don't want to stop. You can't give up. You can't stop trying. You are better than that. It seems you've been idle for quite sometime, but you are not. I realize it is difficult to see sometimes that you are progressing. As much as you have been fighting you feel like you should be so much further along. Truth is, others see it, but we are harder on ourselves than anyone ever could be. We don't realize that sometimes it takes a valley to push us to our peak. So, take a moment and think about the real progression you have made. Look where you are today. Your faith in God, His faith in you to handle the adversity, the strength you have built up, the resilience you have developed over the course of this journey... It's all there, but we get clouded in our setbacks that we overlook our achievements. Look at the joy around you. Listen to the encouragement of the people who know what you have already accomplished. Allow yourself to feel the comfort of the blessings God surrounds you with. Those blessings that give you the time you need to get back up and fight for what you believe in. Don't ever doubt that you have everything it will take to get to exactly where you know you are capable of being. It may not happen as quickly as you would like, but trust it is happening at the exact pace God intends so that you will understand and appreciate the beauty of that peak once you are there.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that where ever you stand on your journey, peak or valley, you know God is with you. He was there when you started, He travels with you, and He is already standing at your destination waiting for you with open arms.

Daily BITUB- “Thankful”

Someone said to me we shouldn't just give thanks this week, but do it all the time. I agree, but that's not how it works. So, if this week makes people take pause and be thankful then I'm all for it. If it makes people volunteer, give back, look for miracles, pray harder, remember those we have lost, appreciate those we haven't, then I'm for that too. We absolutely should give thanks each and every day, but reality is we won't. We will go about our days finding more moments to complain about than to appreciate. We all do it. We all miss the opportunities to just say thank you to each other, to our family, to our parents, our person, our kids, our pastor, our church family, God. We miss the moments, but this week more people won't. More people will realize just how beautiful life is and how grateful we get to be, and I say thanks be to God for weeks like this week where so many will simply be appreciative that God gives us so much to appreciate and we have something to remind us to.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find a moment to appreciate life, your blessings (they are there), and that you are able to take a breath and give thanks to God for He is great.

Daily BITUB- “Be You”

Do you spend most of your day worried about what others think of you? Are you focusing on how you can please others? Are you going through your day trying to make everyone happy? Maybe you think you aren't, but sometimes we get caught up in self preservation we don't allow ourselves to have opinions, thoughts, speak our mind, share ideas. Everyone has something to bring to the table. God gave everyone gifts. Honoring Him is using them. Being ourselves, being who we are in all aspects of our life, being honest with what we want and having the courage to say it can create relationships in our lives that are more meaningful because they are grounded in reality and truth. So, spend your time and energy being an authentic you. Be open to God's gifts and express it openly. Focus on pleasing Him by being the you that He intended you to be. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is You and my prayer for you today is that you allow God's gifts to resonate in your life and your relationships. That you find the beauty in being an authentic you and focus on not pleasing others, but pleasing Him.

My memories on Facebook popped up and 8 years ago I wrote "Thank God for giving you what you need, and more importantly not giving you things you don't!" I remember where I was in that moment and thinking back it applies even more now than it did then. In fact I couldn't imagine how significant that statement would impact my current life. God is great, plain and simple. He does things as He knows it should be done and He calls on us to have the faith to trust in that. Have you ever thought about things you've asked God for and in the moment your frustration out weighs your faith when it doesn't come? Then you look back and realize why it didn't! If you only knew then what you know now. Maybe you wouldn't have been so frustrated, angry, confused. Maybe, though, now you will be less compelled to question why. Though, let's face it, we will question it again. We will and God already knows that and at some point, maybe 8 years from now we will sit back and think, "I see what you did there God." We will remember once again that God doesn't answer prayers as we want, but will always answer as we need. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find those unbelievable moments that remind you that God is always in control... Always.

Daily BITUB- “Take a Moment”

Are you taking a moment to yourself? Are you reflecting, meditating, relaxing, talking to God. It's important that you find time for you to remember why you are you. Life can be crazy. We can get so busy making a life we forget what and who we are living for. We miss moments, we overlook opportunities, we don't treat people the way we want. We forget the value of listening, of patience, of quality vs. quantity. We forget what it's like to sit and have a good home cooked meal. We don't laugh like we used to, tell stories like we want to, or be there for those that matter like we need to. Sometimes we have to sit, breathe, think and pray. Pray about where we are, pray about where we are going, pray for others, pray for guidance, pray with a thankful heart for our blessings. Sometimes we need those sit down, do nothing moments to give us back our perspective. To remind us the beauty of living a life that we created, not a life that is pushing us in directions we never wanted to go. To remind us of the destination and absolute joy of each and every day we are blessed to be able to live a life with opportunity to get there. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is you and my prayer for you today is that you find guidance in your day, love in your heart, and are able to be on a path that helps you reach your goals, be thankful for the moments to do so, all the while walking with God.

Daily BITUB- “Greener Grass”

What if someone else described their ideal life as the one you are living and often complain about? It's easy to overlook the things we have because we get so clouded in our thoughts about the things we don't. I've said often that the greener grass we are looking for makes it difficult to see we are already standing on someone else's idea of greener grass. Don't get me wrong it's ok to pursue more and to dream bigger, but the opportunity to appreciate our blessings is constant. Think about where you are and take a moment to really look around. There is always something there that reminds you how blessed you are. There is always a reminder of God's love. If you struggle to see anything just remember that every breath we take, every sunrise, every sunset is a reminder of His gift of life and the ability for us to live it. So appreciate the day, the smile, the hug, the job, the laughter of children, the helping hand, the friendships, the kids, your person, the love given and the love you get, and God's unconditional love for us all. Appreciate it and don't let those moments pass you by.

Daily BITUB- “Don’t Conform”

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." (Romans 12:2)

The world has a way of beating us into submission. It can deal blow after blow and stop us dead in our tracks with a feeling of helplessness. It's hard to imagine in those moments just how much we are far from helpless. In fact help is often right in front of us, but it's difficult to see through all the frustration, anger, doubt, pity, and fear we seem to place right in its way. Let's be real... It's hard not to do that when all feels lost. It's hard not to do when you've prayed for relief only to find more anguish. The thing is, faith has no limits that we don't put on it, but boy do we. The thought that help is around the next corner is so hard to believe, but we must. We have to trust in things by allowing ourselves to find comfort, to be refreshed, to pick up our cross with the faith that God won't let us drop it. We pick it up, we carry it, and we do it for as long as God needs us to because that is His will! Sure people will tell you differently, but if you truly believe then you believe. You do it no matter the circumstance. You do it because it's in you to follow the path you know God is traveling with you. You can fall victim to the world that tells you all is bad, that you aren't enough, that humanity is done, or you let your mind be renewed by the constant and overwhelming faith that is God and His Grace, and you carry on transformed and ready for whatever comes your way. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you open your heart and mind so that you may be transformed and renewed by God's Grace and His unconditional love for all of us.

Daily BITUB- “Fill the Gaps”

Have you ever admitted to yourself  there are gaps in your life? Sometimes we miss them because we have them filled with things that simply provide short term satisfaction... Things that don't last and create even bigger gaps when they are gone. We all have gaps.  Are there gaps in knowledge, gaps in behaviors, gaps in relationships? Gaps between you and your relationship with God? Maybe we allow things to be overlooked when we can, but somehow those gaps find a way to expose us at the most inopportune times. Sometimes those gaps grow beyond our ability to stand at all. It's easy to tell someone else how to fill those gaps, but hard to practice what we often preach. Thing is, there is always a way to fill the gap. Always a solution to the problem, always an opportunity to learn when you lack the knowledge, always a chance to work at having better more meaningful relationships, and God is always ready for us to move closer to Him. We must first acknowledge there is an opportunity, and the next step is to understand that as hard as it is, as much as we want to ignore them, that we must grab hold of what matters and use it to fill those gaps. Strip away all the other things creating the illusions that things are ok and when you do "these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13). What you start to realize that those things there can fill a lot of gaps, and you coming together with God will fill the rest.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is You and my prayer for you today is that you are able to allow God to help you fill the gaps with His love. That you realize you can and in allowing God's Grace to be abundant in your life you will.

Daily BITUB- “Bystander?”

Are you looking for something to hold you over until this moment passes you by or are you willing to push this moment along? How often are we bystanders in our own stories? We have to stop wishing for things and start making our wishes come true. Get behind something already! Everybody has potential. Everybody has opportunity. Everybody can reach that next level, but not everyone will. People willing to put it all out there probably didnt start that way, but they started somewhere. They started period. You can't expect to have a better tomorrow if you aren't creating the moments today. What's your "right now" plan? What do you need in this moment to lay the foundation to grow? Maybe you are that close to reaching a peak, but that last climb seems out of reach. Yeah, maybe, but how are you going to know if you don't give it a go? That's where we miss, because we don't give ourselves moments to take chances. We scare ourselves into submission. We get complacent and we settle when we know that it isn't enough. We know that because deep down we are stronger, more passionate, more focused, and more in tune with that gut instinct that says we have to carry on. We have to move forward and that means we have to stop being bystanders and start being active participants in creating, living, and believing in the life we want to live. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my dream for you today is that you allow God's blessings to be a part of your life and you are able to see the beauty of being an active participant in the gift of life.

Daily BITUB- “You Got This”

Questions, questions, doubts, questions. What is your biggest concern about it? You knew what was coming when you started, but you started anyway. Didn't you work up to this? You aren't giving yourself credit where it's due. You have been preparing all along, even when you didn't know it. All those moments God placed in your path were intentional. Today is as good a day as any to remember that passion you felt the day you decided to chase this down. Actually everyday is. Refocus! Reenergize! Recommit! You are more experienced now. You have a better hold of those emotions that held you back before because you know what to expect. You've already surpassed the  limitations you thought you had. Think about that. At this point there is no way to tell how far you can go. You just have to go. You prayed about it. You've had prayers answered. Just look around. You are encouraged by those who love you! You have God in your corner. You have your faith. You have hope. Yes, there are those who say you can't, but channel their thoughts to the energy needed to try harder. Put that chip on your shoulder. Remember though that you don't have anything to prove. God loves you for you, and your closest supporters will always love you. They don't want you to do it for them. They need you to do it for you. Take your blessings, gather your faith and Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and let's go. Today is going to be a good day!

My prayer for you today is that you are able to remember that feeling that set you on that path towards your dreams. That you find it again and that you believe in the possibilities of what can be. Remember that through God all is possible.

Daily BITUB- “Solution Thinking”

You ever have those people who are amazing at identifying the problems? They are even more amazing at shooting down every solution you bring to the table. We all have those people, but that's ok. Don't allow that to discourage you. Don't stop sharing. Don't stop offering up your ideas. If you decided it's something that must be done then keep working to find ways to do it. You can take feedback, offer it, help, coach, but some find themselves caught up in the negative because it's easier to point out the issues than it is to face them. You may have to draw a line in the sand at some point, you may lose acquaintances, you may make people think, you may make people step up, and you may change people's ways of thinking. You may have to tell someone you can no longer be around them because they aren't willing to do the heavy lifting necessary  to accomplish the task at hand. It happens, and as you find yourself doing that more often before you know it you are surrounded by people who are challenging the norm, raising the bar, not ok with how it's always been done, and ready to take on the adversity and obstacles that are going to come. Life is full of opportunity for all of us to grab hold of. It is a blessing of knowledge, experiences, challenges, growth, lessons, and faith. It's so much of what we want it to be and living a life full of solution oriented thoughts creates a place where we get to find out just how much better we can be today than we were yesterday.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find yourself surrounded by positive and if you aren't you have enough courage and faith to seek it out!

What's it going to be? 

Who are you going to be? 

You can have the credit if you want it. You can take more than you give. You can discourage others. You can be the naysayer. You can create doubt, bring problems to the table, be negative. You can do all you can to back out, back down, give in... Or not. You know that every day you choose? Every day you wake up you get to decide just how you will give thanks to God. You get to determine how you will glorify Him. He gave you a light to shine. He gave you a mind to think positive and good. He gave you eyes to see the potential. He gave you hands to help others. He gave you a heart to love. He gave us His only Son so that we may live. He takes us on a journey of faith, hope, and love if we want to go on that journey with Him. He gives us a world where we can be whatever we decide. Your choice. 

What's it going to be? 

Who are you going to be? 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you realize it is a choice. You get to do, be, become anything you want, and trust that God will provide everything you need along the way.

"Every good thought you think is contributing it's share to the ultimate result of your life." -G. Kleiser 

We can think the good or bad into any situation. We can pray that this moment is filled with opportunity or we can pray that it passes us by. We can execute on our plans, or we can be complacent and let those plans go to waste. We may not be able to always control the situation, but we don't have to let the situation control us. You don't have to take it for what it is, you can create what you need it to be. There is too much settling going on these days. Raise your level of appreciation for all God's gifts in your life and do something with them. Be present in your experiences. Stop staring at the phone, stop listening to the naysayers, quit being discouraged by others, stop giving in to the adversity. Create bigger things. Study more. Teach more. Talk more. Share more. Give more. Love more. Be more. Believe more! It's a choice. Everything really is when you think about it. A choice to be more than you were yesterday. A choice to be your blessings, to praise God, to give thanks, to choose a life where one day you will sit with God and tell Him "I glorified you on Earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do." (John 17:4)

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you choose life. You choose to live it. You choose to do all things through God who is and always will be our salvation.

Daily BITUB- “It Makes Sense”

You want it all to make sense, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you just have this feeling like you are supposed to chase this dream, love that person, take the job, run the race, serve the people. Those are the unspoken blessings God is quietly placing at our feet while we are putting our worries, doubts, fears, stress, anxiety at His. Passion for living doesn't always come with a plan that we understand, but faith reassures us that God not only gets it, He knows where it is headed and where it's going to finish. The broken moments, the uncharted territory, the moving beyond your comfort zone is not something everyone will do. I can tell you, though, that's where great things happen and the wildest of dreams reside. That's where we begin to realize that it doesn't need to make sense, but it needs to happen. It's our chance to take that risk, to pass limitations that others put on us, to leap in faith. Not all things get to make sense, but when you really start to think about it and reflect on moments past, the things that pushed you, influenced you, molded you... Things in that moment you felt didn't make sense actually were the only things that did. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow yourself the opportunity to dream, to take chances, and to reach higher knowing that God is with you every step of the way. That no matter where you leap you understand having faith means God is already waiting for you exactly in that place you will land.

Daily BITUB- “Are you willing”

Are you willing? We ask others often. We look at people's efforts. We assess their commitment and their drive. Yet, we shy away from asking ourselves the same question. That look in the mirror and the self reflection isn't easy, but it is necessary if we are going to grow, to be better, to level up. Ask yourself... 

Are you willing? 

Are you willing to put in the work necessary to reach the goals you have set? Are you willing to dedicate yourself spiritually, mentally and physically to those expectations you set for yourself long ago? Are you willing to raise the bar? Are you willing to be honest with yourself and stop letting yourself off the hook? Are you willing to commit to a better you? Are you willing to challenge yourself to exceed limitations? Are you willing to leap in faith? Are you willing to say no when you should? Are you willing to give more than you take? Are you willing to ask for help? Are you willing to look adversity in the eye and stare it down? Are you willing to pursue your dreams even in those moments they feel out of reach? Are you willing to fight fiercely for what you believe and for all those that believe in you? Are you willing to let God in your life? Are you willing to listen to His calling for you? 

Are you willing?

That you have enough faith that you can ask yourself if you are willing to do the things you know you can and believe you should.

Daily BITUB- “Blessings and Answered Prayers”

"I was so busy complaining today I completely missed God answering all the prayers I had just yesterday." 

That was something I wrote over a year ago in my journal. I like to look back where I was a year ago and see my thoughts. It made me smile because I have done that same thing time and time again. I keep asking God to answer my prayers completely forgetting what was so important that I asked God for just yesterday that I tend to overlook as He answers them. In my thoughts here is what I actually wrote/posted last year that came out of those thoughts. 

We are surrounded by blessings. I write about it often. I speak to groups about realizing the amazing gifts God presents us with and the beauty in realizing those gifts as we progress through the journey. Today as I was sitting thinking about the weekend I thought about how we sometimes are surprised by those blessings in disguise. The ones that seem to pop up exactly at the moment we need them. The ones God puts in our path so that we may experience them to pick us up, lean on and carry us when we need it most. As my mind wandered more I found myself in awe of the blessings that are in my life now.  I thought about the ones that aren't disguised at all. The ones that every day are simply there. The ones we may have a tendency to overlook simply because they never cease to be blessings. It's easy to find the light in the big blessings in our life, but it's the smallest ones that reside in our minds, hearts and our souls every step of the way. The smallest ones that at our darkest are the brightest parts of who we are and the answers to prayers we made long ago. Today I simply wanted to give thanks for ALL the blessings God bestows upon us. Grateful and thankful for today and every day.

Over a year old, but couldn't have been more on point for me today as this weekend has been filled with blessings, filled with appreciation, filled with answered prayers. Ones I'm not going to overlook, God, just going to say thank you. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find the answered prayers in your day. That you don't overlook just how many are answered. Maybe not like you wanted, but exactly as God knows you needed.
