Daily BITUB- “You are equipped.”

When my daughter was born the nurse took her and I in a room as they were taking care of her mother. She did all sorts of things to clear my daughter's nose, eyes, mouth. I was thinking, why are you hurting my baby! She took measurements, and my daughter was screaming. Then she said, "here you go dad" and walked away. I was petrified. Filled with fear, but filled with love and a desire to overcome that fear and take care of this little girl in my arms. Funny how that works. Our instincts kick in and soon she stopped crying, and I couldn't stop. We are more equipped to handle life than we give ourselves credit sometimes. I used to fear the unknown. I mean, I wanted control and needed to plan. I've always believed that being afraid means it matters. You are afraid of failure to some extent, but maybe also afraid of success. Life is full of uncertainties. I used to hold back thinking I couldn't handle the disappointment of getting my hopes up for something only to be let down. As I got older I realized the real disappointment was not trying. Regret hurts more. We are equipped to handle it. Think about your first love and your first heartbreak. Your first job and the first time you decided you wanted to do something different. Think about the time you changed your major. Think about when you made a choice to stop drinking, smoking, or whatever bad habit you had. Think about your first time flying. Think about the first time you rode that roller coaster. Think about when you first climbed that tree. Think about the first time you fell out of it. All of those moments were firsts. Uncertainty. You didn't know what was going to happen, but you did it. You did it, you gained experience, you grew, you are better for it. The hardest moments, the most uncertain moments, the moments that make your pulse race and your heart beat faster, the moments you feared... You made it through it. You are here today. Doing nothing creates nothing. "You must do the thing you think you can not do." (Eleanor Roosevelt) That's how you overcome that fear and reach places you never imagined existed. You are better equipped than you think.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you realize that God is with you through all things. He is intentional and calls on us to trust Him. For in uncertain times know He is there. There as it starts, as it plays out, and when it is finished.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Focus on Service”

"Earn your success based on service to others, not at the expense of others." H. Jackson Brown Jr

Are you truly interested in helping others? Are you a servant leader or a self serving one? Are you focused on only your success? Those are hard questions to answer, but something to reflect on as you are having intentional interactions in your day. Why are you having them? What is your motivation? What are you motives? Do you tackle each situation with values intact and integrity at the forefront? Do you have this feeling that helping others might not help you? Do you think that if you spend the day focused on other's success you won't have any time for your own? I used to believe that if I kept my head down and did my work that is all that mattered. That was until I realized that when I needed help I had pushed all the people willing to help away. I did it by never being available to nurture, encourage, recognize as I was too self centered to care. It took me years to get it. To realize that helping others is a gift. That sharing knowledge, experiences, and helping others reach their potential can influence the outcome of people's lives. Including my own. I am certain if you think hard enough you will remember someone who helped you for no other reason than you needed it. No hidden agenda, no return the favor, no expectation. They just knew you needed it and so they did it. We are blessed with the gift of service. With an abundance of belief that there is good in all of us if we choose to notice it. That no matter if people only think of you when they need something then you embrace that. You simply do all you can to serve and to give more than you take every chance you get.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find opportunities to serve, and you give thanks or all those being of service to others and you.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Talk a little longer.”

I read an old saying, "Better one word in time than two afterward." How often do we want to say something, but we hold back. We miss the opportunity to impact the moment and then we often long to get it back. The moment isn't the same. The circumstances may have changed. I once asked my Gpa what he missed most about my Grandma. He said he would come home every day from work, she would be at the door and ask him how his day was. They would sit and have a cup of coffee and he would tell her all about it. He said he wished he could have one more time to tell her about his day face to face. That if he had known that was the last time he would have talked a little longer. We all have regrets about the "would of" and "could of" times we rushed off, ignored, blew off someone. Thing is you can't change that. You can't rewind it. What you can do is start saying what you feel. Start sharing your feelings, your dreams, your passions. Tell people what's on your mind and in your heart. It may just motivate them to do the same. It may be the words they have been praying for. It may be exactly what they needed to hear in that moment, and that is why God put you in their path. Life is busy. It's so fast paced. It has become a text, a post, a comment. It makes us overlook things. I know today that if I could get one more call with my Gpa I wouldn't let him off the phone so quickly. So, don't take for granted the opportunities to stay up a little later and share stories, to answer that phone call instead of text, to take the trips to see family, to experience things with those that matter most to you... To talk a little longer.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer today is that you pause enough to cherish your moments. That you give thanks for the relationships you have had, and take notice of the ones you still do. That when you are praying today that you don't be so quick to ask God for what you want. You talk a little longer and thank Him for giving you all the things you need.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Live The Life You Want”

You want it. You just aren't sure how it can work. You are aware of all the possibilities as much as you are unsure if it can happen at all. You keep talking yourself out of it. Keep making excuses. You tell yourself you couldn't possibly do anything you aren't sure of the outcome. Yet, deep down you know you can't let it go. You know you won't be satisfied unless you try. You have this feeling you want it and that you better go get it. You have to take risks. Life is full of them. You have to try things you never have if you want to reach places you've never been and feel things you never have. There is no perfect scenario. There is no perfect time. You make it time. You create the moment. We can't stay in this shell hoping that things will get better or that things won't get to us. Instead of holding ourselves back we have to let go and push ourselves. You have to branch out and experience. Invest in your dreams by putting in the time, the effort, the dedication necessary to achieve them. Make a promise to yourself and then own it. There isn't a "but, "what if", or a "maybe" in pursuing relentlessly those things that make us better, that bring us joy, fulfillment, excitement. You can be blessed and appreciate the opportunities all the time to do more, to be more, to give more, or you let them go by. Now is when you leap. When you have this feeling. You know it's right. Leap in faith, and trust that where you land will be that much closer to realizing just how beautiful living life can be.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow the moments in life to carry you to those places where you are able to experience the beauty of God's gift of life. Where you find your potential, your calling, your best self. Where you can be you.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Purposeful Passion”

I like to journal as it helps me get out thoughts in my head in a way I can better understand sometimes. Yesterday I
sat down to write and I ended up writing out a letter to myself about purpose, success, faith. Trying to figure out why I sometimes feel like I'm unsure of where I want to go or what I want to do. Those things circling in my head often manifest themselves with bad habits, anger, hurt. I have said often purpose drives passion. Though sometimes we must redefine our purpose to find that passion. In Romans, Paul said not to conform to the patterns of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. You have to really search for purpose sometimes. Reset and renew your priorities, your faith, your reason for existing. If you don't you may have successes and you may play the part on the outside, but on the inside you'll continue to feel empty. You'll never be satisfied, because you are chasing things you don't really want to chase. You stop seeing what is right in front of you. What you have instead of letting what you don't cloud your judgement, your view... your purpose. I learned that it is never too late to pursue a dream, change yourself, get your heart right. Never too late to create a world around you driven by your reason for loving, for living, for being. Never too late to find your purpose and let your passion for it fill those empty spots and help take you where you want to go. As Mark Twain once wrote, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why."

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find your reason. Your reason for doing all the things you do. The reason to fill your heart. The reason God put you here.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “God’s Presence”

Things change. People change. We change. God, not so much. It's not easily discoverable because when you come back to God you have changed, but He is the same as He was when you left. I would tell myself that I couldn't face God after not going to church for so long. Couldn't face Him for the times I was angry and blamed Him for things happening in my life. Then you realize His unconditional love was there before all that. It was there and He already knew what I was going to do and He still loved me. He already knew I would come back, and it took me a long time to understand He was going to be ready when I was. There waiting. Truth of the matter is as I look back on events in my life I questioned He was there too. With a friend to support me. With a family who comforted me. Removing obstacles, danger, hurt I would never know because He took it before I could. Yet the things I had to experience were His way of making me understand His presence. Making me see that we must face things to be better equipped for what is to come, to help others, to appreciate our lives all the time. Faith tells us to believe even when it impossible to believe. Yet we know that through faith we will not face anything that God doesn't believe we can handle. He knows where we have been and He was there. He knows where we are and He is here. He knows where we headed and He is there. "For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His." (2 Chronicles 16:9)

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow yourself to feel God at work in your life. If you are struggling, afraid, or lost turn to Him. If you are happy then give thanks to Him. Let him know that in all things you know He is at work.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Moments with Purpose”

I believe everything has a purpose. The joy we feel. The pain we endure. The healing. The forgiving. The twists and turns of life. All of it matters in as much as we allow it to matter. We often latch on to those big life changing events. We remember them as defining moments on our journey. The events that changed our trajectory, propelled us forward, stopped us in our tracks. What we often miss though is the small moments that gradually turn us towards something we didn't expect. Those moments that give us clarity, build our character, reinforce our values. Subtle blessings, lessons, experiences. A word of encouragement from a teacher, a coach, a pastor, a friend that gives us the confidence to pursue a dream. A smile that puts us at ease before we take on something we haven't before. A look from across the room to our child that instantly reminds them we are with them. A simple acknowledgment that we did a good job that pushes us to do better. A text to a friend that lets them know we are thinking of them. An "I love you" to our spouse and kids as we walk out the door to remind them why we do what we do. Yes, life has plenty of big defining moments, but it is also filled with every day moments that we get to define. Our moments.

Moments with a purpose.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find the blessings that are guiding you and the faith that through God all is possible.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Authenticity”

"We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."- Marianne Williamson

I'm always trying to find areas to improve. Looking to unlock potential that maybe I don't know I have or know exactly how to reach yet. Trying to learn new things, new ways to approach problems, new thoughts on my journey. It wasn't always that way. I had to stop trying to please everyone first. Had to stop trying to be liked by everyone, because I really didn't know who I was or what I cared about. Serving others doesn't mean you give them everything they want. That doesn't work, and you end up hurting them and yourself in the process. You have to be real with yourself about what matters if you intend to really lead with a servant heart all the time. As I work on an upcoming speaking engagement my mind continues to bring me back to the word authenticity. That takes me down a rabbit hole of reflection of all the times I wasn't authentic and it always caught up with me. I often tell people you will end up in a place one day where you will get exposure for all the things you know, you do, you are, or you will get exposed for all the things you pretended to be. As I grow older I find myself drawn to the real relationships in my life. The people willing to be real, willing to listen, speak out, build confidence, create and give trust. There are so many distractions around us. From the lure of new technology, to the next big diet, to the next news story that divides us we are bombarded with things that bring us nothing but another way to avoid being who we are capable of being. If we are pleasers then we aren't truly allowing others the opportunity to know who we really are, what we think and feel. We are forcing ourselves to be liked and as our relationships mature, and we do too, there is no foundation for disagreement, conflict, discussion, and no room for growth. It's ok to be liked, but not to the point you lose yourself. Not to the point you sacrifice self respect and the respect of others. You simply can't ever trade your authenticity for someone's approval. Be you... And allow others to be who they need to be.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you embrace your authentic self. Your gifts, talents, your unique attributes are who you are. Let your light shine and don't ever feel like you can't.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Pay Attention”

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:12-13

Are you paying attention to who is around you? There will always be people willing to tell you what you want to hear. They will agree with you, let you move down wrong paths, and maybe even celebrate things that shouldn't be celebrated. Pay attention. Those people you push away for giving you tough love, telling you what you don't want to hear, questioning your judgment are the ones you really want in your life. True and honest relationships allow intimacy at levels that reveal a vulnerability that is necessary for  growth. It isn't easy to hear your areas of opportunity, but if we truly care for each other than we must help each other see what we don't want to see. I've learned over the years that I let real relationships go because I was angry at things I was told about myself. I didn't want to hear that. I didn't want to accept that I had issues, made bad choices, drank too much, had anger issues, was closed off. I mean who wants to hear that? We only want to hear the good. That is until the real outweighs the pretend and we have to deal with reality. A reality that proves to be too much for those that really weren't our friends. Left standing with us are those who have been wanting to help us all along. The ones who have pushed on with us, carried us, cried with and for us, prayed for us, and refused to stand quietly by when we needed them to speak up. Our blessings. So, who is around you today? Who are you letting influence you? Who really matters, and why do they?

Pay attention.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you give thanks for the ones who love you enough to risk losing you by telling you the things you don't want to hear, but need to hear. They are blessings.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Be The Positive”

"There is no shortage of doubt, it is the abundance of belief that often gets overlooked." -DC

I used to wonder why people were so negative. Why they insisted in bringing others down. I would notice them come into a room, log on a call, throw emotional hand grenades and then walk away. It would bother me. It would derail my day and change my mood. As I said, use to. Then I realized that their power only exists when we give it to them. When we acknowledge it we cease to allow ourselves to focus on the things that matter. The good that can be done. The positive influence we can be. The blessings in the smallest things. The realization that allowing our light to shine can drown out the shadows if we want it to. Take a look around you. There is more good than bad. You just have to look past those things clouding your thoughts. When you do you realize there are solutions to your problems. There are ways to overcome the adversity. There is prayer. There is faith. There is inspiration and motivation happening all around you right now. People reaching beyond themselves to realize potential they didn't even know they had. People stepping up to volunteer. People giving more than they have to give. People paying attention to others in need. People listening to voices they never heard before that need help, need understanding, need to simply be heard. We become what we pay attention to. We give strength to the negative and can become the negative when we pay attention to it. So don't. Don't focus on the negative around you, be blessed by the positive that resonates beyond you.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you don't allow the negative to overpower you. Be the positive influence you and others need in this time. Be grateful for the good and celebrate that.

Have a blessed, safe and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Priorities”

Yesterday was extremely busy. Meeting after meeting. Task after task. There was so much to be done and a couple of times I had to just stop, take a breath, gather myself and refocus. I had a talk with someone who asked me if I was stressed out. Honestly, I said, not at all. I'm actually ok with the busy, ok with the responsibilities, ok with my obligations. There was a clear priority list that I followed. It took me through the day and inevitably some things got pushed to tomorrow. It happens. Some things I hadn't planned on presented themselves, and while it changed my plan, it didn't change the plan. Which is always understanding what can't get pushed to tomorrow. The conversations I needed to have. The intentional interactions I wanted to have. The few minutes here and there to clarify, to encourage, to support, to get help I needed. Those few minutes, and we often overlook them, can and should be rejuvenating. They remind us that we are all capable of serving and leading with a servant heart. It doesn't take much. There are those that need our time and that's all they want. There are those that simply want to know we are ok. Those that a text, a five minute call, a smile from across a room makes their day that much better. Even those tough love conversations that must happen. If we care then we hold ourselves and others accountable and we have them. We grow together. We pray together. We become better as people. Then no matter how busy our day gets we know that we made the day matter by simply letting others know they do.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you make the people in your life priority. Let them know they matter. Let them know you are there for them, and as I often say, keep your "I love you's" up to date.

Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Put in the Work”

"I will prepare and one day my chance will come." Abraham Lincoln

You long for a world where you are your best self? A place you want to be in. Well that's a place where you must realize that we are all a work in progress. We should always be. We have to put in the work though. Thing is some are actively working on being better and others are not. Some deny they need to work on themselves. Some are afraid to. Where are you? What's your limitation? What's your boundary? What's holding you back?  Fear? Doubt? Complacency? All of it? Nobody can tell you why you hold back. Nobody can tell you why you won't take the hard road. Nobody can tell you to work on you. Nobody can convince you to stretch yourself. It's on you. It's up to you to see it. It always has been. It's realizing that we all have our obstacles. Some see it as opportunity to push while others see it as something that can't be overcome. They see it as a dead end and as an excuse to resist what can be. What side of the coin are you? The naysayer? The person content to live in that comfort zone? The one refusing to see things need to be done? It's appealing isn't  it? To not try harder? Why put yourself out there? Maybe you can't see that you are capable of more than you are doing. Maybe you don't want to because that's more effort than you wanted to put in. We all want to be our best selves. We all want to give more than we take. We all want to reach our potential. The place where we know we can be and a place we simply have to believe in ourselves enough to realize that we are all capable of being there... And then put in the work.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you fight for what you believe in and for all those that believe in you.

Have a blessed, healthy and safe week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Be That Person”

In a world where we can be anything, do anything, become anything we must do all we can to do it not at the expense of others, but with others in mind. There is so much going on around us and a lot of it we don't, and can't, control. What we do control is who we are and the things we do. The way we treat others, the way we respond to others, the way we act and react matters. We matter, and to some we are their whole world and to others we are simply blessed to be a part of their journey. In all things though, as we create real, lasting, true, honest relationships we must be authentic. Be who we say we are. Do the things we say we do. Be blessed and be that person we want others to see.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU!

Thank you Creations from the Heart / Christie Mayer Black for another amazing design. Every design you do that brings my words to life is simply inspirational. I appreciate you my friend!
