Daily BITUB- "Take a Look"

We can quickly look at ourselves and see all the things we don't like.  Our body, our smile, how we talk, what we are wearing, what we eat, how we procrastinate, how we are short tempered...  The list goes on and on.  There may be many things we want to change, but that's not going to happen if we continue to overlook the blessings we don't!  One of the hardest things sometimes for people to do is look at themselves and see the beauty they possess...  Those unique and beautiful gifts God has given them.  Instead they get wrapped up in opinions, negativity and thoughts of others, and they start missing the good that exists in and around them.  I see it every day.  We can offer advice, thoughts and encouragement, but it will ultimately be their decision to move forward from that place that holds them back.  We have all been there, and everyone has their way of moving beyond it.  I can tell you that of all the things that people do to help, as I know it helped me, is pray for one another.  Pray for strength to accept that help.  Pray for the faith needed to empower ourselves to believe in that help.  Pray for hope to illuminate the pathway that negativity makes dark so that we may see that help. Pray for the ability to be truthful to who we are and where we want to be... And pray that we all realize just how many blessings we hold each and everyday. 

So today on this final day of the year...  I pray that God's blessings are abundant in your life.  That you see and are able to appreciate those blessings.  That you look at everything you are and the beauty of everything you can and will be today, tomorrow and into 2015!

Daily BITUB- "Start Somewhere"

Each year we think about what we could have done, what we have done and then we think about the things we want to do!  So many dreams and so many goals!  Even just in our daily routine we give ourselves expectations to meet. From the smallest...  No coffee today, going to workout a little longer, one more mile. To the biggest...  I'm going to finish this project, I'm going to go after that promotion, I'm going to make a difference just by being positive.  Remember our biggest blessings started somewhere!  Maybe today it's just in a thought, a random feeling, a new focus. You woke up and there it was... Part of you and necessary for you to be complete! Necessary for you to be you!  Necessary for you to feel alive, accomplished, satisfied!  It matters to you and if it matters to you then chances are it matters to those that love you!  Chances are they know you need to reach that goal! They know you will push, fight and commit! They know you can!  You know you can, and God has already put the blessings there along the way so that you will!

We often imagine how life should be... You know the one of our dreams.  That one we wonder if we will ever reach. The one we wonder even if we can.  It's that place we stare into space midday and think of.  It's our happy escape.  It's where we are the exact person we know we should be.  It's where everyone that matters to us exists.  As I started to reflect on that and talk about it with someone... I thought, wow...  How often we forget our current place.  How often we go through life seeing another life as better.  We are hard on ourselves and place limitations on our potential.  We challenge our strength and question our ability to reach those destinations and to live those dreams.  We allow setbacks to create roadblocks and we give ourselves a way out of trying.  Yes... We all do at some point reach that place where it's easier to doubt then to try.  That is of course until we slow down, take a breath, look around us and realize that we are often standing right in the middle of a dream we had long ago.  When we thought it that dream was impossible, but yet here we are... Living it.

Daily BITUB- "Take it in!"

You have to allow yourself to take it all in.  Give yourself a chance to feel the moments as they happen. Your instincts often kick in and your heart begins to lead you in the direction it knows you should be traveling.  Will it be easy? Will it even make any sense sometimes?  Chances are the answer to both those questions  are no... Yet faith says carry on!  Focus on what feels right... Dedicate yourself to what you need to be you... Commit to it and free yourself from the limitations that often bound us in a state of uncertainty.  When we truly allow ourselves to be all we can be those limitations give way to our true selves.  There we find our strongest emotions, our honest feelings, our path... And as we open ourselves up to God and His love then we get to the point where the is no uncertainty and we can begin the journey to get to exactly where we are supposed to be.

If you see something great then acknowledge it!  If you see someone exceed expectations praise them!  If you know someone has a personal goal and reaches it take notice!  If you know someone needs your smile, hug, friendship... Then be honored to give it.  If you get the chance to encourage, do it!  If you get the opportunity to help someone reach beyond their limitations then cherish it! If you know someone needs the light at the end of the tunnel then be that light in their tunnel!  If you know someone simply needs to feel the power of faith... Lend them yours! If you know that someone needs your prayers then slow down long enough to pray for them and with them!  If you know someone is having trouble seeing their blessings then let them know just how much of a blessing they are to you!  If you know someone that loves you... Then let them know what it means to you... And then love them back!  If you know someone that is lost... Assure them that God knows exactly where they are!  If you know someone is unbelievable... Then tell them just how much you believe in their beauty and just how much they should Believe in the Unbelievable within!

You can't win them all...  But you can provide yourself the opportunity to try.  Set that expectation high and then focus on your ability to raise it.  What's holding you back?  You know exactly what it is and because you do you know exactly what it will take to overcome.  Stop blaming others.  Stop saying it's because you don't have this or that.  Stop looking for excuses to let yourself off the hook.  You are much better then that!  Focus on what matters!  Focus on who matters!   Remember it's not about the people and things you must live with it's about the beautiful blessings you live for!  Your family, friends... All those blessings God has given you!  You can't win them all, but remember that sometimes the ability to fight, to experience, to learn, to grow, to push the limits, to have another opportunity to be more than yesterday...  That is the real victory!

Daily BITUB- "Mom and Pop"

Are you presenting yourself in the light you want?  Are you being you?  Are you being the "YOU" that you know you can be?

 

Not just some of the time, but all of the time! 

 

Every moment we have the power of influence.  I think about my kids and how they watch, repeat and emulate the things we do.  Are we examples?  Are we role models?  The values my parents gave to me are gifts, but they came with a catch… They were always meant to be shared.  To give, to teach, to continue to learn as we grow.  I find myself often reflecting on a lesson that my parents taught me years ago, and realizing what that lesson meant then means so much more today as I teach it to my children.  I understand the times they let us learn the hard way, and how that hard way created a path that made it easier to face the things that would come much later in life.  They taught me what it meant to allow others to see your faith and to show how that faith gives us the ability to be our blessings and to share those blessings with as many people as we meet throughout our journey.   

Mom and Pop...   No matter where we go or what we do we will forever give thanks to God for you.  All the lessons, all the comfort, the protection, the honesty, the unconditional love for your children and the example of what it means to love someone... For richer for poorer, in sickness and in health...  You are today still teaching and it those lessons that help all your kids continue to dream, to live and believe in who we are and all the possibilities of who we can be.

Let's face it we are going to make mistakes.  We are called upon to make choices every single day and inevitably we are going to make decisions that teach us a lesson.  Some will be harder than others to face.  Yet that is the key... We must face them!  To identify with the lesson you must first accept that there is one by admitting you made a misstep in the first place.  When we reflect on some of our biggest decisions our tendency is to reflect soley on the ones that may have caused heartache, pain, confusion.  The ones that may have hurt others and created doubt we tend to overlook.  As we reflect we must see it all!  We must see that everything has a moment that helps create who we are.  Living life provides the beauty of not one, but many defining moments that give us direction.  They test our faith only to make it stronger.  They give us hope so that we will continue to move closer to our dreams and closer to God who provides them.  The biggest mistake we can make is not admitting we made one...  For it is in honesty, awareness and ownership that we may move forward with the experience to simply do our best to be better than we were yesterday.

Daily BITUB- "Taking Notice"

It's easy to notice the negative.  Someone once told me that they were going to sit and write down all the negative things people do and say to them.  Why would you do that? What purpose does that serve?  Hasn't the negative already taken enough of your time?  Why not take that energy and write down all the positive, all the good, all the blessings that surround you?  Think about this moment.  Think about your family, friends and all the beauty that exists and can exist as you go through the day!  Think about your ability to be uplifting, to brighten someone's day to give light to the dark!  The positive so often is overlooked.  When things are at their best we forget to pause and give thanks to God for it.  We forget how it makes us feel.  We forget the momentum of the moment and the strength of remembering to draw from it when those negative thoughts creep into our lives.  Yes, it's easy to notice the negative, but if we all looked around us chances are we would instead notice the abundance of positive and quickly be reminded just how blessed we truly are.

The gifts we are given are unique and while certain things will come easy there are other things we must work for.  Those things, however, are often the most rewarding.  When you are backed up against that wall, when you are faced with the choice to back down or to fight, when you know you are at wits end, when you know the next step is uncharted territory... That is when you realize how much those blessings from God truly are influential in your life!  That's when you begin to appreciate the journey and your past experiences.  That's when you realize that "no", "I can't", "it's too hard" simply won't do!  That's when your commitment and instincts take over and create the passion that draws strength from your individual talents and blessings and you go beyond even your expectations.  The harder it gets... It's glaring sometimes... So obvious.  So easy to see the issue or the problem right?  Though it's that glare that can blind us from seeing the entire situation sometimes.  It can cause us to jump to conclusions, cause us to overreact, cause us to make it worse than it originally was.  We will never be able to "get it right" all the time, but that is exactly what helps us to evolve and become better.  It is experience of the moment that creates the beauty in believing for the next time... And there will be a next time!  So, pause for a moment in the situations where you are unsure.  Assess the moment, ask questions, be open to feelings, be honest with yourself, admit mistakes, stand your ground when you should and always pray!  Pray for guidance , for focus, for clarity.  Pray to God in thanks for your blessings and for your ability to leap in faith.  For it's your faith in others that provides the building blocks of hope.

Strength? Sometimes I think we misinterpret exactly what that really means.  It isn't so much being able to take on a situation by ourselves... But rather realizing that we can't take it on without the blessings that God provides us to handle those challenging moments.  Those moments where our faith is tested, where doubt is overpowering and we question our ability to continue.  Those moments where the real strength is accepting the people in our life there to give us guidance, to share the experience and to give us comfort in those situations we are weak.  Faith is powerful... Such that it can be shared while someone is in search of their own.  Faith that our real strength is learning the lesson, giving more than we take, appreciating what we have instead of focusing on what we don't, and giving thanks to God for allowing us this day, the mountains along the way and all the opportunities we will have to be strong in it.

Where to now?

You should never be afraid to open doors.  Beyond those doors is possibility. The chance of something new, the promise of experience, the hope that you can achieve more! The true possibility of tomorrow is realizing it today!  Where are you, where do you want to go and where are you actually headed?  You already know!  Follow the path!  Deep in you is the will... Let your faith be the way.  Don't deny yourself a chance by feeling you don't deserve it. The battles you have fought, the lessons you have learned, all the things you have experienced- both good and bad- have given you this chance!  It's up to you to take hold of the possibilities and create the moment!  Be honest with yourself about what you need and your heart will create the desire necessary to achieve it!  Focus on priority. Focus on the things that make you better! 

Where to now?  

Wherever you are willing to go!  Stay constant to who you are, have faith in what you want to become, trust in God,  and the path you are looking for you will often find right beneath your feet.

Daily BITUB- "If"

If it were easy then maybe it wouldn't matter as much.  If it didn't hurt then maybe it wouldn't mean so much.  If you didn't fight then maybe it wasn't something you needed. If you didn't take the time to understand it then maybe you didn't really want it. If you didn't give your all maybe it was meant to be given elsewhere. Every situation and every instance demands we respond... That we face the consequences of our decisions-good and bad. Every opportunity we are presented with can be appreciated simply by acknowledging the potential in that opportunity to make a lasting impression on it and the people with in it. We decide the moments we want to make matter and just how much.  We will put emphasis on the things we know we should.  If you are questioning that dream, finding it hard to reach that goal, looking for the answers...  Take a moment and assess where you are.  Is it YOUR dream, YOUR goal, YOUR questions you are attempting to answer?  If your heart isn't in it then no matter what you do you won't be either!  Remember, let your heart set the path, faith be your guide and God be your companion...  Staying true to that you will find yourself on the exact path God intended you to travel.

What dream are you chasing?  

Did it get  you up this morning?  Does it fire you up throughout the day?  Does it make you think of ways to get closer to living it?  Does it inspire a new thought, a creative way of thinking or a better you?  Does it motivate you to push yourself, to drive for that next level, to realize your potential and to raise the bar that you just raised yesterday?  Does it give you a sense of pride as it  challenges you to do more than you ever thought possible?  Does it bring out the best of you?  Does it cultivate new talents and nourish your present ones?  Does it bring you joy, make you smile and give you that feeling of satisfaction as you progress toward making it reality?  

Does it align with your values? Are you bringing those that supported you, inspired you and believed in you along with it?  

Sometimes we forget those things don't we?  

Are you bringing your faith with you?  Have you talked to God about it?  I assure you He's an amazing companion for whatever dream you are after...  And for all the ones you are living right now.  As we are after those dreams let us not forget why we have the opportunity to dream them in the first place.

Daily BITUB- "Faith"

God gets it. He understands exactly where you are.  He knows what you feel, what your thinking and what tomorrow will bring.  He knows you have doubts, fears and anxiety.  He knows you are questioning this place, this time and looking for clarity.  Thing it's not enough for Him to know...  We have to believe.  We have to believe when it's beyond reason to believe.  It's up to us to trust in the path no matter how hard it gets.  What do you think faith is all about?  It isn't something you get to have sometimes.  It's a blessing...  Ever evolving, growing and becoming stronger with each day.  You have it all the time.  Especially in those moments you think you don't.  Maybe you don't feel it, but faith finds its way into your life.  It can be subtle, but it's there.  You just have to pay attention to the good in your life.  It's there... Maybe in a quote you see, a picture that reminds you of a special time, the laughter of children reminding you of the importance of the journey, a scripture, a lesson, a quiet reflection... In the beauty of having those special people in your life that today can lend you their faith while you find yours.  Yes... It's there.  

God gets it...   He understands exactly where we are, which faith tells us is exactly where we should be.

Daily BITUB- "Regroup"

It will happen.  You will get tired, worn down and think about turning back.  You will think about stopping.  You might think it's easier, but deep down you know it's not.  You know what matters!  You know you can climb higher!  You know you can do this!  

Regroup and ask yourself... 

What's the motivation?  What is inspiring you?  What drives you to get up, to push on and to fight?  Where does that passion come from?  What gives you that feeling of wanting more?  Who are you living for? Are you a fan of you? Do you tell yourself the truth about what you want and what you need?  Do you pray and give thanks for today and the opportunities in it?  Do you find the light in the dark?  Do you allow your light to shine?  Are you a positive influence in the lives of others?  Are you a positive one in yours?  Do you profess your faith from the rooftops?  Are you willing to be you and all the beautiful blessings that come with you?  Are you willing to stand strong on that foundation of faith?    

Remember God is right there with you.  He is there in the blessings of those that support you, care for you, fight with you!  

It will happen you will get tired.  Take a deep breath, you've come a long way... Let's finish this!
