Have you ever been caught up in extreme situations?  Over the years I have found myself in places that created extreme emotions.  It was overwhelming to go from one state of mind to an entirely different one in a matter of minutes, but it happens.  It is draining even for the most spiritual and faithful of minds.  I felt like it was my fight for years to understand it.  It took the realization that slowing down and reflecting on the situation helped to control the emotions wrapped up in those extremes, and then clarity followed.  That clarity was finding comfort in prayer.  Asking God for balance... To be firm yet empathetic.  To be patient, but not complacent.  To not want too much, but not expect too little.  To give me the perspective needed to see what exactly that balance in those situations we all face should be.  It's an understanding that God can answer prayers in many ways, but He can't do it without our faith, our strength and our ability to embrace the way He answers them. It is simply the balance of what we expect VS what He knows we need.

Daily BITUB- "Merry Christmas"

Today will be filled with children's smiles, laughter and probably a few tears.  We will rip through gifts and stand in piles of paper. We will eat and drink and celebrate.  We will play games and tell stories... We will miss those who have gone or not able to visit, but we will honor them by loving them all the more today in our smiles and remembrance of them. Yes we will do many things that will remind us of the beauty in life. We get so busy throughout it all sometimes we miss it though.  We miss what it is and what it all can be. So, take a moment to soak it all up. Take a step back and just bask in it. Take a moment to pray for those that don't have it. Take a moment to appreciate it more by hugging tighter, laughing louder, playing longer.  Take a moment to give praise to God and to thank Him for these beautiful blessings. Take a moment to say "Happy Birthday" to Jesus for it is His birth that gives us this day.  Take a moment to know that today is as beautiful as you want to make it, and appreciate the opportunity to make it a lasting memory.

Get motivated!  

Everyone has a goal.  Everyone has a dream.  Even though some may not be as clear as others it's there.  Maybe it's to lose weight, finish school, get married, have children, get promoted, move, travel...  Maybe it's all of those.  Expecting the answers from anywhere but within may find you searching more than executing. Awareness of what you are striving for demands an on going commitment to yourself, and that motivation isn't derived from watching others. They may spark the inspiration, but the motivation needed to excel and push is derived and sustained by you! Today don't think of the end goal.  Focus on the daily accountability necessary to achieve it. Get your mind around the tasks in front of you.  Stop talking about it, don't complain about why or what and start doing!  The answer to self satisfaction and personal achievement doesn't lie just at the end. It is at the start!  It is throughout!  It is in remembering the joy of achieving and the beauty and blessing of everything it takes to achieve... And that is motivation in itself!

There is always an afterthought... Always an aftermath.  Every decision will carry with it an emotion, feeling and thoughts of "what if" and "why".  All of which can bring different perspectives from every person it touches.  So what do we make of it?  What do we do when it creates feelings we don't like? How about when it doesn't? There are those times we must take a step back. Look at all of it. Take from it what we can and use that experience to make us stronger, more sound and allow it to provide clarity to situations that weren't so clear just moments before.  Sometimes it's the indecisiveness and the uncertainty that drives us.  Sometimes it's the inability to make a choice that hurts the most.  Don't fear what is coming!  You are equipped with the certainty of faith, with the knowledge of what has been and the power of God's love! You can't change what decisions and choices have been made, but you can influence the ones yet to come! That is and should always be the afterthought.  As for the aftermath...  Be blessed in your ability to have more choices to make.

The moment it matters enough to you to push yourself beyond limitations to achieve it.  The moment you deem it important enough to commit yourself to preparation. The moment you dedicate yourself to overcoming the obstacles, the excuses and the doubt from you and others.  It's the moment you realize anything is attainable and everything is achievable. Within you lies the passion-It simply needs to be defined and refined to coincide with the priorities in your life. As you evolve so must your values and your focus. The next progression of you will take the willingness to go beyond you, and it's there the visions are the missions and the dreams are no longer just statements, but testimonials to who and why you are!  Remember you can and you will, and the faith to do it is already there!  So let's go!

Daily BITUB- "Mistakes matter!"

It's inevitable we all make mistakes. That doesn't mean we throw in the towel!  No instead we must get a hold of our place and push forward.  We must remember our life lessons and draw from experiences past.  All of us at one point have been taught right from wrong, but it is equally important to understand how to right our wrongs. The tendency may be to turn our back, to pretend it will fix itself or even ignore it.  Reality is it will still be there. However, sharing, expressing emotions, or even just listening can influence the outcome. Learning from mistakes is appreciating the blessing in being able to try again.  Realizing the power and importance of what we do and how we do it can be the difference between a good experience and a great one.  Sometimes it's as simple as reminding ourselves of what we are capable of doing.  Sometimes it's that pep talk we give ourselves through prayer and faith.  So listen and take notice in those moments!  Remember actions may speak louder than words, but it's often words that initiate those actions! So get up, get going, push, pull, exceed, excel, overcome!  Make every mistake matter and never forget just how much you do too!

Daily BITUB- "Thanksgiving"

"Being thankful isn't an obligation.  It's s beautiful privilege."- DC 2012

Often times it's easy to be thankful for the big things in our life, and days like Thanksgiving we come together to acknowledge them all.  What we mustn't forget are the little things that often can be overlooked.  The daily gifts we are blessed with in our lives are abundant, and just taking a moment to realize them each and everyday is appreciating they are there.  Take a breath each day and notice the beauty in that breath.  In the smiles of family and friends, the comfort of their love and the blessing of loving them back.  Take a moment to realize that God is great and living His gift of life is giving thanks to Him for it.  

Happy Thanksgiving and I am thankful to all of you for allowing me to share my thoughts daily and for the inspiration many of you are to me.

Daily BITUB- "Prayers"

What if you are praying for the exact opposite of someone else?  Yes... What if?  The beautiful thing about faith and having it is understanding the outcome is God's will.  It is His way.  It's realizing that prayers aren't answered by a specific order of who asked first.  No they are answered in the way He sees fit.  I know it isn't always easy to see it in that moment.  Sometimes we even challenge God asking Him why this way, why this path... How is this what we prayed for?  Then when we least expect it He shows us. He provides us the prayers we truly needed.  He offers us the opportunity to grow, to strengthen ourselves and to build upon our foundation of faith.  Opportunities surround us each and everyday. So continue to pray.  Pray for what you want and give thanks that no matter how long, no matter where, no matter when... He will give you exactly what you need.

Daily BITUB- "The Wall"

Why build the wall?  

To keep people out?  To keep you in?  Maybe you are thinking that you are challenging others to break it down, climb over it and find a way to get to you.  Maybe you are challenging yourself to find a way out. The walls we build can have many explanations.  Sometimes we may not even remember why we put it up, and that fear of taking it down can be overwhelming.  We've all been in that place.  We've all been pushed and pulled...  So we tell ourselves there isn't a chance we will allow that again.  Thing is it's difficult to allow ourselves to be exposed like that, and honestly no one can decide that for us.  It is a choice.  It is a choice made with much prayer, thought, support and reflection.  It is a choice about what we really want and one that finds us focusing on what we truly need.  I can't offer any words that will take down the walls around you.  Only offer that I've lived behind them.  I've felt alone and thought "why me".  That is until I began to realize that my prayers weren't falling by the wayside.  In fact God was right there with me behind the wall.  He was there offering His hand to help pull me over, was there showing me ways around it.  That was ONLY when I was ready for Him!  That doesn't happen until we are willing to be ready, and the blessing is in God's understanding that being ready simply won't happen until we are.  When it comes He will be right there where He always is... Ready to take the first step in faith beyond those walls with us.
