Daily BITUB- "Expectations"

Lower the expectation?  Why would you do that?  Why would you settle for anything less than what you know someone is capable of?  More importantly why would you settle for anything less than you are capable of?  How often do we let ourselves off the hook?  After all it's easier than the challenge isn't it?  It's easier than being let down... Or is it?  Is there satisfaction in walking away because we think something can't reach the level we hold it up to?  Is it even a close comparison to witnessing someone reach beyond their limitations?  How about when you do?  Honestly what about the times you already have!  Remember that feeling!  Think about that moment you set the bar and then surpassed it!  I know there have been times when you gave it your all and it still wasn't enough.  I've been there, but remember sometimes the victory is in the fight, in the experience, in the opportunity to grow!  Those experiences are ones only you can allow yourself to have.  

Lower your expectation?  I say raise it, chase it and dream bigger than you ever have!  When you begin to climb after those expectations...  Remember that moment because it is the moment you began to surpass the place you are standing in now.

Daily BITUB- "Should it matter?"

Why do you let the smallest things derail you?  Why do you let the negative person influence your mood? Why do you let a bump in the road cause you to alter your path?  There are going to be things throughout the day that you come in contact with... You can't hide from them, and try as you might you can't avoid them either.  Should it matter though?  Think about that question...  Should it matter?  Honestly it shouldn't because deep down you know you are stronger than the bumps, the twists and turns, the run-ins with negativity.  Stop trying to run around and away from those moments... They catch up to you!  Instead slow down!  Let them surround you.  Then look around at what you may be missing.  Isn't it easy to focus on the bad? We forget who possesses the power to think the good into any situation. We forget who has time and time again persevered through the boundaries others have attempted to create for us!  We forget that our faith has and can carry us through the most trialling moments.  Yes... Some days are riddled with diversions, but remember while that may be our days are always filled with blessings!  Blessings, that if we allow them to will keep us firmly on the path even when we can't see it.

Daily BITUB- "Rock Bottom"

"I've hit rock bottom and I don't know where else to go!"  

That was the title of one of the emails I received recently.  As I read on I could visualize where they were because honestly I've been there.  

Confused, angry, disappointed and determined to give up for fear there really was nowhere to go and no one to turn to.  It's hard to understand in the moment, and questioning why often is the only thing we feel we can do.  Everyone goes through adversity... Trials are part of life and being grounded isn't by accident.  Faith is the answer.  Trusting God's plan even when we want to run away and hide.  Trusting that God can see when life is spiraling out of control so He puts us exactly where we need to be... The bottom-where that spiral stops!  It's there we can take a breath and start to get our footing!  After all that bottom is our foundation.  A place where we find the things we may have forgotten...  Our roots, values and priorities that drive us.  It's the place where we begin to see what and who our "rocks" are, and reminds us why we chose the foundations we did.  It's where you find out exactly where to go... Because there's nowhere to go but up.  There's nowhere to turn, but to God, to prayer and to the blessings He places in life.  Remember even in our darkest moments there are blessings.  Blessings that no matter where we are will be there to help us build up from the foundation of faith we were standing on before and are blessed to be standing on again.

Remember why you do it and you'll never run out of the passion needed when the obstacles attempt to block your path!  Think about who matters most.  The ones who count on you...  Husband, wife, family, children, co-workers...  The ones who look to you to stand up when others sit down.  The ones who look to you for motivation, for guidance, for inspiration as you pursue your dreams relentlessly! You can't expect anything!  That's not how it works!  You want something to be better, then be willing to make it better.  You want change, then influence that change.  You want someone to take notice of  your talents, skills... Then introduce yourself, stand out and make a difference.  You want others to treat you a certain way, then make sure you are reciprocating that back to them.  You want to be surrounded by positive, then let it to start with you and resonate to others.  You want others to be passionate about their dreams, then let them witness you living yours.  You want to live each moment, then be in the moment.  

Everything you do matters.  You are the catalyst to all the things in your life.  The moments you make memories, the people you touch and the ones who touch you, the motivation you thrive on, the inspiration you look to!  You bring to life all the beautiful blessings God places in your life.

Daily BITUB- "Live, Laugh, Love"

Yesterday I was standing in the middle of a group of people who were trying to trump one another on how miserable their life was.  I couldn't walk away without asking them if they could think of one thing in their life that made them happy.  One thing they could smile about.  I told them that one of my favorite sayings is "live, laugh, love".  Then I asked them if they have laughed in awhile.  They looked at me curiously and I told them I was serious.  Have you laughed today?  I mean really laughed and let yourself go.  Think about those moments you lost yourself in laughter, in joy, in happiness.  I think about my down times...  Those days that beat me up and how hearing the laughter of my kids immediately picked me up!  How allowing myself to share in their moment quickly removed that feeling of stress or frustration and replaced it with the reminder of how blessed we can be when we let ourselves be a part of those blessings.  While we all have things that aren't the best, that frustrate, that disappoint...  Chances are there are blessings that simply allow us to take the breath we need and see that as bad as it may be God always places something good in our lives.  Something that reminds us just how blessed we are to live, laugh and love!

Daily BITUB- "Say your prayers!"

When people close to you hurt your natural instinct is to help, comfort and do what you can to take away that pain.  There are times though we are at a loss of what to do.  Even other times we are pushed away.  Thing is you can't make it go away.  That's something only they can do and while time heals the heart there is always the memory of that moment that can turn up in an instant.  So what do you do?  I mean you want to do something. You can...  

Pray!  

Prayer is powerful!  It's why we ask for prayers, it's why we lean on prayer, it's why we know that prayer gives us clarity and comfort when things aren't going as we need them to go.  You want to help them then pray for their strength, for faith and for guidance.  Prayer is a blessing, a gift and a privilege that allows us to intercede by asking God to help them realize He is there, that we are there and they are not alone.  So pray, give thanks and be blessed... Today and everyday... 

God is always listening.

Daily BITUB- "Productive or Complete"

Yesterday seemed to fly by!  I had a million things to do and it seems as if I ran out of time to do them.  What I remember though was putting aside some things I wanted to do to focus on things I felt needed to be done.  As I thought more about that I realized how often it happens.  Don't misinterpret what I'm saying...  We have responsibilities and those are a must, and many of those are things that make us feel productive and good about our day.  However, if we often ignore the things that make us who we are... Those hobbies, quiet moments, playing with our kids, laughing with friends...  The things that nurture our souls, sharpen our talents, give us joy and help us grow... We are doing ourselves and others a disservice.  We aren't reaching our full potential because we are leaving out the necessary parts of it that help us reach it!  In order to do that we must include in our day those special things that bring out the best in us.  It's a balance, and I fully understand it's not easy to do, but as you progress through life do your best to find the time to include ALL your blessings.  You might just find that your day doesn't just feel productive...  It feels complete, and that is a feeling that makes God's beautiful gift of life that much more blessed!

Daily BITUB- "Who are you?"

So who do you want to be?  More importantly are you deciding it or allowing others to tell you "what" you should be?  All the things that matter to you, all the places you want to go, all the things you want to accomplish make up the person you want to be!  No matter how far stretched the goal seems... No matter how wild the dream... If it matters to you then go after it!  Deep within you know what you want!  You know you need it in order to feel like you!  You know that it's the only way you will truly feel satisfied!  Will it be easy?  Probably not... But ask yourself will the regret of not trying be harder to accept?  This is where you decide just how important it is to you and if you are willing to challenge yourself to be that person you know you can be.  Remember it isn't "what" you are...  It's who you are!  Who you are in every aspect of life.  Who you are when it comes time to fight for your beliefs.  Who you are when those that matter most need you and who you are in faith.

Daily BITUB- "Giving up?"

There are countless reasons to give up.  Even more reasons to turn around and walk away.  We can convince ourselves we aren't worthy, that the dreams we have aren't worth it, that we won't ever be happy.  Yes, we are able to bring ourselves down like no one can.  That happens a lot...  Sometimes it may even seem easier to say no to ourselves rather than to fight for what we believe in.  In doing that we don't allow ourselves the beauty of reaching our potential.  The beauty of allowing others to see our light.  The beauty of giving back to the gift of life... Thankful to God for letting us live it.  It's hard sometimes and it will be hard again.  So why stop dreaming now?  Why lower the expectation?  Why give up on those goals?  We don't back down because it's difficult!  No that's when we dig our feet in to that foundation we have built and push forward!  Faith knows no boundaries that we don't put upon it... That's why we close our eyes and leap!  We leap over the breaks in the path and we climb through the adversity step by step, blessing by blessing! We draw upon those that love us most, the experiences that we have nurtured into strength and the love that God has for us... Unconditional love that if we allow ourselves to have it shall be all we ever will need to stay the course, never give up, fight for what matters and to always Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU!

Where does your strength come from?  Prayer?  Faith?  Support? Knowledge? Chances are the answer is YES to all of it.  Our blessings create strength...  They often are the center of our strength even when we don't realize it.  Showing up in an answered prayer, in a quiet moment, in a cool breeze that reminds us of the beauty around us, in a smile, a moment of clarity, a hug, a friend, our family... Daily BITUB- "The Choices We Make"

Yesterday I had several conversations with people who kept telling me "they said I had to do this" or "they made that decision for me".  I've been there... There where I made those same statements and honestly it was easy to tell myself that, but I had to share my thoughts because over the years that concept of others making decisions for me has changed.  

So I asked them... 

Why would you allow others to dictate what matters most to you?  Why would you allow others to make decisions about your life?  No one can, or should, make those decisions for you!  Sure they can offer experience, can provide insight, even entice you by "what ifs"...  But decisions about life, good or bad, are going to always be yours.  Thus the responsibility for what comes from those decisions are yours as well!  Understand your influence in your life... That you are, and should be, the biggest influence there is in every aspect of your life and how you are choosing to live it.  Think about your priorities... Think about those that matter most to you... Think about why you live, who you live for and the importance of every decision you make becomes clear.  So why are you waiting for someone to tell you what comes next?  Take a breath, give your worries to God and have faith that whatever decisions you make throughout the journey will be the ones you must make to place you exactly where you need to be when God intends for you to be there.

Daily BITUB- "Just some thoughts... Development"

Just some thoughts... 

I am blessed to work and interact with a lot of different people day after day.  I find myself thinking about their development...  Not just what they can learn, but what they can teach, and then taking each moment in and observing best practices to emulate and to share.  Every person has that switch.  Finding it though takes time... But that passion exists within us all.  It drives us and helps us understand that we are all capable of reaching our personal and professional goals!  Helping others, as well as reminding myself, that we don't have to do it alone is a must!  It is easy to get caught up in why someone hasn't been given an opportunity, or why they haven't been coached, helped or given assistance in developing a plan... But instead of wondering about "why not" that energy is best spent in thinking why not NOW!  There is opportunity for those willing to pursue, dedicate and commit themselves to those opportunities!  That's part of the blessing of realizing that anyone can achieve those peaks...  And all of us would be equally blessed in helping one another climb them together!
