My parents showed me, encouraged me, and then let me.  My wife gives me her confidence, her love, and then supports me.  My kids inspire me, motivate me, and trust in me.  The people I work with push me, rely on me, and empower me.  Those  special people in our lives are so much a part of why we live, how we live, and what we live for!  They are the foundation, the catalyst, the inspiration that helps us do everything we can to provide, grow, learn, and experience.  They help us realize how blessed we are and what it means to love someone more than yourself.  Their faith and belief that we can reach our dreams is backed when we do and bring them along for the ride!  Their support becomes the foundation we build from knowing we simply can't let them down as we focus our energy, our love, and our faith on ensuring we always do our best to lift them up.

Believing in yourself.  Believing in others.  It's not something you turn off and on.  You either do or you don't.  Yes, there are moments of doubt.  Yes, there are moments of weakness.  Though every moment that challenges us also gives us strength.  Another layer of truth in who we are and why we are.  We get to walk the talk.  The talk about what we say we will do, and show we are committed to actually doing it.  There are so many ways to give up, but only one way not to... That's to trust in what you know, and trust in your ability to figure out the rest along the way.  You've done it before and chances are you'll do it again and again.  That's how you get to those hard to reach places.  How you get to a point you never thought you could, and realize the dream you never thought you would.

Daily BITUB- "Excuses!"

Excuses, excuses, excuses!  How many times have you heard why something can't be done?  The obstacles are too great.  The challenge is beyond my skill set.  I'm too busy.  There are always going to be reasons why something can't be done.  There are always going to be problems that must be dealt with.  What isn't always going to be there is the ability to do more than you ever thought yourself capable.  What isn't always going to be there are those willing to step up, step in, and do whatever it takes to hit their goal, to accomplish the task, and to build their foundation to reach their wildest dreams.  What won't always be there are those willing to offer solutions and then take the initiative to implement them.  You can't make someone do something they aren't willing to do, but you can motivate by rolling up your sleeves and getting in the game!  Whether it's within an organization, a sports team, or life in general you have to be willing, dedicated, and committed to doing all you can do, and then some, if you want that next level.  After all anyone can say why they can't, but it's those innovators, those willing to go the extra mile, the leaders that focus on why the can!

It's easy to take life for granted.  It's easy to overlook the blessings that exist around us day in and day out.  Often it isn't until it is taken from us that we realize just how much we didn't notice it.   We are all guilty of it.  We have all had so much and wanted more.  So much more that we miss the little things that God puts in our lives that make us who we are, that provide us daily stability, joy, comfort, and reason to be.  We miss the sunrise, sunset, the quiet moments, and the ones filled with laughter.  We forget the simple "I love you" we heard before we started our day, and the smile that carried us through it. While life is filled with big moments let's not forget all the other things that without we wouldn't be who we are.  We wouldn't fight for the things we do.  We wouldn't get up, get going , and push ourselves to experience all we can while we can.  Yes! It's those day to day blessings that we shouldn't ever forget to appreciate and give thanks to God for allowing us the beauty that exists by having them in our lives.

Count you out?  

How could I when so many people never counted me out?  How many people believe in you because of someone who believed in them? How many times have you said "I can't" only to be told by your supporters "you will"? How often have you wanted to throw in the towel only to be encouraged to continue?  How many times have you hit the wall only to be pushed over by those that refuse to let you fail?  How often have you lost faith and someone lent you theirs?  How many times have you fallen only to be picked up by those that love you?  How many times have you given in and someone gave you more to continue?  How many times have you felt life was one dark day after another only to get a glimmer of light that carried you further?  How many times have you felt lost only to realize that God knows exactly where you are?  

Give up on you?  

Not a chance because too many people never gave up on me.

Sitting here thinking of all there is to do today.  Realizing that the more there is to do the more blessings there are surrounding us.  Getting up early for work means you have a job and the beauty of a new day. The kids too loud, means you still have them close enough to hear.  House needs to be picked up, means you have a roof.  Obligations, responsibilities, deadlines, expectations, means you are a part of something and someone that needs you.  Sometimes we overlook our influence on the perspective of things.  It's up to us how we look at the tasks in front of us.  It's our approach to the moments that God provides us with to grow, to be better, to experience, and to simply take in and appreciate that will shape our day.  

Yes, there is a lot to do today, and I'm thankful to God that I have those things to do.

Daily BITUB- "Road Less Traveled"

How often have you wanted to be on that road less traveled, but try as you might you simply couldn't bring yourself to wander off the beaten path.  At some point, whether we choose it or it is chosen for us, we will be on that path.  Our preparation for it is entirely up to us!  We will face the decision to stay on the path or to venture back to the one we know.  The decision is not easy and the outcome is uncertain.  What is certain is that you are faced with the aftermath.  Often it isn't the regret of trying, it is the regret of not allowing yourself to know what you can do!  We ponder the possibilities and we question if we missed the opportunity to experience something we never have.  Thing is it's never too late.  There is no timeline put on a dream.  There is no deadline to reaching beyond limitations. Every day we are faced with crossroad after crossroad.  Decisions to do or not to do.  Every moment we have that choice is another opportunity to do more than we did yesterday.  To push ourselves to the limits and then surpass them!  To sit back one day and say you took that road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

Daily BITUB- "Life Changes"

How often do we talk about making life changes? Often it's in those most frustrated instances we are most determined it's going to happen.  You know those times...   The pants don't fit quite right, nobody at the job wants to do anything, this isn't the career you envisioned, the house had too many issues to fix!  We get motivated in those moments to make a change, only to settle ourselves later and decide it would be too hard, too risky, too much time, or simply too much effort.  Complacency is a scary thing.  We settle in and that comfort zone sometimes gives us a false sense of security.  We quit pushing ourselves, stop reaching beyond our limitations, we aren't learning, growing and we simply won't dare take a risk...  I mean what if it doesn't work? Yes, "what if"!  Thing is if you are thinking about a life change chances are you might just need one. While it is never easy, what worth having is?  Think about all the things in your life you fought for!  Think about how many times you refused to quit and it paid off!  God has a plan for us.  Sometimes though we get stuck in a part of that plan.  If you ever get to that point again, where you want life to change, then don't focus that energy on the negative of "what if" put your focus on the beauty of "I will"!

What motivates you?  What gets you moving?  What fires you up and ignites that passion inside you to go beyond limitations?  Think about it.  Often times we may not even realize it's what drives us until we reach that wall.  Then it becomes the building blocks we use to climb up that wall.  Maybe it's your family.  Maybe it's your spouse. Maybe it's the promise of a better tomorrow.  Maybe it's simply you wanting to be more for the ones who love you exactly as you are.  Sometimes we forget what started it all.  We forget the small blessing of opportunity that turned into one of our biggest blessings that now carries us each and every day.  All it takes is a moment to refocus... A moment to get aligned, to get your balance, gather up your faith, and get to treading through those obstacles that attempt to derail us if we allow them to. Go ahead, get motivated again!  It's there!  You've found it many times before!  Allow yourself to be inspired by how far you have come, and finish the drill by chasing down those dreams to all the places you still want to go!

Take a moment to enjoy the simple things.  Laughter of kids in the next room, a beautiful sunset, a kiss from your spouse and best friend, a warm dinner with family.   The sunrise and the promise of a new day.  The ability to hear another story from a grandparent.  Take a moment to enjoy the simple things.  Hand write a thank you card.  Teach your kids that "thank you", "yes sir", "yes ma'am" is how you should always respond.  Sit quietly and do nothing.  Turn your phone off and take a walk.  Have two cookies instead of one.  Pray with your kids.  Take a moment to enjoy the simple things.  Laugh until you cry.  Feel the emotions you need to feel.  Express your opinion and be open to the expression of others.  Read a book for fun.  Let your kids read you to sleep.  Call a friend you've been missing.  Buy flowers for your mom and tell her thank you for always hugging you tight.  Tell your dad thank you for the life lessons and for being a good role model.  Let your family know they are your inspiration.  Say "I love you" every chance you get. 

Take a moment...  

Say a prayer before you go to bed. Say a prayer when you wake up. Thank God for He is great, for the blessings in your life, and for the simple moments.

Life is in constant motion.  Sometimes it would be nice to stop it to catch our breath.  Sometimes it would be great if we could just press pause so we could have time to make a more educated decision. Thing is that's not how it works.  Life is moving, progressing, unfolding every second of the day!  So we must find ways to do the same! We must actively push ourselves even when we feel like we can't! We must constantly work to move ourselves forward.  Take inventory of what's in your life and assess what is needed in order to develop and grow.  Prioritize those things that motivate you to progress!  The character you build while pushing yourself will be one of the many building blocks in sustaining that growth!  Your development must fully encompass everything - Attitude, behavior, perseverance, dedication, and commitment!  

Yes life is in constant motion, and chances are once you start to see just how much you are capable of achieving you will realize so are you!

Perception can be everything. In some cases it's the only thing.  How do we change it though?  Honestly, first we have to care enough to change it and then understand how that perception was created. Often times things can get lost in translation-What it means to one may not mean the same to another.  Is that a bad thing?  Not necessarily.  We are constantly encouraged to express our individuality.  It's what makes us who we are.  No matter what is said or done, how it makes us feel is how it is perceived. Happy, sad, angry, content... Every emotion lends itself to a perception.  How we look at ourselves will influence how we look at others.  All of it plays into the day to day perceptions we allow ourselves to have.  So remember, we can think the good or bad into any situation.  It's our choice!  Dark- Gives us opportunity to see the light!  Adversity- Gives us opportunity to overcome.  Hurt - Gives us opportunity to heal.  God- Well, that gives us opportunity for anything and everything!  So as we hope to be perceived, so should we try to perceive others.  "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31). Have faith that even in our darkest moments there is beauty, strength and hope. That's a perception that we should allow ourselves to be blessed with each and every day!

Instead hear those telling you the reason why you must!  Surround yourself with the blessings God has put in your life!  The people who believe in you! Who fight for you! Who you fight for!  The ones who put as much into your dreams as they do into their own.  Quit listening to those who say you can't and you won't, and start listening to all those who know you will!

What outcome are you looking to achieve?   

Last night I was scrolling through my emails and realized there was so much negative.  No "way to go", "good luck", "try harder", "keep the faith"...    No instead it was line after line about things people didn't do.  I understand we must provide feedback to get better, but what I see more often than not is calling out what others are not doing instead of taking a step back and seeing what areas we can improve.  We are all guilty of it.  We all have areas to focus on, and with that is the beauty of being able to do it!  We are all capable!  Capable of a better us! Capable of realizing that our areas of opportunity are moments to be better!  Moments to exceed expectations! Moments to be our blessings.  We have a choice today.  A choice to notice, be, perpetuate the negative, or not.   Instead how about encourage, give thanks, offer a helping hand.  Sometimes it's that simple, and that positive energy might just provide the exact outcome we were hoping to achieve in the first place.

I know you want to.  I know we all try to.  I know that every day in every way we look for the best possible outcomes to the situations we face.  The reality of it all is that you simply can't make everyone happy.  You can't satisfy everyone.  You can't give everyone what they want.  That's not how it works.  What you can do, however, is be consistent.  Be true to your values, trust in your morals, be firm with your expectations, and always trust that despite the storms that create uncertainty, doubt, chaos... You can be the constant.  Life changes.  The scenery changes.  There are people in your life that come and go.  Your priorities change... But you don't have to.  You get to be the familiar in the unfamiliar territories along the journey.  While it may not make everyone happy, it creates stability for those people in your life that matter most, and often times that is exactly what makes them the happiest.

Daily BITUB- "The Toughest Critic"

Sometimes that person staring back at you is your toughest critic.  Sometimes the hardest feedback comes from yourself.  Being completely honest with your wants, needs, strengths and opportunities gives you perspective.  You can't expect to reach the next level if you aren't willing to recognize your current place.  Look at what you must do!  Commit to what is important!  Focus your energy on what comes next! Then open yourself up to the reality of what you need to learn, understand, study...  Then do it!   Self development is a gift to yourself.  It is an investment that only you can make.  You can't expect it to be given to you!  No... You must be willing to earn the right to have it!  The hardest times are the ones you stand face to face with yourself.  Though, it is those times that will provide you the most direction.  Direction to what comes next, what you are willing to do, how far you will go, the commitment it will take, and the promise that no matter what, you will gain experience for the next challenge.  After all that person staring back at you may be your toughest critic, but when you start to believe in yourself you realize you are the only one that can truly do something about it!

Daily BITUB- "Inspiration"

From an email I received this weekend:  "What inspires you to write your topics everyday?"

For 10 minutes everyday I sit and reflect on the things that matter most to me.  I think about the blessings, the challenges, the mistakes I've made, the ones I've yet to make.  I think about family, friends, where I've been and where I'm going.  Some days my hearts heavy, other days it's full.  I wonder if today i'll accomplish my to do list, or at least something on it.  I look around at my house and give thanks to God for my wife and kids for making it a home.  I think about my family and all the support they have given me, and the love we share with each other.  I think about my company and all the people there who are like family that make me want to be better.  Most of all I think about the journey to this moment.  The twists, turns, mountains, valleys, the cities and states we've lived, the people who we met, the friends we've made a long the way and the ones we've yet to meet.  Some days I am overwhelmed with how much there is to be grateful for, and as I sit and reflect God guides me. He gives me the courage to write it, the heart to express it, the faith to pursue my dreams, the passion to Believe in the Unbelievable possibilities that each new day brings, and the blessing to share that with anyone who allows me the opportunity to do so...  And that is all the inspiration I will ever need.
