Daily BITUB- “Stop”

You are stuck aren't you?  You are not focused, not motivated, and paying attention to things you shouldn't.  Why are you letting them hold you back?  You can't control them can you?  Why do you let them keep you up at night?  Why do you let them get to you?  Why would you expect someone to change just because you don't like how they do things?  When you sit back and look at all those questions you quickly realize that you are allowing things to keep you from focusing on what you can control.  It's a deterrent that people who really aren't interested in your long term dreams, goals, and success throw out in your path occasionally to give the perception that they care.  Stop worrying about them.  Stop putting your energy into them.  Stop focusing on what they think.  Instead, start laying those worries before God.  Start praying instead of worrying about what you can't change.  Pray for them, pray for wisdom, pray for guidance, pray for strength, and then go do what you do.  Go influence the moment.  Go be your blessings.  Go and be motivated to make changes you can control in your life in order to clear the way to get from where you are to where you know you need to go!

"Thank you"!  "Job well done"! "Way to go!"  Recognition is important.  When someone does something well, we should take the time to show them appreciation.  We should acknowledge them for what they have been able to accomplish.  Sometimes though, in that recognition, we overlook why they were able to accomplish it.  The fight, the dedication, the commitment, their character and attitude are all affirmation of who they are.  We should show our gratitude for that, as it is those attributes that often motivate us to fight our own fights.  We all have those special people in our lives.  The ones whose ability to inspire comes by just being themselves!  Take notice of their focus on the values, blessings and beauty of life that gives them an ability to push even when the odds are stacked against them.  It's not by accident.  They have faith in God's plan and the willingness to show it, live it and lead by it!  Appreciate those that reach the peak, but take a moment to also acknowledge and affirm just how much their pursuit of life from the valleys to those peaks means to you.  Cherish those people... Tell them what they mean to you!  Let them know you recognize they are a blessing and tell them how much they inspire you to pursue peaks of your own!

Daily BITUB- “Waiting”

You are tired of waiting, aren't you?  You wait to get out of school.  You wait for that promotion.  You wait to find your soulmate.  You wait for everything, but you are not seeing things come to fruition.  I mean, you work hard at life.  You give it your all.  You put in the extra effort because you know it matters.  So, where's the payoff?  You know you may live a lifetime waiting for that answer, but how often do we see things come to us that we quickly blow off once we have it?  It seems the effort to achieve quickly diminishes once we have it.  Done with school?  That doesn't mean we stop learning, developing, studying to be better.  You moved up the ranks at work?  That doesn't mean you stop working hard, doing what got you there, and being blessed to be a servant leader to others.  Soulmate?  Once you find that special person that's when you get to share the moments of life with them.  You get to spend each new day making sure they know what they mean to you, and just how much of an important part of you they are.  Yes, we wait for many things.  Yet we have many others we should spend our time appreciating so we don't forget what they meant to us while we waited.  After all, remember it's not our timeline that matters.  "He has made everything beautiful in its time."- Ecclesiastes 3:11 

His time will always be the right time and worth waiting for.

Daily BITUB- “Risks”

You want to live that dream, but you simply can't get yourself to move from the planning stage.  You couldn't possibly do anything you aren't sure of the outcome.  If you want it, then you better go get it! You have to take risks!  You have to try things you never have if you want to reach places you've never been.  There is no perfect scenario.  There is no perfect time.  Not if you are going to exceed expectations.  Not if you are going to go beyond the norm.  We can't stay in that shell hoping that things won't get to us.  Instead of protecting ourselves, we have to let go and push ourselves!  You have to branch out and experience.  Invest in your dreams by putting in the time, the effort, the dedication.  Make a promise to yourself and then own it! There isn't a "but, "what if", or a "maybe" in pursuing relentlessly those things that make us better.  You pursue them all the time.  You push yourself all the time.  You appreciate the opportunities all the time to do more, to be more, to give more.  There is never going to be a perfect time to take a risk, because now is the time.  Now is the moment.  Now is when you leap!  Leap in faith, and trust that where you land will be that much closer to realizing just how beautiful living your dreams can be!

Daily BITUB- “Tunnels”

"Though a host encamp against me, my heart will not fear; I shall be confident"- Psalm 27:3

Sometimes you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.  You want to see it, you beg, plead, pray, but it's not there.  You hesitate to move forward, you debate yourself on whether or not you should double back.  You question the moment, you curse the circumstances, and you doubt.  Such are the trials we sometimes face that are filled with so many obstacles, so many hardships, so many naysayers, that make it almost impossible to see the light.  Yet, that's where real faith comes in!  That's where Believing in the Unbelievable possibilities matter!  Sure the tunnel may be twisting, turning, confusing, relentless. It's not about seeing the light now, but trusting that at some point you will.  Trusting the possibility that light is around the corner.  Trusting that through God, together, we can be the light in the tunnel, and believing when it seems impossible to believe.  Have faith that whatever tunnel you are in, through God, there will always be a light at the end of it, but it's up to us to push on until we get there.

Daily BITUB- “Acceptance”

I spent many years worrying about things I had failed at.  I hid those thoughts deep down, not willing to share, for fear people would think less of me.  Fear that I would let others down.  It wasn't until I accepted my role in all of it that I began to understand what it would take to get back up.  It wasn't easy, and while I refused to talk about things, God was still there listening to what I didn't say.  What He did was open my eyes to the numerous blessings around me who had plenty to say!  In those moments, those closest to us, those that matter most are often the ones we tend to push away because they tell us what we need to hear!  They challenge us to reach our potential and help us to realize what we miss in ourselves during those moments of doubt.  They are willing to tell us the hard things and that is the true blessing.  Just pay attention and you will start to see those blessings!  They are there in many forms to coach us, hold us, let us lean on their faith, pray with us and for us! Remember those who love us most are impossible to let down as they are the first to be there to help us back up.

How much can I take?  

How many things can happen today?  Why is God testing me? 

Ever find yourself asking these questions?  Maybe that's exactly what you are asking yourself right now.  It's easy to question, but we often forget just how resilient we have been and can be.  We are amazingly built to withstand a lot, and we are much stronger than we give ourselves credit sometimes.  The thing is despite what we feel we simply aren't called upon to exert that strength often, but when we have no other choice but to be strong that's the moment we realize the extent of our strength!  A strength made up of many things beyond just ourselves. I challenge you to think about the countless days where everything goes right.  Think about the friends, family, experiences, faith, prayers.  Think about the blessings that you encounter and God's beautiful gifts that surround you.  Those things are still there when the day doesn't go as you planned.  They are there when you question why today isn't what you had hoped.  They are always there for us.  There waiting, praying, helping.  There reminding us that we are strong and we have this life because God knows we are strong enough to live it!

How often have you sat and thought that if you could just talk to your younger self you would tell them what not to do?  It's funny how that works.  I've talked to many people that despite the tough past they had, would relive it rather than face the future.  Not necessarily to undo, but because if the familiarity of it all.  It's the uncertainty of the future that scares people sometimes.  The thought of making more wrong choices, of missing out because they overlooked something, the idea that what lies ahead they must face alone, of simply choosing the wrong path.  Truth is we can't change the past, only reflect on it, learn from it, and grow.  We can take all those lessons and use them to equip us when we walk into those uncharted areas of our life.  If we knew what lay ahead as we know what we've already faced, then we wouldn't need faith.  Faith is the light that guides us when it seems impossible to believe things can be ok.  Hope is the beacon in the distance we can lock our trajectory on as we move forward.  While we can't determine what may come, one thing will always be certain-  If we walk with God then we will never be alone, we will never be lost, we will never be on any path He doesn't intend for us to be on. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Daily BITUB- “Hope”

Feeling like you are in a hopeless situation?  There is no such thing!  Hopelessness can only be if we allow ourselves to give up on our faith.  Do you really believe that through God all is possible?  Do you trust in your ability to persevere?  Then how can anything be without hope?  I get it; even the strongest of faith can find themselves feeling completely defeated.  I understand it happens because I've been in that place.  I've been in that situation where I felt like there was nowhere to turn.  Though it was hard to see at first, I finally realized that it was all me.  Me not paying attention to everything around me: the people, the support and the opportunities God presented me with daily simply were overlooked and in some cases abandoned.  I created that sense of hopelessness by giving up on the possibilities.  It's amazing once you sit and really focus on the abundance of belief and blessings.  All those hopeless feelings go away.  Is it easy to do?  No.  Is it worth it?  Are we worth it?  Absolutely!  That realization brings light to those dark places!  The dead ends we thought we were at begin to reveal the bridges that we simply couldn't see before.  Then the beauty of tomorrow takes shape and the promise of today provides the hope we've had all along.

Let's face it, life is short.  Because of that, we must make every day significant.  Because of that, we can't get stuck on the other reality; life is full of challenges that require us to alter and adjust how we do things sometimes.  There are no guarantees of what will come to you today.  It might be the biggest, baddest, most challenging thing yet.  It might not be.  It may be the best day you've had in a long time.  Either way, it's another day to experience what you can, to admire the beauty of your surroundings, to take in the moments that inspire you, to appreciate the laughter of your children, the smiles of friends, the love from your spouse, the helping hands of others, and the comfort of family.  We get to make our moments everything they should be!  We are blessed that today is another gift from God and another day to be our blessings. It will be filled with those moments where you'll decide where this day fits into your life, but it starts with each new dawn as we decide if today will be a day we live.

Daily BITUB- “Relief”

Relief?  Relief from a person, place, a feeling, doubts, fears?  You need relief now or you are just going to throw your hands up and quit!  You are going to be done with it and move on!  You are lost in this storm and don't know where to go next!  Guess what?  It's still going to be there, despite you not wanting to be.  It is going to be a thought that will show up when you least expect it.  You can't run away from it!  Instead, slow down for a moment and let it all catch up.  While it does, give yourself the time to pray and talk to God.  Allow yourself the opportunity to catch your breath, rejuvenate your spirit, lean on someone's faith!  Allow yourself to gather your strength and find your fight!  It's there!  Don't just move on, but move forward and through it.  Handle what you must so that you gain the blessing of experience.  Could there be hurt, frustration, confusion?  Of course, but that's all part of living life!  It's part of being an active participant in ourselves and what matters most to us!  It's learning about who we are every day and building upon those foundations!  The relief will come as we begin to realize how we are better for this storm and how strong we can be as we weather it.  The relief is in our and faith and trust in God as we allow Him to guide us through it all.

Daily BITUB- “God’s Hands”

How many times have you heard someone say if it was them they would have done it differently?  How many times have you said it?  It's easy when we aren't in the situation to feel that we could have handled it better.  Truth is, maybe we could have, but how about offering a helping hand?  How about offering a shoulder, an ear, an experience?  Sometimes we simply can't determine what lead up to a situation, nor can we truly determine everything going on in that person's life.  Everyone reacts different to challenges, adversity, and obstacles.  Try as we might, we will all face setbacks.  However, it is in those times we can show how we handle the moment by our reactions, attitude, and dedication to continuing to move forward.  While we may not ever know what it's like to be in someone's shoes, we can all pray and encourage one another to place ourselves in God's hands.  There, no matter the situation, we have faith that we can all handle whatever comes our way.

Daily BITUB- “Overwhelmed?”

You feel overwhelmed?  You are thinking this is too much.  You can't get your footing.  You can't figure out what's most important as it all seems to be.  You can't even catch your breath as one thing after another keeps hitting you.  

Hit pause for a minute.  Take a deep breath.  

Think about what you need to happen.  What's your end goal? What's real success look like?  What do you need to get there? Who do you need to help you?  Why are you doing it?  Remember purpose drives passion!  You have to understand what things mean to you in order to truly prioritize what matters most.  Think about it.  You know what it will take.  You know you can take it.  You know because you aren't interested in anything less than doing all you can. You aren't interested in limitations, excuses, or settling.  Maybe the odds are stacked against you.  Perfect, because when it's all said and done you will look back and realize you had this along.

Focus on what you control.  You can't control what others think.  You can't control what others do.  You can't control someone's attitude, work ethic, or thought process.  You can, however, influence it by maneuvering yourself through what you are able to influence.  You can lead by example by doing your best in whatever you have in front of you today.  You can be the one who presents solutions in the face of adversity.  You can push yourself past limits, and you can be the one who won't settle for anything less than exceeding expectations.  You can be the positive, the bar raiser, the one who challenges the norm.  You can be the one willing to share your passion and chase down your dream no matter how far fetched it may seem.  Maybe you can't control what others do, but you can control what they see when they look at you.  Focus on that.  Put your energy into the things that move you to be better,  that help you grow, and that give you the control over just how far you are willing to dream.

How great is it when you run across that person that motivates you to want to be better?  Those people that see the potential in everything and are willing to take the time to help others realize that potential. We run across those individuals more often than we think.  They are in our family, spouse, coworkers, mentors, coaches.  They truly want nothing more than to serve others, to encourage when others discourage, and to be the positive when nobody else is willing to be.  While we tend to place our focus on the naysayers, the negative people, the ones who look for the bad in every situation, we have a choice not to.  We have a choice to put our energy into exceeding expectations, to delivering on the promises we've made to ourselves and others, and to living up to the potential that those special people we live for already see in us.

Daily BITUB- “Doors”

It's not about one door closing so another can open.  The doors we open will always be open.  Try as we might to close them we have already made the choice to walk through them.  So instead of using energy to close those doors we must take that experience and move toward our next one.  It won't be far.  In fact there are doors everywhere around us each and everyday.  Ones we want to go through.  Others we need to go through.  Some we avoid, but they are still there.  Others we keep walking back and forth through hoping for a different outcome.  There isn't a lack of doors in our life, but we must be invested enough in ourselves to be willing to climb the walls that hide some of them.  We must embrace the experiences, the adversity, the passion we bring along with us through each and every door that provides us the strength to reach the next.  We must trust that we have created a foundation that will sustain them and believe that every one is a choice and a chance.  From the ones we know to the ones we don't.  The unfamiliar doors are but another part of the path, and faith tell us there will always be the familiarity of God through each and every one!  So take the chances you must, be blessed as you open that next door today and Believe in the Unbelievable possibilities that can exist on the other side.

Daily BITUB- “With God”

When our focus is having power over others, or authority without reason, then we risk losing our way. We become self-serving instead of servant leaders. When our goal is only money, then we get into a panic when we don't have it. We base our identity around what we do or don't have. I've been there. I've been in both of those places and realized that there is so much more joy in giving than receiving. So much good in helping others reach their goals both personal and professional. We are easily blinded by instant gratification. We want answers today. We want to have things now! Thing is, we lose sight of the end goal because our focus is solely on that "now". We forget that the real reward isn't in what we have or when we get it, but in who we are blessed to share it with and what we are blessed to do with it. We are blessed when we allow ourselves to realize that God should be at the center of it all. Without God then we are destined to keep losing our way. We will always wonder when it all could end- the materialistic things, the money, the wants. With God, we can have faith He will always provide what we need. With God, there is no end.

Go ahead and pursue your happiness, but don't forget to take a moment to appreciate those that have helped you have the opportunity to pursue it.  Take inventory of those blessings in your life and thank them.  Then show your appreciation by allowing them to share in your good times like you do your tough times.  Tell them thank you, I couldn't do it without you, you are my rock, you are part of my faith, I believe in you as you believe in me.  I love you for all you are, want to be, what you dream and for allowing me to share the beauty of life by living mine with you in it!  You never know what tomorrow brings, but you know exactly what you can do today!  So what are you waiting for?  Make today matter and let those people in your life that do, know they do!

What if you hadn't decided to do the things that put you where you are today?  Would you be the person you are?  Would you know the things you know?  The experiences you have often prepare you for what is to come.  There is no comfort in thinking about "what if's".  After all, the path is in front of you and the past is behind you.  Maybe you aren't totally satisfied with who you are, but nothing you've already done will impact the changes you want.  The impact comes from your ability to press on, to move through the next chapter of you and the new experiences that will come with it.  Our past choices, our regrets, our "wish I wouldn't have", have nothing but lessons.  Take those lessons, take the blessings in them, take the growth, the strength, the emotions and let's go after whatever it is you want to do next.  If not now, then when?  If not you, then who?  Today is the day you stop talking about what was, what you wish you could do, what you want to do and you start doing!  Today is a great day to Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU!

Daily BITUB- “A New Day”

How beautiful is a new day?  Amidst all that goes on around us we have the power to be a positive part of so many moments. It's so easy to get caught up in the ever-changing world.  Even easier to get caught up in how negative things are lately.  There is no guarantee of what can be, but there is a guarantee God is with us through it all.  While I can donate time, money, clothes, I can offer up my thoughts which may be completely opposite of someone else.  I can give comfort through ideas and express what I stand for.  I can argue what's right and I can listen to what others think is right.  I can do all that and yet still things will happen.  So do we stop?  Do we give in?  No!  We keep doing our best to influence what we can.  To be a positive part in the lives we may touch today.  To lend faith to those who may need it right now.  To give prayers to those who are looking for answers.  To give comfort, hugs, smiles, thoughts.  We can't stop being the good we want the world to be. As I've said often, maybe we don't change the world, but we must believe in what we believe, trust in God, have faith that things can be better, and do our best to not let the world change us.

Daily BITUB- “You Earned It!”

If you are willing to go through so much to get to that place... if you are willing to fight, to push, to overcome all the obstacles in your path then you've earned it!  So why would you allow others to tell you that you can't have it?  Why would you let others keep telling you you can't do it?  You put in the hours to reach a commitment you made to yourself.  You made the sacrifices!  Don't stop now.  Don't let others push you back!  Grab hold of your experience, your faith, your belief in why you do it, your confidence in who you are and what you want, and pull!  Pull like you've never pulled before, and stop letting the negative overshadow the light! That positive light that resonates throughout the tunnel from where you have been to where you are today.  If you were willing to come this far, then why stop now?  The only thing standing in your way, is you.
