Daily BITUB- “Memories”

Such a beautiful thing is a memory of joy. Like remembering the warmth of a vacation by reminiscing it in your mind. You can hear the laughter of the children and the shouts of friends and family. You can see the venues, taste the food and drinks, feel the air on those late night walks, even hear the stories that were told again and again.  From the first until the last day when you wished it would continue, you remember. The absolute feeling of that memory though is what tells you how very blessed you are that it happened, and you have it whenever you need it. Such a beautiful thing is a memory of adversity. The way you felt pulled down at times. The feeling of exasperation as you wondered when would this end. The countless hours of work, push and challenges you faced.  The late nights, the early mornings, the extra time you put in learning what you needed to move forward. The vigorous and long schedules. The setbacks and naysayers. From the first until the last day when you wished it wouldn't continue, you remember.  The absolute feeling of that memory though is what tells you how very blessed you are that it happened, and you have that too whenever you need it.  

Our lives are filled with so many beautiful gifts from God. Cherish those moments, give thanks to those experiences of opportunities past and present and always allow yourself to Believe in the Unbelievable ones that are yet to come.

Daily BITUB- “Who are you pleasing?”

Who are you trying to please? Why are you trying to please them? What happens if you don't? Often times we get so wrapped up in other people's perceptions of who we should be, what we should dream, where we should go we lose complete sight of what really matters. We forget about the importance of having a relationship with ourselves, with God, and being honest about the important things we need in our lives. We forget about our values, the foundation of faith we stand on, and the vision we had of chasing our dreams. There is no satisfaction in pleasing everyone around you if you aren't happy with who you are and if you aren't staying true to who you want to be. God will always provide the path, but it is on us to walk it! It's on us to follow our hearts, to live our lives, and dream our dreams. So I'll ask again. Who are you trying to please? Why are you trying to please them? What happens if you don't? Then again if you aren't happy, if you don't have the relationship with God you want because you are focused so much on others... What happens if you do?

Daily BITUB- “Silence”

"My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope  is from Him." - Psalm 62:5

How often do you allow yourself to sit in silence and reflect? I'm not talking about the 2 minutes in church after communion, nor am I talking about the 5 minutes in car line waiting for your kids or Starbucks. I'm talking about true, honest, quiet time where you allow yourself an opportunity to be present with just you and God. This is the time where you find the things you've been facing are at the forefront. Where you are able to expose yourself to the feelings deep down that God already knows about. These are those things you don't share, you don't shout from the rooftops, you don't post on Facebook. It's moments of peace, tranquility, and reflection on what really matters to you. It is where we allow ourselves to open our eyes to where we are and where we want to go. It's where we talk to God and praise Him for the blessings, for the strength, for the moments where we are closest to Him. Where it's just us and Him... in silence, in truth, in prayer. Let yourself have those moments. We all need them.

Daily BITUB: “Happy Thanksgiving!”

"All this is for your benefit, so that the Grace that is reaching more and more people may cause Thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God." 2 Corinthians 4:15

Being thankful isn't an obligation. It's a beautiful privilege. Often times it's easy to be thankful for the big things in our life-Church, family, friends, a roof, our work family. The smallest things though, well, we can overlook those. Those small things are ever abundant and realizing them is giving thanks. A smile, handshake, laughter, quiet time, the sunrise, the sunset, a new day full of opportunities... those things in our every day-our daily gifts. Today take a minute to give thanks for all of it, big and small, and quietly observe the many blessings that surround you. Give thanks to God for He is great and all we are, all we have, and all we do is through Him!

Let's be honest, blessings can be hard work. Sometimes we don't even realize the blessing until it presents itself when needed most. Sometimes it's when we lose it or we realize without it we couldn't be who we are today. God is not obligated to present us with what we deem a perfect scenario. He presents us with what He knows we need to reach our potential.  Our ability to look at life for the beauty it is allows us to put a positive influence on the outcomes of our day and ultimately our life. The events that we come face to face with are products of choices and allow us to develop our faith, strength and belief in ourselves and our relationship with God. Every single person, instance, moment provides us the ability to leave a lasting impression. We are not obligated to be anything either... In fact we get to make that decision daily on exactly who we are going to allow ourselves to be and become. Some blessings are hard work, but the blessing that is life is more than worth the effort!

Daily BITUB- “First Day”

We have all heard or said, "Today is the first day of the rest of our life!" We take an instance and we do our best to create a starting point. The place where everything gets to start anew.  In that process, however, we mustn't forget about the many things that helped us have the opportunity to start anew.  Don't dismiss your experience!  Don't dismiss those people in your life who have and continue to support you!  Allow it to be part of the foundation that you built in order to reach that next level. Give yourself credit for what you have faced! Use it. The adversity, set backs and challenges you have taken head-on matter!  If this point in life marks a new beginning allow the memories of your journey to give you a head start!  You've earned that. You've earned it through trials, through your determination to overcome limitations, through your ability to find the blessings amidst the uncertainty!  Remember God's gift of life is filled with an abundance of hope for what can and will be. After all when you really think about it, how beautiful is it that every new day gets to be the first day of the rest of your life.

Transforming yourself into what others want is not the answer.  Without you being you there can be no truth. False foundations do not last!  While we must adapt it doesn't mean we forget that our dreams and goals matter. Individuality is what creates character. It sets the bar for others to emulate and pushes people to go above and beyond even their own expectations. The individual strengths we have allows us to be who we are, and more importantly evolve into what we are capable of being. Remember God created your beauty! Have faith and focus on the gifts you as an individual child of God possesses. Allow yourself to shine... You just might illuminate a path so others may be motivated to do the same!

You want to be happy? Then choose to be! You want to feel joy? Then feel it! You want to chase a dream? Then stop making excuses why you can't and start appreciating all the reasons why you can. I know, there are a lot of stressful situations, obstacles, and roadblocks out there. I know there is uncertainty sometimes. I know there is fear, anxiety, hurt, confusion. The list can go on and on and on. I notice the negative. Sometimes it's difficult not to buy in to all of it. What I have come to find though is amidst all the things that can go wrong there are so many things going right. We forget that sometimes. We forget our ability to influence and take life head on. Attitude plays a huge role in our lives doesn't it? You get to choose to see the bad or realize the good. Yes, we have to deal with reality. There are things that must be handled. There are things we may not want to handle. Yet, in doing that we expose ourselves to the possibilities of making it all better. We give ourselves the blessing of being able to influence our lives in ways we may have thought was not possible... And in doing so we give ourselves the chance to choose happy.

Daily BITUB- “Trust in God”

Are you fully trusting in God and His plan? Do you truly have faith that God has you in His hands? We all want to be our best selves. We want to be in God's good Graces. We want to find Him and then hold on to Him. In order to do that we must allow God to be completely in our lives. We must trust in Him no matter the circumstance. We don't have to see it to believe it. We believe even when it seems impossible to believe. We go by the absolute truth that God is ever present, all knowing, all encompassing even when we don't acknowledge Him. He is always there waiting for us. He is always there amidst the storms, the quiet times, the joy, the pain, the fear and those moments of courage. He is there. There to be praised, to be loved, to be appreciated, and yes, to be trusted without hesitation.

While our honor should be every day, today I take a moment to say thank you to all the veterans. So many of our grandfathers, grandmothers, spouses, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, friends and family have served and provided us with our freedoms. They have sacrificed so much so we can have the opportunities we have to do all the things that freedom allows. They are heroes without ever asking to be.  

To all the Veterans- Thank you for being our blessings, for putting so many before yourself and for the countless sacrifices you have made and are still making for all of us. May you know that we are grateful. God bless you!

Relationships are important. They are necessary and present in all facets of life. Our relationships with God, our spouse, friends, coworkers, family... All are critical to living life, to growing, to experiencing. They create opportunities, emotions, blessings, and let's face it they aren't always easy. That's why we must be willing to be a participant in the creation, development and nurturing of those relationships. As we foster them we will find the beauty in learning from the tough ones, finding comfort in our special ones, and growing from all of them. We all must do our part as nothing happens by itself. We all are responsible for those interactions and moments, and ultimately it is those relationships with others that help us have a better relationship with ourselves.

You question why this. You question when will it be better. You question why you. It's inevitable that you will come face to face with people and things that can challenge you. Things that make you question your path. Things that make you doubt. They deter you from the goals you have set. That is if you are willing to let them. That really is the question isn't it?  Will you let them?  Remember negative people gain strength only when you give it to them! There is simply too much positive that exists around us for those negative things to matter. So, will you let them? The answer is NO! Answer the question with confidence! Answer it with your blessings in mind. Answer it with the strength of your past experiences. Answer it with your faith in God, His Grace, and His love for you.

Daily BITUB- “Habits”

We are creatures of habit, but are those habits conducive to reaching our goals? Are we wasting time on things that don't make us better? Are we missing moments staring at screens watching others live life instead of participating in our own? We all have said we will do better, we will start focusing our attention on the right things, we will realign our priorities, but then we don't. We go back into those habits that allow us to make excuses, to delay our progress, to prevent us from dreaming our dreams. Take a step back and see what habits you are nurturing. Are they making you the person you want to be? Are they fostering good relationships? Are they setting the right examples? Are they in line with your faith, your values, your beliefs? If they are, good. If not, it's never too late to start creating the habits that allow you to grow, to achieve, and to Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU!

God has given us this gift called life. What we do with it though is on us. What's our purpose? What's our reason for existing? Each person lives out their purpose in different ways. Our experiences are different. How we feel about things is different. How we perceive things is different. It may take you years to realize your purpose. It may be subtle hints that bring you to the realization "this is it"! It may be a life changing event that jolts you and your eyes are suddenly opened. It may be the first time you hold your child. It may be that diploma you get. It may be the first time you look into that someone's eyes that steals your heart. It may be the first time you realize how present God is in your life. Whatever it is chase that purpose as much as you can as time is precious. We all are given a certain amount of days. So, go out and find it! Don't wait! Don't hesitate! View each day as an opportunity to say thank you to God for the gift and for the many blessings He provides by living life purposely, intentionally, and to the fullest.

Daily BITUB- “Stop the excuses!”

Stop the excuses. Stop the "I'm too busy", "I'm too tired", It's too hard." You think that's how people become champions, how people reach beyond themselves, how leaders lead? Push back on your fear. Determine if it's fear of failure or fear of success! I mean if you realize what you are capable of you might just have to do it again. Yes, again and again! Challenge the feeling of wanting to be complacent, of settling, of staying in your comfort zone. Dream your dreams. You want to start a business, do it. You want to go after that promotion, do it. You want to go back to school, go. You want to grow, live, experience, then get after it! Nobody is going to stop you, but you. If it matters you find a way, or better yet, you make a way! Look around you at all those doing it. Pay attention to that look of determination, of exhaustion, of faith. Faith that allowed them to take a leap with the belief that no matter where they landed it would be that much closer to their dreams.
