Daily BITUB- “Transformation”

You know how often we study about self help, leadership styles, better lifestyles and we think it's easy. They make it sound very easy. Sometimes it is easy on the immediate surface. We get fooled as we reach a goal and we get complacent and fall back into old ways. We can make the changes on the outside, but real transformation has to come from the inside. That's where the magic happens. Your very core that shapes you and exists deep in the depths of your heart is where all that really matters to you exists. Your potential, your priorities, your faith, your values are there. Yes sometimes it's buried in bad habits, negative people, bad attitudes, doubt, fear, but it's there. Once we make the decision to start digging and work from the inside out then we will start to see what true transformation looks like. Transformation that sticks. It isn't instant, it isn't easy, but it's worth it. When you realize you are too you then you will be willing to make the changes you must to become the person you need to be, and only look back to see how far you've come.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that whatever transformation you are making-spiritual, physical, mental- that you have the strength and the courage to continue.

We aren't always going to win, but as I've said before sometimes the victory is in our ability to fight! There are numerous victories along the journey embedded within those fights that allow us to grow into our true selves. We all have light and being true to that light allows it to shine at its brightest when we peak in our passions. However, it is up to us to determine what those passions will be. What drives you? Who drives you? Why does it? You have to answer the questions at some point. As you progress through your dreams you will realize them. It is always up to us to find them, commit to them, and then hold ourselves accountable to the pursuit of them. Often it is our inability to be true to ourselves and what brings us real joy that has us chasing after dreams that aren't our own. Remember we must be honest with ourselves about everything. If not you then who? If not now then when? It is that honesty that guides us as it lights the way. It is that honesty that allows us to be who we are, to be all we are, and to be the beautiful blessing that God intended us to be.

It's ok to care. You'll be better for it. Care for others and don't doubt it matters. You may never know what it did for someone. You may never see how it influenced them. Maybe they in turn care for someone else. Maybe they go out of their way to pay it forward. Maybe they don't. It doesn't matter because that's not why you do it. You do it because it's the right thing to do. You do it because it's how you were raised, it's your values, it's you. Everyone at some point needs a helping hand. Give yours as often as you can. Like I've said, every chance you get you should. You should do your best to simply give more than you take. Don't be afraid to put yourself in the moment. Don't hesitate that you can change the course of someone's day, week, life just by being there. A smile, a shoulder, a hand, an ear, a prayer, a moment... It matters, and today you may just find that helping others inspires them to do the same, and we will all be better for that.

Daily BITUB- “You had a bad day?”

You had a bad day yesterday? Ok so that was yesterday. Take what you must from it and learn. Get involved in the solutions and influence today. Make it better! Make it matter! Every day requires us to nurture the good and use the setbacks to create clarity as to what works and what doesn't. There is a need to have a daily renewal. You can't decide that today is going to be bad or chances are you are going to create a self fulfilling prophesy destined to end just like your day yesterday. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get over it. You are in control. That's right you get to do what you must to get moving in the right direction. The setback you experienced yesterday was temporary, your reaction to it today is permanent. You get one chance to bounce back, to realign your focus, to impact your thought process, your behavior, your attitude. What's it going to be? You going to sit and sulk in a bad day or are you going to make today better? Are you going to help others make their day better? Are you going to be the solution, the light, the motivation? It's on you to decide. Choose well.

Set the expectation. Deliver it clearly and then outline your role in supporting that expectation. That's right, how are you going to help support it? Ownership is all encompassing. In order for plans to work you must have all parts of it succeed. You are a part. There will be moments where things don't go as planned, but don't let it change the plan. Make adjustments, refocus, realign and get back after it. Failure is not an option. Giving up shouldn't be a thought. Take inventory of what you need and then go get it. Self assess first. What could you have done better? What are you going to do now? Don't wait for solutions, be the solution, create the solution, influence the solution. Maybe people are waiting for you to make the first move. Maybe you are the catalyst to lighting the fire within and for others. The expectation you set should start with yourself. Be willing to take the chances, to venture into uncharted territory, to speak up, to involve others, to share ideas, to listen, to motivate, to inspire, to be inspired! You got this! Yes, you do. You always have. You set that expectation the moment you decided it mattered and now you must ensure everyone knows just how much it does.

We've all heard the saying take it or leave it. That can apply to many things-Job, people, relationships, situations, environment, places. The context, however, matters. Does it matter to you? Is it important to you? Is it positive adversity? Is it challenging you and making you better? Is the mountain you are climbing making you stronger? Are you willing to take the punches and keep moving forward? Not all setbacks are bad. Some teach us lessons we need. Some build our character. Some test our faith and reassure it. Some give us clarity of what matters most. We get to choose what we are willing to stand up for, who we stand with, if we will stand at all. We get to choose what and who we will take and ultimately what and who we must leave. It really is up to you... Take it or leave it.

Every single moment of the day brings with it something. Even in the quiet moments we find ourselves reflecting on what was, is, and the beauty and possibility of what can be. There are countless experiences that have shaped us, that made us move in a direction that brought us closer to someone, and even those that made us realize the ones we had to walk away from. There are challenges that simply made us better. There are moments of love lost and unconditional love realized. There are dark moments that gave us a brighter light than we thought possible. There are moments we felt we couldn't only to find ourselves pushing beyond limitations until we did. There are moments where we shouted until someone heard our cry. There are moments we sat in silence until someone asked us why. There are moments where we knew that prayer was all we had left and that was all we needed. Moments where we counted our blessings from God and realized how many we simply overlooked. Moments where we understood just how much life really means, and who makes it mean that much more. Yes, every single moment of the day brings with it something, and it's those moments we find make us who we are, why we are, and just how easy it is for "something" to become our everything.

I hear people talk about wanting to make changes. I hear them talk about making the adjustments they need. Maybe it's changing eating habits for health, removing toxic people to help with attitude, stopping bad habits to be more in line with your values... Maybe it's all of it. Thing is we can talk about change, but unless we are willing to do the things necessary to make those changes talk is all it is. It won't be easy. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. It will be worth it because it won't just affect your life, but it will impact those around you in a positive way. It will call attention to the things maybe we all want to change, but are afraid to do it alone. Thing is we are never alone. Those that need us, care for us, love us, the ones we live for are there! They are there as God has placed them in our path. They are there as God is there, His Grace is there, His love for us is there. All of it is there because they too are part of the journey and not a moment too soon... Today is exactly the day you are ready for it to begin.

This was a very busy week. It was filled with every emotion in the book. From complete joy, happiness, and love to anger, disappointment, and frustration. Over the years I've learned that you can't really have one without the other if you want to truly appreciate your highs and the feeling of coming back from your lows. If you are up for living life then you are going to have to live it all. The good and bad, the joys and pains, the happy and sad. All of it is part of the beauty that is experiencing life to the fullest. All of it has blessings. All of it is a part of the journey and all of it is a part of you. Go ahead and feel the emotions. You control how you use them and how you allow them to affect you. In all we do there is always positive, but it's on us to realize that. It's on us to have the perspective, the attitude and the faith to know that God is in control of where we go and we are in control of staying the course as we go there. This was a very busy week. Though as I've said often it was busily blessed, and I'm grateful for it.

Individual growth comes once you accept there are areas in your life that need growth. It's not easy to do is it? After all why would we need to grow? We get wrapped up in our selves so much we project out on the situations around us. We create excuses and circumstances that are riddled with every reason in the book things aren't going well. Self reflection is a must. Taking ownership of our place, our situation, our environment is important and on-going. We are in constant motion and life can and will pass us by if we allow it to. Think about the places you put yourself in. Think about the people you hang with. Think about your attitude towards it all. People experience the same things, but have very different outcomes. Why is that? Are they better? Have more money? More schooling? You can say yes, or you can determine that they found a way to succeed. They didn't allow themselves an escape route to not living their dreams. Instead they hit roadblocks and created new paths. They hit obstacles and rolled through them. They learned from experience, they fought for what mattered, they set their sights on a goal, a dream, their future, and they chased it down. They chased it down and as they got closer they put it further out! They grew and they are growing and it started from within. Where are you? Individual growth comes once you accept there are areas in your life that need growth.

Daily BITUB- “Glaring Moments”

It's glaring sometimes. All the problems that others present. All the issues that we self create. Though the glare itself can blind us from seeing the entire situation. We miss the influence we have to create solutions, to offer alternatives, to think, to grow, to interact. That glare can cause us to jump to conclusions, cause us to overreact, cause us to make it worse than it originally was. We won't get it right all the time, but that doesn't mean we can't use the experience to be better next time. It doesn't mean we can't share those experiences with others. It is experience of the moment that creates the opportunity to tackle the next problem next time it arises, and there will be a next time! So, pause for a moment in the situation where you are unsure. Look past the glare and focus. Assess the moment, ask questions, be open to feelings, be honest with yourself, admit mistakes, stand your ground when you should and always pray. God is listening. Pray for guidance, for that focus, for clarity. Pray that God continues to instill in you faith. Faith that there is always a way, and that through Him is a great place to start.

Daily BITUB- “Angels in Flight”

Some days and some moments...

As I was flying home yesterday an older lady sat next to me and struck up a conversation. Normally I'm a headphones in flyer. Though I thought I'd listen for a few as the flight had already been delayed 2 hours.

She was in a cheerful and talkative mood so I thought I would just enjoy her positive energy. She asked about my trip and I told her I was visiting my GA family, and told her all about them. I said I had to get back as I had some commitments, but my beautiful wife and babies were getting a few more days. I was grateful for that. She told me she was visiting her son in law, daughter and grandchildren. Told me all about her experiences and life. I enjoyed it, but one thing she told me struck me as good, solid, life wisdom. She told me that her daughter was all about the latest styles, fads, and trends. She told me her husband, who had passed, would always say that what never goes out of style is family, memories, and love. As I thought more about it I smiled. How often do we want the latest gear, the new technology, the new clothes only to want something different as that trend passes? It's easy to get caught up in it and miss the beauty of memories, moments, people, intentional interactions, blessings, love, family. We all do it and try as we might not to we will do it again. Though the appreciation of those moments God gives us have meant so much more as of late. Simply because I've taken a moment to appreciate the reasons we do what we do, the people we live for, the moments that take our breath away, the special people that bring pure joy to our lives, and the many blessings God bestows upon us each and every day. 

Grateful for the angel sitting next to me who reminded me. We can always use a reminder and can always use an angel.

Daily BITUB- “The Journey”

I thought I would share a small excerpt/summary from my speaking engagements. I haven't spoken in awhile, but continue to be blessed by the opportunity to write and share with all of you. 

When I first got out of college I had a job opportunity to move to Grand Junction, Colorado and make pretty good money right out of school. Circumstances would alter that path and a couple years after that I found myself lost and confused as to where I was headed. I remember vividly being angry with God to a point that I turned my back on Him. I didn't want church. I didn't want to hear the word, I didn't want anything to do with faith, hope, Jesus. It would take years to understand that my path wasn't altered it was redirected to where I was supposed to go. I didn't get it. I didn't want to see it and demon after demon would infiltrate my life because it was easier to let them in then to fight them off. As I sit here today and reflect on things past, I shake my head at how clear it is all now. God always had a path for me. He always was there even when I refused to see Him. There were blessings I dismissed  as chance, angels I blew off as coincidence, and love I didn't reciprocate. Still today I often think about why me, but now it's more why save me. Then I realize we are all God's children, we are blessed by His Grace, and we are on a path that even when it seems like we are lost, God knows exactly where we are, where we are going, and how we will get there.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find your path, and realize no matter where you are, what you are feeling, how lost you may think you are God will provide you the light you need in the tunnel. My hope is that through that light you see that even in your darkest moments there are blessings.

Daily BITUB- “Lost Time”

How often do we tell ourselves that we can do it tomorrow? We will visit family, call our friend, take the trip, take that leap of faith, try something new, tell those we care about we do, take a risk, speak up... all tomorrow. We think maybe at some point we can make up for that time we doubted, delayed, put our dreams on hold. Yes, we often have this notion we will bridge the gap and make up for all that lost time. Then before we know it that time has passed us by. Every day we must engage in active pursuit of the things that matter. We must push ourselves past the waiting period we are in. Get after it. Accept the challenge. Go after the dream. Say what you want to say. Do what you need to do. Create memories. Don't rely on the notion you will have time... Make time, make your moments matter and most of all keep your "I love yous" up to date. 

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you take the time to make the time to do the things you want to do, to say the things you need to say, to be with the ones you want to be with, and to experience the beauty that exists in living life each and every day.

Daily BITUB- “Worthy of The Lord”

As I was reading this weekend and writing my thoughts down for the week's blog posts I came across this bible verse that made me give pause. "Live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God." (Colossians 1:10) I was thinking how often I've led a life of instant gratification, a life where I didn't appreciate my blessings, appreciate the lessons my Mom and Pop taught me, appreciate my brother and sisters who comfort me, appreciate friends, my job,  the time with my children, and my wife who has been to hell and back with me. It's easy to lose sight of things until you let yourself see what God has laid out and you start to do your best to "live a life worthy of the Lord", or in my case worthy and appreciative of all the blessings in my life. I'm flawed in many respects, but being on this journey with God as my guide, with the values and lessons I've learned as a path, and all the people that make me want to be better as my companions I like the journey I'm on more than ever. My hope is that there is fruit in every good work and that as I grow in my personal knowledge of God I continue to grow and be honest with myself about who I am and be more open to where God is taking me.  

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you take a moment to reflect on where you've been and where you want to go. That you appreciate the blessings and give thanks to God for it is through Him we are possible.

Daily BITUB- “Questions for the Heart”

Your heart knows the answer. Thing is we often overlook the question. We think we know it. We convince ourselves we are asking the right question. We look for those easy answers that can satisfy us in the moment. It's answers that allow us to be complacent, to take the easy road, to settle, to give in, to give up, to create doubt. It's answers that are riddled with excuses of why we can't do this or that. No matter how hard we try though our heart truly does know the answer. Our faith tells us that the real questions are inside us buried by things that don't sustain us. We have to be real with ourselves. We have to ask those real questions. Why do we want the dream? Who do we want in our lives? Who are we living with and who do we really want to live for? Are our priorities in check? Are we letting God be an active part of our everyday life? Yes... Real questions for real living. Real answers that pave the way for where we really need to go not where we want to go. Real values. Real faith. Real truth. Go ahead and ask the questions. Your heart already knows the answers.

Daily BITUB- “Roads to Travel”

We've all heard take the road less traveled. After all we want to experience things for ourselves, learn as we go, and determine how it impacts us. Though the paths that have been traveled often are still opportunities to create new experiences. We can influence things others have treaded and maybe look at it from a different perspective. Yet still there is that other road. The road untraveled. That road we have crossed over time and time again, but fear, doubt, lack of confidence kept us from venturing down it. Often it's that road that leads beyond our limitations. It's that road that challenges our skills, makes us raise the bar, pushes us to be more than we ever thought we could be. It's that road where our wildest dreams reside and we have nothing to go by, but faith. Faith that God is our companion. Faith that together there is nothing there that we won't be able to handle as long as we trust that God will provide what we need when we need it. The unknown only exists in those places we don't allow ourselves to experience. It's seeing the blessing of starting anew, of creating foundations, of creating the next path for others to follow, of being the starting point for the next big thing. Whatever road you choose to take, take it! Take it and make it yours. Take it and take God with you. Take it and believe in the possibilities of what can be and Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU!

My prayer for you today is that you keep moving forward. That whatever path you are venturing on you find the faith, the courage, and the blessing of have a path to walk upon.

This is the day the Lord has made. We all know the rest of this don't we? Let us rejoice and be glad in it. What exactly does that mean though? What I've found is that "being glad in it" can vary from person to person. It can even vary for ourselves overtime. What we felt was important, priority, necessary can change as we evolve. Maybe we decided to pursue a different career, maybe we decided that we were going to concentrate more on our health, studies, finance, family, God. No matter what is in front of us, it is all opportunity. It presents itself and helps us realize we are blessed to have another moment to experience life. We get to be in it in as much as we want to be. We get to share it if we choose. We can push beyond the boundaries of our limitations, we can create pathways for others to follow, we can positively light up the rooms that negativity makes dark. We can be whatever we choose to be from the moment we wake to the moment we lay our heads down to rest and prepare for another blessed and beautiful day filled with endless possibilities. Another day that The Lord has made. Another day where we get to decide exactly what it will mean to rejoice and be glad in it.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you are able to appreciate another day. That you are blessed in this day The Lord has made and you find your reason to rejoice and be glad in it... Even if it is as simple as waking up and having another day to live.
