This Sunday's sermon hit home for me. It made me give pause and really consider how often I ignore God when I know He's talking to me. Often God calls on us to make changes that honor Him and we push back. We know we should do it, but we fight it. We know He's asking us to, because it's good for us. We recognize the signs. Yet, we push back because we don't like change. We get complacent. We get lazy. We settle. We turn away because we think that maybe we won't hear the calling. Yet, we know we aren't fooling God or ourselves. He won't stop. Deep down inside we know we don't want Him to, and we know God is calling us constantly. He calls us even when we don't listen. He calls us even when we are not paying attention. So, why do we make the choice to ignore His call? Why do we not want to change ourselves to be better at serving Him? Honestly, from experience, because it's hard. It requires us to turn away from things we might think we want, and instead realize that His call is going to provide us with things He knows we need. The things that push us, challenge us, grow us. Things that don't happen over night. Things that remind us life is about living, taking chances, experiencing things beyond us. Things that if we let God guide us will turn out to be exactly the way He intends, not us. It's not easy, and I know I won't always get it right, but I know He won't stop fighting for me or calling me. I just need to be better at listening.
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you are able to take a moment to hear the answered prayers God is providing constantly to you. That you appreciate them in a way that doesn't question how they are answered, but instead gives thanks by glorifying Him in all things.
