On Sunday we had a wonderful service. It was presented as a challenge to us during this advent season to focus on quiet time, to fast from electronics, and to be intentional about our moments with God. I thought simple, I'm in. Then I started thinking of when I would do it, and honestly found myself thinking when COULD I do that? I mean football, fantasy football, social media, emails, etc. It was funny to realize how much time I spend glued to the phone and my computer with my head down missing a lot of what's going on around me. Wanting to be so informed I actually miss real conversations that are going on becoming less informed of my current place and time. Living in a world where people expect to get a hold of you at any and all times, and enabling that by answering immediately is on us not them. We have got to do better. So, while it will be challenging, I'm committed to it. One hour of each day to just pause and appreciate, to reflect and talk with God, to notice the blessings around me, to take in real moments in front of me. Something I hope to stop taking for granted. Honestly, we would all be better for it. So, I extend the same challenge to all of you. Enjoy the now, be present, and put away the outside world in appreciation of your own… Even if only for one hour.
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is the Pastoral Benediction we finished service with. Enjoy.
Let us be people of joy. Let joy live in our hearts and share the joy of Christ with all we meet. Share joy by seeing the good in each other. Share joy by remembering good times and hoping for good times to come. Share joy by praying for our world.
In this Advent season, let us see, feel, and share joy. As we go out into the wonder of God's creation, let us share joy, peace, and hope with those we encounter.
Amen
Have a blessed day everyone.
