"Best Self"
We all have talents and strengths. Those are gifts given to us. However, what we do with them is on us. How we cultivate them, use them for the greater good, use them to serve others is on us. We make choices as we grow throughout our lives to nurture those gifts day after day. As we do that we start to unravel who we want to be, and sometimes realize it isn't at all who we need to be. Think about it? For example, I ask myself, are you being the type of father you want your son to become? Are you the man you would want your daughter to marry? What do they see when they look at me? We have to be willing to ask ourselves real questions if we truly are interested in being our best self. I read a quote by Kevin Hall once that said, "When we discover what we are willing to pay a price for, we discover our life's mission and purpose." Though, if we are unwilling to realize we are not who we need to be, and are taking the easy road to simply living in a place of "want", it will always be difficult to find that purpose. We get stuck. We lose the ability to cast a vision that can carry us. We have to stop looking for the things that will not really matter years from now. What matters is what we do with our gifts today. What matters is that we work to be better today then yesterday. What matters is that we do all we can to create a life filled with service, kindness, and love. What matters is that we live our lives working to be our best self, and maybe along the way we inspire someone to know they can too.
Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is from Ephesians 2:10. "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." May we do as He intends for us to.
