"Experiences and Lessons"
In all walks of life we have the opportunity to allow others to have opportunities to reach their potential. That takes a level of trust and an equal level of encouragement and support. This weekend my son was in a golf tournament and he was determined to hit a shot that I felt he shouldn't hit. The more I thought about it though, the more I started to realize I had two reasons I didn't want him to hit that shot. The first was I had tried it before and knew it was a low percentage shot and difficult to execute. Honestly, I had failed at it many times. The second was that because of my experience I was convinced that he was not capable of hitting that shot. Taking a step back I realized that in his eyes he was confident he could execute this. He felt deep down he knew how, and so I let him. Lo and behold he hit it exactly where he wanted. Now, his experience becomes one where he understands his potential. He can hit that shot. If I had talked him out of it that core memory would not have occurred. While our experiences are good to share with others we mustn't hold others back from realizing their talents, gifts, and potential. Our goal should always be to push others to reach higher, to encourage them to work harder, to inspire them to be the person they know they can be, and to have experiences of their own. My son continues to teach me the power of positive vision. If you can see yourself doing it, chances are you will. Looking forward to many more lessons with him- As I share my experiences and watch him as he creates new ones.
