"Likes"

Yesterday someone said to me, "You only got nine likes on your post. I said, "Yes". They said then, "Why post?" I think often as I scroll through social media how much we seek acknowledgment. I'm guilty of it. In fact early on I would get excited when I received likes. I would be upset when I didn't. As time went on I realized that my posts weren't for everyone. They were for me and for those that needed it in that moment. Why post? I post because God gives me thoughts to put down and put out into the universe. I post cause I'm not searching for likes, I am giving glory to God by doing what I believe I am supposed to do. I post because nine people needed it. I post because the person who doesn't click the like needed it too. I post because I need it. I never focus on anything other than what is in my heart, my mind, my soul that God allows me to put down on paper. I believe there is a reason, a calling, a truth that someone needs to hear. I believe that my blessing is serving others, and this is how I best can do that. One of my favorite quotes from John Henry Newman says it best. "God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission. I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next."
