From a couple of years past… but still in my heart.
"Memories"
"The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." -Jack London.
As the holidays are upon us I can't help but think of my Grandparents and all those that have gone before us. I laugh until I cry at the memories of Christmas craziness at my Gma Connie's with all our family. Some stories just too crazy to share, ha. I think of my Gpa and sitting with him playing poker with my cousins, and dominoes with him and my wife and family. I think about, and can still smell, the food. So much food. I remember the dancing, the toasts, the tears, and the beauty of those moments. I miss them, but understand in honoring those memories we must make new ones. New traditions, new moments, new experiences with those we have here with us. Let's keep telling the stories they shared, and in doing it carry on the foundations of family they created for all of us. So, that one day as we move on our family will tell our stories as they make their own. Let us not exist, but live. Use our time to love, be loved, show kindness, make our moments memories and be the people that those who have gone before us would want us to be.
"Here's to the ones that we got. Cheers to the wish were here, but you're not. Cause the drinks bring back all the memories, and the memories bring back, memories bring back you." (Memories)
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for today is for all those who have paved the way for us so that we may live. May they know we think of them, and in doing so we live for them.
Have a blessed day and a Merry Christmas everyone.
