"Anxiety"
Have you ever felt like anxiety was making your life smaller? Dealing with anxiety can be challenging. For me it was a constant looking over my shoulder thinking something was about to happen. You know, things are great, so instead of enjoying it you are looking out to what could happen. In some instances we self sabotage and accelerate it, or worse create a self fulfilling prophecy. Last week as I was talking to my team I told them that out of all the things we do it boils down to this one thing we are being held accountable to. If it doesn't deliver on that, then we shouldn't be doing it. Yes, easier said than done, but very doable. I read a quote by Rubert Spira that said, "Causeless joy, imperturbable peace, love that knows no opposite and freedom at the heart of all experience....this is your ever-present nature under all circumstances." I thought about that. What is my ever-present nature? What is my non negotiable? What is my why, purpose, focus? What is the one thing I am determined to accomplish? If I know that, what in my life is not helping me achieve it? What was causing all the anxiety for me was often things that distracted me from chasing that one accomplishment. So, I started to practice mindfulness. Focusing on the present moment and acknowledging my feelings without judgment. Removing the toxicity, removing the things not needed on my journey, and rearranging priorities to fit into what really mattered. I started celebrating the small things, the wins, the victories, the perseverance, even letting myself feel the satisfaction of getting through the day. Anxiety is not easy, but I continue to work hard to manage it. End of day, it is that effort that reminds me I am stronger than whatever is lurking over that shoulder.
Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is from 2 Timothy 1:7.
"For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
Have a great week ahead everyone.
