I wrote this 12 years ago, but thought I would repost today with a few changes as much has changed, but not our love for her.

It's my Grandma Helen's Birthday. I miss her. It's been awhile since God called her home and you know it's amazing how we can still see her and feel her impact on us. Vivid memories… Like they were yesterday. It's funny the things I seem to remember most. Like sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee. There was always a fresh pot. It could be 110 degrees at 2pm and we had fresh coffee. Coffee tasted so much better when we had it there. We would play dominoes with her and GPa. Well we would lose at dominoes with her and GPa. She was extraordinary in her way to comfort and close out the rest of the world when you were with her. After all it was Grandma's house. It was sanctuary. A play ground. Nothing mattered there other than being fed, rested, playing, happy and loved. That's what mattered. I remember my bro and I going there for weeks upon weeks in the summer and just hang out. It would take her all of about 5 minutes to cook an entire meal, and not just for me but for 10 of us that would show up at anytime. Always others first. My mom has her beauty and strength. There is no question about that and we are blessed in that we possess a lot of that fight. My GPa never missed an opportunity to visit her. He's with her now and boy do we miss him. Though he is where he should be. That kind of love is ever inspiring, but then again so is everything about them. While there are many places and many people that bring me comfort, it's remembering sitting on that swing without a care in the world, drinking coffee with you GMa that puts me exactly in the place to realize just how blessed we always were and still are because of you. You are so much a part of why we will always do our best to appreciate the opportunities we have because not a day went by you didn't make us feel how appreciative you were to be there with us, and to always be blessed. We miss you, but like I said we see you, we feel you, we thank you, and we love you.
