I was reading through some old posts yesterday and came across one of my favorites. The line, "Focusing on what we don't have often clouds what we do", just resonates with me so much. We are so interested in having more we sometimes forget about what is right under our noses. It makes us cut corners instead of taking the long, and necessary, way around. We miss the little moments in our rush to try and get to the big ones. That sometimes causes missteps, misdirection, uncertainty, and false foundations. We start trying to build on those unstable foundations only to watch things crash to the ground over and over. We want that immediate and instant gratification. We put stress on fragile situations and then we wonder why they didn't work. Some things simply mustn't be rushed. Some things need the intentionality of our patience, our planning, our focus. Some things, some dreams, some relationships must be nurtured, cultivated, eased into so that we can develop the skills, the strength, the experiences necessary to sustain them. We forget about the things we have, the people that love us, the moments that have shaped us, and don't use them to help hold us up when we need it. We stop appreciating that we are probably standing right in the middle of a dream we once had. Yes, focusing on what we don't have often clouds what we do. So, pause and let this moment, this place, this dream, the ones you love be appreciated before you miss the opportunity to appreciate them.
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you find a comfort, a calm, and peace in what you have in your life in this moment. Don't look past it. Don't under value it. Give thanks and all glory to God for it.
