I was reading my devotional yesterday afternoon and I came across Proverbs 23:12. "Apply your heart to discipline and your ears to words of knowledge." I kept thinking about it the rest of the day. Often we find scripture that just talks to us. This was one of those times. Especially as of late when things around me are so distracting. It's hard to avoid the noise sometimes, but we can do it if we so choose. This helped me clear my head. I thought about how our experiences shape us. How what we learn and how we process those learnings influence our choices. Discipline... Essentially making the right choices as best we can. Not allowing ourselves to take the easy way out knowing it isn't what is best. Think about it. If we are constantly choosing easy, choosing instant gratification, choosing wrong over what we know is right we start to erode our values. It's not going to happen overnight, but overtime that erosion will take over. We may not even notice it until we've eroded so much of who we are. It will become easier to choose wrong. Easier to not care. Easier to believe it's ok. Choices matter. Right choices matter more. Especially when we are disciplined enough to know that we must choose things that won't be easy, might hurt in the moment, might not be what we want, but what we need. The choices to walk away from relationships that hurt us, jobs that don't fulfill us, people that bring toxicity to our life. We must pay attention to what we see around us. We must pay attention to the knowledge we have acquired throughout our journey, and have the faith and trust to be disciplined enough to stay the course and avoid that noise.
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you have the courage to walk your path. That you don't allow the noise to distract you. You have the knowledge from experience you need to do what you know you must and you know you can.
