"Leadership is not wielding authority it's empowering people." – Becky Brodin
What I have learned in leadership is that you can't do it all. Part of good leadership is coaching, developing, supporting and growing those around you. We hear words like delegation, trust, empowering others, but it is a lot easier to say than it is to do it. We may have been conditioned over time to feel like nobody is going to do it as well as us so we stopped letting others try. Maybe we have been let down. So, we shy away from putting ourselves in a position where it could happen again. While we talk about empowering others, we need to allow ourselves to be empowered to give others the opportunity they deserve to reach their potential. If we are the roadblock in that we will constantly be surrounded by people who do only what they are told to do. You miss the opportunities to have new ideas, fresh thoughts, challenges and challengers. You don't want "yes" people all around you. You want to create real, intentional and intimate relationships where everyone is comfortable enough to try, to fail, to learn, to have their own opportunity to lead and to empower. Remember at some point in your life someone took a chance on you, and then supported you as you learned, navigated, and experienced. That first time they empowered you do remember how it felt? Think about how you reached a potential you wouldn't have if you were never given the opportunity to reach it.
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you empower others, and in turn feel empowered by someone. That you realize just how much potential we are all capable of if we are allowed opportunities to reach it.
Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.
