"Yes, there is one thing I was afraid of. I was afraid I might lose compassion for [my torturers]." -Lopon-La (Tibetan monk imprisoned and abused for eighteen years)
As I read more about Logan-La I realized just how difficult it must have been to continue to pray and ask for forgiveness for his abusers. Yet, that is exactly what he did. His prayer for strength was more for his ability to continue to love them and ask for God's grace upon them rather than himself and his comfort. He did it for 18 years while at the hands of his abusers. It's hard to imagine that as we are able to hold grudges for even the smallest things for years. Truth is, right now people are suffering. Right now there is abuse, emotional and physical, taking place. Right now people are lost, hurt, and confused. It's hard to maintain a level head in any of that. Hard to not want to lash out. Hard to not want to be angry. Harder to have compassion for those that tend to find comfort in hurting others… The distractors, detractors, the unkind, the resentful that exist in all our lives. Yet, our energy shouldn't be focused on reciprocating that negative energy, but rather directed toward prayer for them. That calm we can bring to the moment is what influences the outcome. We must maintain control of the moment by making it ours. I'm not saying take it, accept it, let it be ok… I'm saying walk away. Let it be, put it down, and move on. Don't let them create doubt on your path by their missteps. Don't let them pull you into their lane. Don't stay and allow them to break you. You know what matters to you. You know the daily grind you need to place your energy into. You know the path, the direction, the focus you want and need to have to progress and become the person you are wanting to be. Acknowledge those people determined to push your buttons by living a better life. Pray for healing, for guidance, for wisdom, for peace for them and you. For we are not to judge, "but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another." (Psalm 75:7)
Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is a prayer for strength, for healing, for guidance, for Grace for you and anyone in our lives that needs it.
Have a blessed, safe, and healthy day everyone.
