Daily BITUB- “Accountability Partners”

We are all striving to be something. We have this idea of what that is and often we imagine we are already there even when we aren't. I've often heard that we need accountability partners. People to ground us in reality. People willing to be there as we work on overcoming, achieving, excelling. If they are true accountability partners then we must be prepared for the tough love... Yes, feedback. The hardest thing sometimes is hearing feedback and being openly honest with ourselves about what it means. It's not easy, as we are masters at manipulating ourselves. We can mask things to make them less impactful. We can take anything and spin it to our liking. We hear things not as they are said, but how we want them to be heard. Let's face it, we like the good things. We all crave recognition. We all want to be appreciated in one way or another. We want the positive. As hard as it is to see, sometimes accepting that constructive and honest feedback that is sincere and well intended, is a gift. Not everyone has those people in their lives. The ones who care about us the most and are willing to show us how much. I tell those in my coaching circle that if I quit giving you feedback or talking then something is wrong. Maybe it is a trust, a confidence, a respect issue. We need to be better at embracing those that work hard to tell us our truths and guide us along the way. We all need that support. The people that stand along side us on this journey of development, self discovery, truth, and growth. We need it, and as we realize that we open ourselves up to a blessing that allows us to realize that those that care won't ever allow us to pretend we are something we aren't. In turn, we are able to embrace our role in helping others be exactly what they are striving to be.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you cherish those people in your life that love you enough to tell you the things only true friends will. Those are gifts and blessings from God not everyone is blessed to have.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Anxious”

I've read a lot of posts, emails, and had discussions with people about anxiety. Let's face it these are anxious times. It's easy to be filled with anxiety over all the things we are hearing, reading, and seeing. The stress can overwhelm you if you allow yourself to focus on what you don't control instead of what you do. There are going to be decisions made over the next few weeks that will create even more anxiety. People will be judged by those decisions. We will lean towards judgement ourselves. Thing is, we don't know other's situations. So don't base your thinking on what others are doing. Don't be so quick to assume intent. Think about where you are and what you must do. You know what needs to happen for your circumstances. Nobody will decide those things for you. Put your focus on what matters. Not the want to get out, but the need to be out. Not the want to play, but the need to work, to provide, to live. There will be guidelines to follow... Follow them if you need to be out. Put your energy into what you can influence and what you will control. You may find yourself reassessing the situation often.  It's not going to be easy, but none of this is. As much as I don't want to be anxious I get anxious. As much as I don't want to worry I do. I worry about my family, my friends, my ability to support, help, guide, listen. Jack Nicklaus once said, "Concentration is a fine antidote to anxiety." So, I concentrate on the good, the positive, the impact of my actions. I do what I can that is in my control. At the end of the day we can be anxious or we can influence the outcome for the greater good. We can pray and not judge. It's really that simple, and breaking it down certainly eases the anxiety in as much as it can be eased.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you remember we will all face anxious times, but we can remember our faith. We can give it to God to help pull us through. As it is written, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6) Present it and then pay attention to the answered prayers.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Walks”

I've been taking walks with my wife every day. Something that before seemed impossible with our busy schedules. It seemed as my day started to wind down hers would pick up with her business. What I noticed though is we are still busy, just in different ways. Yet our intentional desire to take these walks, to pause and talk, to enjoy one another even more is what has changed. We always did, but the priority of each other has become evident as we lean on one another more these days so our kids can count on us. We get anxious, we get tired, we worry as anyone does, but those walks help ground us more now than ever. You get to appreciate being outside, waving at neighbors, taking in the sunshine, the breeze, the moment. I saw a funny post the other day that said "Y'all married people holding up? Haven't seen I'm so blessed or he's my everything in awhile." It was pretty funny, and I won't pretend we haven't got on each others nerves or wanted to push our kids outside and lock the door. Yet here we are with another chapter in our lives to overcome, to appreciate, to find blessings. Those vows mean more now than ever and things like richer for poorer and in sickness and in health are front and center. It's a special time where we all get to reflect, to appreciate, to be intentional with our spouse, our person, our kids, our family, our friends and make these moments matter... Make them memories that we will look back on and realize while there are some dark moments there will also, by the Grace of God, be light that comes out of this dark. We can be better, we can carry these lessons with us, we can become intentional with everything we do this day and the days to come.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you let the light come in and find the blessings in the moments today and the days to come.

Have a blessed and happy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Failure”

How often do we spend time focused on reaching our peak of success only to miss the lessons in the failures along the way? Think of how many times you fell short of a goal and it helped you course-correct for next time. Hard to remember that when you are in the throws of a setback. It's easy to throw in the towel when the road seems long. Maybe we need to redefine what we deem as success. Maybe it's setting benchmarks and goals that we allow ourselves to celebrate and reinvigorate ourselves to carry on. Everyone's potential is different. Everyone's idea of what is successful is different as well. Have you even defined it for yourself? I know personally my idea of success has changed over the years, and so has the bar, as I've found higher levels of potential in the things that I'm passionate about. Life has allowed me to change my focus and put my energy on things that matter. In turn, my idea of success has changed as my priorities, my interests, my passions have changed. That reset is a must if we intend to give it our all, as chasing someone else's dream is a sure recipe for failure, or worse yet, the feeling we have wasted our time. At the end of the day we are all blessed to fail, as we are all blessed to learn, to experience, to push ourselves beyond the failure. In that we must realize we are all experiencing success as we are blessed to have opportunities to continue to pursue it.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you let yourself have a win, and you appreciate your progression. Even the smallest of steps is a step.

Have a beautifully blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Belief in Yourself”

Belief in yourself begins in one place. Sure, as we grow up there is influence of others, their support of us, their encouragement, but at the end of the day that confidence and strength can dissipate over time. Unless we nourish it. We must be personally invested in our own self-esteem and development. When you stare in the mirror you are either going to be your biggest supporter or you are not. Your belief foundation is only going to hold you up if you have a love for who you are deep down in your heart. It will be tested. Who you are will be challenged. What you want to be is important. You have to be honest with that. You have to be willing to be you in all matters of living. You won't make everyone happy, but those you want happy will accept you as you are. You have to realize that within you is potential. Within you is the ability to overcome any limitations, any obstacles, any adversity. If you think back you'll realize that every blessing started somewhere. That somewhere began with your belief in it... In your ability to do the job, run the race, play the sport, hit the shot, give the speech, make the sell, live like you know you can. What you are and where you are headed is only as big as your belief. Believe big and the rest will follow.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow yourself to realize your potential, and then you have the courage to chase it and the faith in God's plan to live up to it.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Circumstances”

It's hard not to allow our circumstances or our emotional state dictate our commitment levels. It's hard not to relinquish our power and influence on how we let life treat us. Regardless of things going on around us we still have responsibilities. We don't get to put that down because we had a tough day. Sure we can pause and catch our breath, but things that really matter we get back after them. Be honest with yourself... It's not if you are going to face adversity, it's when you are going to face adversity. You are going to face obstacles. You are going to face negativity. It's in those moments you get to choose. Just like anything we do we have choices. We can choose to pray or we don't. We can choose to work on our relationship with each other, with ourselves, with God or we don't. We will always face rollercoasters of emotion. We will have highs and lows. That's where our commitment levels really matter. If we are really invested in living then we must be invested in everything that comes with it. Life requires work. It requires us to do some heavy lifting some days. Sometimes that's as small as getting ourselves out of bed and moving, but big in that sometimes it's the smallest things that are the most difficult to do. It's facing fears. It's accepting the challenge of trusting in faith, of leaning on it, of leaping in it. When we realize just how influential we can be in controlling how we approach our circumstances then we realize just how powerful we are in dictating not how life treats us, but how we treat life.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you realize how powerful you are. How much strength you have through faith, through prayer, with God as your companion. That you understand you are the biggest influence on how and why you live life the way you do.

Have a blessed and healthy day all.

Daily BUTUB- “Plans Change”

When I woke up yesterday morning I was excited about a great day. Quickly though my plans changed and my mood changed with it. Everything I was thinking kept getting shot down in my mind. I tried to not let things get to me, but you know what, sometimes it's best to let things get to you. After all, having feelings and emotions, both good and bad, is healthy. You have to allow yourself the opportunity to unload and to let go of that tension. If you don't, and I know from experience, it will explode and things can become much worse. Find that outlet. Find your person. Find the moment. Whatever it is, keeping things in won't make you better. It's toxic and that negativity can spread to all things around you. You'll find you are controlling the mood, the energy, the attitude of others. That is not a good thing, especially in times where we are all locked in together with nowhere to go. Walk away if you need to. Get your footing. Life isn't always going to be perfect, but that's part of living. It helps us appreciate the good moments, the great opportunities, the special days. Despite it all, even in those moments where we find ourselves spinning, God has His way of slowing us down so that we can remember that even in our darkest moments there are blessings. There are always blessings, things will work out, and faith tells us, one way or another, it always will.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you realize you always have an outlet. You are not in this journey alone and God will always provide. Trust in that and know it is in His timing not ours.

Have a blessed and healthy week.

Daily BITUB- “Do Your Part”

Is Jesus the way? Do you believe that? Is your faith strong enough to stand this test? Only you can answer that. Only you and God know what's really in your heart. I've read all over that God will get us through this. I am a believer, but it doesn't remove my role in all of this. We must do our part. We are responsible and we are empowered through free will to make decisions to hinder or help what must be done. We can pray, we can worship, we can beg God for help, but we must be willing to accept that our prayers being answered may not look exactly the way we envisioned them. It may come in a form we don't understand right now, but we mustn't question that. Instead, we push on and stand firm on that foundation of faith we have built. These are the moments we are called upon to put into action all those things we say we feel, we cherish, we trust in, we believe. The road will be bumpy. The path will be twisting. The obstacles will be many. The naysayers, doubters, negative attitudes will come out because they see this as their time. We must be vigilant in our faith, and as it says in Ephesians 6: 13-18... "put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, (we) may be able to stand (our) ground, and after (we) have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around (our) waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with (our) feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which (we) can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you feel the strength of God. That you put on that armor and trust in Him. That you trust that you can do what you are called to do exactly at the moment you are called to do it.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Work From Home”

You can hear it calling. You know it's there. You told yourself you wouldn't, but you can't help yourself. That laptop! Seriously though, for some it is becoming a problem. Working from home has it's dark side as that laptop is sitting there wanting you to check it. You know if you start you don't stop and 8pm becomes 11pm. Now, I've always stayed connected on my phone, via apps, text, calls as needed, but reality for many is they now have access to everything they need to put in a full day and then a full night's work. You have to try and shut it down. You have to fight to ensure you create a routine that is healthy for your body, your spirit, your mind. Read for fun, walk, play a game, do nothing. It's ok to do it and not feel guilty about it. It will be there in the morning and if it's an emergency you will know it. Breathe and give yourself the much needed break you have to. You'll be sharper, feel better, be more in tune with what you need to do vs what you are filling up every hour with because you think you need to. Find your break. Find your relaxation. Find your disconnect. Chances are you will be better for it. Others will benefit from you being more in sync, and during all this you might just find you.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow yourself moments to reflect, to relax, to breathe, to pray. We all need it so allow yourself the beauty of that blessing.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “There is Time”

I haven't seen several of my family members, friends, co-workers in awhile. We all are in that same boat. How often we talk about making that call, visiting, spending time together because tomorrow isn't promised. We say it until it comes to pass. We lose a loved one and then we get stuck in the emotional downfall of could have, would have, should have. While there are harsh realities of lost loved ones in this pandemic, there are those we are only separated from. Separated for the time being. We are in a holding pattern where we can't help but reflect on all those moments we made excuses of why we wouldn't visit, about next time, about there being time. Well, for the most part we are going to get a chance to stop making those excuses and visit with one another face to face. We are going to realize it isn't about money, time, or whatever we were using to convince ourselves to wait. If it is important we are going to find the time and the means to do it. Tomorrow isn't promised, but we sure can make a promise to remove the reasons why we can't and start replacing them with the beauty and blessings of why we must. Then we can sit back, reflect, have no regrets, and be grateful that we should have, could have and we did.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you use this moment as a catalyst into all those things that you put off. That when you are able, you get after it and you do it.

Have a blessed and healthy day all.

Daily BITUB- “Togetherness”

Yesterday, as my family and I celebrated Easter, we spent the day together. We have every Easter, but this was an entirely different kind of together. Our family picture was different... No dress clothes. Our church experience was amazing, and it was in our kitchen. Our afternoon was spent hiding and finding eggs, eating a meal outside, giving thanks for our blessings, and watching a movie together. Andie and I took an evening walk and just enjoyed each other. It wasn't that our time together wasn't something we've done before, but it was different in that we knew the world around us wasn't moving 100 miles an hour. Our heads weren't filled with the idea that Monday was around the corner, and routines, obligations, and mad dashes from place to place would be resuming. Instead, our minds were focused on each other, our blessings, God, Jesus and His Resurrection. We were focused on the moment and appreciating that we could have it. While there is that feeling of uncertainty, the feeling of family, of faith, of God's Grace, of love, healing, hope and togetherness feels more certain now than it ever has. It's always been there, but now so many of us are simply slowing down long enough to see it and appreciate it.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you soak up your moments. You don't let them get by without realizing what they are and what they can be. There is so much uncertainty, but let yourself feel the power of God's healing so that you may realize just how much has been and continues to be certain in our lives.

Have a blessed and healthy week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Happy Easter”

I've seen several posts about how this week has been one of the toughest weeks thus far. As Christians we all know about the week the ultimate servant leader, Jesus, was having during His time. We all know the story about the ultimate sacrifice and His service to us. We also all know how that story ends, or rather begins... With victory, redemption, healing, and resurrection.

I wish you comfort, peace, and blessed thoughts during this time and pray you take a moment to celebrate Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this weekend and reflect on the sacrifice He made for us so that we may live. While the scenery may be different this Easter the message never will be.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and Happy Easter from my family to yours. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Daily BITUB- “Why and Who”

When I first started in sales my boss told me to put a picture of something I really wanted on my desk. I remember putting up a house and next to it a car. At that time it never really occurred to me that what I wanted was not that, but what would eventually be in it. As I work today I'm looking at pictures of my family on my desk. My parents, my beautiful wife, my kids all staring back at me. It's a simple reminder of why I do what I do. It's basic really when you strip away all the non essentials. It's us who often try to complicate it. Deep down we all know why we do it. We all have our motivation. We all go about it and are pushed by different things. It's not about what you can get in life, but what you can give. There is no satisfaction, at least I've found, in doing things for yourself if you can't bring others along for the ride. We must celebrate our now. We must be grateful for our present. It's naive to think we are as good as we are going to be, because we all can be better. Better at our awareness. Better at smelling the roses and giving some to those who have no roses of their own. We are creatures of habit, so I pray that our habits change drastically when this is over. That we appreciate our days, our ability to be around the ones that matter, to focus on spending our days with those we live for and those things that bring us to life.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you continue to push yourself to whatever you were before this. That you see the reason why and if that doesn't make sense anymore you change it.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Spirit”

People are asking me how do we stop all the negative? How are you dealing with the thought of how contagious this disease is? Well I could say just turn off the news and do what you are told. It's not that easy though. You want to know, you need to understand, you need to be aware. So, you are going to seek that information. That is hard to avoid. It is all how you process it though. In The Art Of Peace by Morihei Ueshiba he says "Your spirit is the true shield." It is! You have the power. Not the news, not what you hear, not how it can all be negatively interpreted for you. He goes on to say, "Even the most powerful human being has a limited sphere of strength. Draw him outside of that sphere and into your own, and his strength will dissipate." That's not just people, but negative energy. If your spirit is right, if you are seeing the good, the blessings, the light in the dark, then as negative things come into your sphere those things won't last. They can't because shadows can't survive when the light covers the room. In that light they, you, those around you will be transformed into positive energy. Energy we all need. Energy that will resonate beyond us. That too is contagious. That too is infectious. For me... That is something we all could benefit from catching.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you allow your positive energy to resonate beyond you. That you share your faith, your testimony, your resilience with others. You need it, I need it, we all need it.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Now Moment”

You needed it to happen. You wanted that moment where you didn't have to put it off until tomorrow. So, take the  moment. Go ahead. Take the breath you need to take. Pray if you need to. Cry if you want. Laugh out loud. Scream. Sleep. Rest. Whatever you need to do, let your soul do it. Now is not the time to hold back, to be confined, to worry what others think of you. Be ok with who you are. Be ok with what you need. Actually, be better than ok. Be confident, honest and transparent with what is going on in you right now. Be intentional in how you respond to it. Now, more than ever, you have to let that guard down and raise your hand if you have something to say, if you need to unload, if you need help. I, in faith, give it to God, but if that's not you than you give it to someone. Talk to your parents, your friends, your spouse, your person, your kids, your family. Open up and just be real. This is our moment to reconnect with ourselves. This may be the first time you ever felt you could. This pause, this slow down, this alignment of what and who matters, this realization that we are not invincible, that others matter, that we must love life, care for each other, give more than ever is happening. So, let it happen. You needed it to happen. Make no mistake, this isn't something to put off until tomorrow. This is our now moment.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is you find that voice you've been waiting for and you listen to it. You let yourself say, become, feel the things you need to during this time and do so with the courage and faith knowing it's ok and you can.

Have a blessed and healthy day everyone. Stay home!

Daily BITUB- “Hail Mary”

During bible study yesterday morning there was a question about what helps you believe. What takes you to a place where you feel safe and comforted? What's your go-to prayer? I instantly remembered my prayer and my place. Going to Catholic school at St. Mary's I had three very influential people that always believed in me, despite my ability to make it hard to... Sister Carita, Sister Paschal and Mrs. Simcik. Each of them at different junctures in my life seemed to take it upon themselves to push me, pull me, and teach me hard lessons by giving me the tough love I needed. That school gave me so many memories, so many lessons, so many relationships and influences. It's a blessing that it is there doing the same for so many kids today. Then there was my go-to prayer that still takes me back to that place and those people... The Hail Mary. I always found peace and a calming when I said it then and when I say it today. It puts me back in that church, with those people, surrounded by love, by faith, by God's Grace. It wasn't really until the past year and a half that I started to understand God better. The lessons I learned there come flowing in exactly at the moment I need them to. The prayer helps me get my footing and steadies me when I lose my way. As I thought about it today so much came rushing in. God is always at work. His lessons, as I've said before, may take years to get, but we must trust and believe that it is in His time not ours. That makes it beautiful to know that there will always be moments yet to come where our lessons and blessings from God are simply waiting for us to get there.

Believe in the Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is my go-to prayer. May it find you comforted and healthy.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen

Have a blessed week everyone.

Daily BITUB- “Laughter”

" A well-balanced person is one who finds both sides of an issue laughable." - Herbert Procknow

Have you ever just laughed until the point you almost couldn't breathe? I find myself laughing with others more often lately because why not. Someone walked by my office yesterday and said how can you laugh right now? I said how could I not? I'm giving it all to God. My faith is carrying me and honestly laughter brings so much light into any dark moment. Sharing laughter, joy, good vibes, special moments brings a calm and sometimes even helps us escape some of the reality around us. It just provides an energy that resonates beyond us and really is contagious. It provides that sense of comfort that joy is still here, and why not fill up our hearts with that? Sure I know what's going on. I see the numbers, I know the stats, but I also know we will get through it. I may not get to give a high five, shake a hand, give a pat on the back to those I work with, my church family, my friends... but technology let's me see them, call them, keep in contact. In fact, I've learned a lot about some people I haven't had the chance to because we slowed down. I've built relationships with people I'm seeing step up and do things I wasn't aware they could do. So, yes I'm still happy, still feeling positive, still letting joy in and you bet I'm going to keep laughing. Maybe, just maybe, at some point in all this we all will.

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is you let yourself see the beauty in those moments that God places in your path to remind you that life is good.

Have a blessed and healthy day!

Daily BITUB- “Thankful Hearts”

I was feeling pretty mentally worn out yesterday. It happens, and as we go through and try to do all we can we will find those instances where people will do their best to stifle the good. It's part of the process and part of the reality that it's difficult to please everybody. It's even more difficult to help people understand that things we do, things put in place, and set expectations are there sometimes for their own good. I've yet to run into a rule that did not have purpose. We may not like it, but it's there. So, as I let myself get frustrated with the moment and one person draw my attention from all the good, I looked up and saw a quote my mother-in-law wrote for me in 2005. "The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and, as the magnet finds the iron, so it will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings" - Henry Ward Beecher. It reminded me that if we let it there is always bad, negative, frustration to be found... If we let ourselves walk with unthankful hearts or focus on those hearts of others. It's the thankful one that gives us the perspective and attitude we need, especially in times like this, to find the blessings. Thank you God for putting that in my path, and thank you Donna (who I know is reading this) for the reminder even from hundreds of miles away. We love you!

Believe In The Unbelievable that is YOU and my prayer for you today is that you face the day with a thankful heart, giving praise to God for He is good and gratitude to everyone doing all they can to lift so many up.

Have a blessed and healthy day.
